On Nvidia I had one CTD just a few hours in, but an updated driver came out and I did not crash after that through 2 complete play throughs.  I also play with settings maxed out with no FPS issues.  If you have Nvidia and are having crashing or slowness issues, try getting the latest driver.  If you have long loading screens thats your HDD.  Get an SSD for the game or at least a much faster HDD.

Greetings,

While my laptop (http://www.cnet.com/...0-gb-hdd/specs/) is absolutely trash for any recent gaming, I've been playing DA:I and it performs decently enough even if all is on low settings (except meshes for obvious reasons).

Now my problem is as follows: every two hours the game's image freezes along with the sound (it basically goes rrrrrrrrrrr) and after a couple of seconds it either shuts down my laptop or I have to turn it off myself. Is there any way to minimise this or fix it? Thank you.

Overheating, no doubt. I've had laptops do the exact same thing in the past and it has always been overheating.

The game is freezing at the title screen, even after I've connected to the servers, and played the game. The other day after aggravating bouts of freezing (at the title screen), I went into Origin and repaired the game. For a time the game was working fine, but now it is freezing at the title screen again (if I leave it for longer than a minute it does so). I have been able to start the game befor the freez, but I've also noticed a massive FPS drop.  Moreover, yes, I have tried the same repair option since then.

My rig

Graphics: GTX 980 (just upgraded from a 7870, the game never froze when I had the 7870 installed)

Processor: Intel ® Core™2 Quad CPU  Q8400 @ 2.66GHz  2.67.GHz (probably causing some bottle necking, hopefully once I have the cash I will be able to upgrade my cpu to a i5-4690k)

RAM: 8.00 GB

Windows 7 Operating System

- I have the latest Nividia drivers

My fiance is trying to run the beauty that DA:I is, on these specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz

ATI Radeon R9 280X

8 GB RAM

...except for it doesn't run at all. Even with all settings set below Medium, the highest framerate Benchmark shows is about 24.6 fps. However even Medium kills the game OR the whole computer if trying to run anything beside the Benchmark (like, the actual game itself). The computer either hangs with loud buzzing sound coming from speakers, or restarts. If it doesn't crash, then it lags so bad it's unplayable. The specs are definitely above average according to the tables in the first post, so it's quite upsetting.
Now I was wondering if the screen has anything to do with it? I mean I play on a standard flatscreen, while my fiance has a huge flatscreen TV hooked up to his computer, with resolutions over 1600 x smth smth. Would he be able to play if he had a standard average sized monitor instead? Any advice or experienced opinion, here or via PM, would be very appreciated.

It should be doing much better than 25fps on medium.

All I can suggest is update the graphics drivers and the redistributables in the dragon age inquisition/_installer folder.

Is the computer fine otherwise with demanding tasks? Like recent games, futuremark, prime95?

It seems that Windowed Fullscreen fixed this problem! Thank you!!

mumblemojo & DukeMcFishy - yeah, it seems that it has something to do with our R9 270(X) :(

And here I am again..this helped me in singleplayer, but in multiplayer I am experiencing random crashes to desktop without any error message again...daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn   I want to play the multiplayer, but can't - today 4 mp games = 3 crashes, so 3 ruined games

Just to confirm a few questions and problem everyone facing

If your facing Stuttering when exiting to Main Menu / Title Screen, as few has claimed here it's Normal I guess, it's really a CPU Usage issue here, as I can see when exiting to the Main Menu /Title Screen , my CPU Usage bumps up to 100% max , for least few seconds till things settle down.

This goes same for when your Fast Traveling or Continuing back into the game.
How I found out my CPU Usage ? I have a Logitech G510 keyboard with LCD Screen to display my CPU and RAM Usage.

The heavy CPU Usage is causing the GPU to lose FPS least simple to say. As I can see during the 100% Usage via my MSI AB , the FPS drop tremendously. Thus making it lag / stutter.

Before someone goes saying , " Bro your CPU Is Bottlenecking " stop this bullshit. Any Current Gen CPU is sufficient to run this game without breaking a sweat.

How I proof this ?? Read these two articles. CPU Bottlenecking is really more like running an Antique / Previous Gen CPU on a Modern / Current Gen GPU

1) The entire benchmark

2) Jumping to the CPU Performance

http://www.techspot....arks/page6.html

3) German site reviewing DA I , translated here

Also some claiming there's Potential Memory leak for this game. So far I haven't experience this though.

My i7-3930k never gets used more than 30% load while playing DAI. The bottleneck is the programming/multithreading.

My i7-3770k, on the games title screen, has ALL 8 cores pegged at 70%+ load.

Oddly enough, during the rest of the game, most drop down to around 50% load.

Those poorly coded title screens... running "hello world" 50 Bagillion times a millisecond, just because.

My Rig:

GPU: 2x 7970 GHZ Edition in Crossfire (CCC 14.9)

CPU: i7 2600K @ 4.4 GHZ (Prime Stable for min 24 hours)

RAM: 8 GB

SSD + XFi Sound

Windows 7

Problem: It won't get me more than 30 FPS on High preset with 1080p res. I have no idea what's the problem since I updated all drivers and even did reinstall.

Still I am stuck with low performance. All other games run like Hell. Reviewing the updated OP my single GPU and CPU should run the game on Ultra!?

Tried all and everything in CCC with no luck. Turning of Frame-Pacing gave me 3-5 FPS more.

No idea left what to do.

Greetings

EDIT:

Solved the Problem on my own. For me it was the Vertical Sync. Although I forced it off with driver options it was still activated by the game somehow. Deactivated it in in-game options and now it runs like a charm. 50 to 70 FPS on Ultra.

Im getting similar, multiple issues...

Long as hell loading times and fast travel times upwards of 10 minutes and in some cases getting stuck there
whole rooms literally not being there when i open a door

Certain items failing to load and others taking a while before they appear
Dialogs taking ages to start, I can stand there trying for ages before something happens

Characters looking to have frozen at times

what seems like lagging audio when i enter combat sometimes

General jittery jumpy-ness

Everything about the game has managed to become painfully slow, even starting up, currently struggling to get round that first loading screen...

The game started fine, i played 2 days without an issue then all of a sudden, Issue after issue Ive tried everything on low settings to no avail, NVIDIAs GeForce optimization doesnt help, returning back to default settings doesnt do anything and several previously mentioned setting combinations....

I'm currently back to the default settings, which is what was working perfectly for 2 days but that's not helping the matter.

My Spec

  • 64 bit Windows 7
  • 3.20ghz Intel i5-4570
  • 2GB NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti
  • 8GB Ram

Please Help!? D:

MAJOR PC Bug:

basiclly my game became unplayable past 30hrs into the game. Regardless of graphic settings game keeps reseting my GPU, which is ridiculous, as I didnt have this problem with anything before(yes I run AC Unity maxxed out), in other words symptoms similar to GPU overheating, which is not cause I monitor the temps and it doesn't exceed 55celsius. CPU also cool.

Worst is its happening on either D3D or Mantle, I have High end PC and it's not PSU problem either. Something is wrong with the game I can run all other games all day long including mentioned Unity

Hi,

this is my hardware configuration:

MB: Asus P6TD Deluxe
CPU: i7 920 Step D0
RAM: Exceleram 1600mhz 2gbx3
VGA: Gainward GS GTX 460
PSU: Cooler Master rs-500-psap-j3

Monitor: AOC i2369Vm 23"

I can play with the configuration details Ultra, but some parameters are not set to Ultra, but only at high. I tried to set even those at the most, but the game stutters during the scenes videos. Any advice?

Thanks

I'm amazed you can even play on high. Your processor is ancient, you don't have the suggested amount of RAM, and your video card is mediocre sauce at the very best, more like weak sauce. Be grateful you can play it on high.

Make sure you don't run ANY 3rd party overlay applications like FRAPS,MSI Afterburner, or anything related and do not Overclock your CPU/GPU.

Please help me, Dragon Age thread, you're my only hope. I've tried Reddit, I've tried hardware forums, and I am at an utter loss. I can't run DAI at anything more than 8 or 10 FPS, no matter what graphics settings I have it on. Here are my system specs:

RAM: 16 GB G-Skill Ripjaws series

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5Ghz 6-core

GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 GB

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 ATX AM3+

I'm running the game off a SSD, so my loading times aren't horrible, but I'm finding the game barely playable due to its stuttering. What can I do to make this game playable? It seems like my computer should more than meet recommended specs.

I'm sorry, I wrote the wrong video card. It's a AMD Radeon HD 7870.

My processor is overclock over 3ghz, so i have the suggester requirement, except for the RAM.

So the problem is game stutters during the scenes videos.

It depends only on the RAM? Only for the scenes video?

I changed to Win 8.1 last night from Win 7 SP1 and it's a world of difference.

The game isn't choppy at all now.  Guess that's the last I ever see of Win 7 then - goodbye old friend, you served me well!

Damn, I need to get myself a copy of WIndows 8.1 as soon as possible then! I wanted a more spacious SSD anyway, so I'm going to do a fresh install of Windows 8.1 on it when I finally get it.  :D

I saw a lot of people buying ridiculously cheap (i.e. as low as $10) Windows 8.1 keys from reddit, but I think it's just not worth the risk. Even if they do work initially, there's nothing stopping Microsoft from blacklisting all of them at a random point in the future, so I think I'm going to buy one from Microsoft directly and sleep peacefully at night.  :P

As a side note, I'd like to attest that the game does run on an i7-920, GTX 460, 12GB RAM, Windows 8.1. That's not my rig, but I installed it on a relative's PC just to see how it goes... and I was surprised that it ran nicely on mostly Medium settings with maybe a couple of settings on High. I disabled MSAA, forgot what I did for the other AA setting.

Back to your question about the cuscene stuttering, some people have reporting that setting the "Mouse Smoothing" (or whatever it's called) bar all the way to the right helped. Try it out?

Anyone else having trouble installing the new drivers? When I used the default Catalyst install package (located here http://support.amd.c...indows 8.1 - 64) and ran it with the non-express Customize option, the latest AMD display drivers would not show up in the list of items to be installed. I had to use something called the AMD Driver Autodetect application (located here http://support.amd.c...uto-detect-tool) listed in the install notes, and it downloaded a "non .NET 4.5" version of the installer (even though .Net 4.5 was enabled on my system).

On the plus side, once I got the drivers installed, the game seems to be running smoother on my Radeon 285.
