The game is freezing at the title screen, even after I've connected to the servers, and played the game. The other day after aggravating bouts of freezing (at the title screen), I went into Origin and repaired the game. For a time the game was working fine, but now it is freezing at the title screen again (if I leave it for longer than a minute it does so). I have been able to start the game befor the freez, but I've also noticed a massive FPS drop.  Moreover, yes, I have tried the same repair option since then.

My rig

Graphics: GTX 980 (just upgraded from a 7870, the game never froze when I had the 7870 installed)

Processor: Intel ® Core™2 Quad CPU  Q8400 @ 2.66GHz  2.67.GHz (probably causing some bottle necking, hopefully once I have the cash I will be able to upgrade my cpu to a i5-4690k)

RAM: 8.00 GB

Windows 7 Operating System

- I have the latest Nividia drivers

The issue is your cpu.

So here are my specs:

CPU: Intel i7-4700HQ @ 2.40GHz

Ram: 8GB

Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 750M

OS: Windows 8.1

So if I set the game to Automatic- it sets most everything to High and the game runs fine.  I had to turn down the vegetation detail when I hit the Hinterlands, however I enter the Storm Coast and the game drags to a crawl.  I didn't see my card on the charts in the OP, however there is a designation close that looks like it should run on Medium (the GTX 750).  Think that would be close enough?

I'm having some serious problems with loading times since patch2. This is odd as my load times improved just after the parch but has markedly worsened over time.
It's especially bad at Skyhold when I enter the undercroft/my quarters and or room. Esp with undercroft,I can actually go make a cup of tea while it loads.

I'm running:

i7-2600k @4ghz watercooled

GTX970 STrix @stock speeds

8gb Corsair RAM

Windows 7 x64 Ultra

I considered installing to my Crucial 128Gb SSD but heard too many scare stories about Denuvo killing SSD's

Those SSD stories about Denuvo are total bullshit. Just FYI.

I had an HD 6950 video card and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - pretty ancient by PC standards, I suppose.  I let the program set the video quality settings, and just went from there.

Whenever I would want to start the game by double-clicking the icon on my desktop, or clicking "play" via Origin, or going into the folder and clicking on the DA: I icon, it would take many clicking attempts to get the game to start.  Once the game actually did load and start, wait times while travelling or while waiting for a cut scene to start, etc. were pretty long.  Also, I couldn't even interact with the 3 "tarot cards" they'd throw up on the load screens.  I'd click on the directional triangles and most of the time, nothing happened.  On the plus side, once the game started, I had a playable FPS - albeit on "high" or whatever they call the middle-of-the-road graphic settings.  To be honest, I didn't load the latest and greatest drivers for the video card.  I updated the drivers when I bought Diablo III, and haven't upgraded since.

I just upgraded to a GTX 970 from EVGA (I got the "FTW" version, since it was "only" $30 more than the other model that New Egg had available, and the increase in performance specs seemed to justify the slight price increase).  Since the upgrade, things are like night and day.  No problems getting the game to start, faster load times, I've actually been able to read the lore associated with the "tarot card" things on load screens, etc., etc.

I used the benchmark utility that came with the game and after cranking up the settings to pretty much Ultra everything, averaged 45+ fps.  Gameplay seems to reflect that reality. I haven't tried Fraps or anything, but I can tell that I am having an excellent gaming experience - no stuttering or anything else that would indicate that my video card was choking on the game.

I did a complete uninstall of the HD 6950 drivers and software before I installed the GTX 970.  Once the card was installed, I loaded up the most recent drivers from the nVidia site.  I did not load beta drivers.

Guess I'm one of the lucky people that are having good luck with how the game works on their PC.

Question regarding patch 2. Does the hotfix download automatically? I'm not sure my meshes are at ultra like they should be (I'm having issues with draw distance).

Check your CPU fan coolers, maybe the thermal paste is dying or something. This game is very demanding, and expose quickly the rigs that may have over heating problems. Mine did at first, just had to put new thermal paste, readjust the CPU fan cooler, and it's running fine now.

You can always repaste your GPU

Radeon HD 7870, i5 3570K, 8GB RAM and I can't even run the game on low. Immediatly jumps to 100% CPU and little freeze every few secs. Basically impossible to play. Checked for programs on the background, but it's DA:I that takes everything. Any ideas?

For me PC shutdowns are more likely to be caused by CPU overheating (or faulty PSU) but if you say that the one overheating is your GPU....

Your GPU seem old, but is not not THAT old, isn't it? I wouldn't know what to do with a GPU overheating. Maybe you should consider replacing your GPU? there are cheap options available, specially on AMD side.

GPU: GTX780 6gb

CPU: i5-4570
RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU)

Its one of the 300 Steam Machines, it's more than beefy enough.

I can't play the game, I can't even get through the intro with. Changing the settings from LOW to ULTRA make no difference. Tons of stutter, the game freezes, lags, and crashed. Ive done the framrate workaround, and it didn't help at all. Any suggestions that aren't "you need a new computer" cause I'm fairly sure mine kicks ass.

Thought I would note down my experience and how the game performs so far:

30 Hours played and I have yet to see the game crash or misbehave seriously. Gameplay is smooth and fluid around 60 with the exception of slight framerate drop in cramped areas such as "Crossroads".

*Party characters OFTEN trample around restlessly when Controlled Character is standing still, trying to path.

*Locking targets with "RS" on the controller does NOT lock them at all but may jump around to other targets during combat.

*The same feature of "locking" targets will set the camera to the ground and you get a frog view of the battlefield.

*Occasional "pop in" of graphics in the distance.

*DAI Theme Menu (Press Start) occasionaly freezes and the soldiers will rubber band like crazy.

*Dialouge interface occasionaly bugs, merely requiring more effort than necessary.

*Ocularums have strange stuttering/tearing in the image when you search the landscape.

*Quest map sometimes have a similary behaviour as Ocularums.

Relevant HW specs:

i7 3820. HT OFF. Overclocked to 4300MHz.

32GB DDR3 1600MHz

GTX 970 - 344.75WHQL

Samsung EVO 120gb - Windows 7 x64

Samsung EVO 250gb - Origin & DAI (RAPID Enabled). RAPID decreases loading times quite noteably.

Audioengine D1 DAC/AMP. Data fed via USB. 48kHz sample rate

Beyerdynamic DT880Pro

XBOX 360 Wireless Game Controller

DAI Settings: 1920x1080 60Hz

Mesh - Ultra

Tessellation - Low (Killer in performance impact vs. Image quality)

Texture - Fade Touched

Shadow - Ultra

Terrain - Ultra

Vegetation - Ultra

Water - Ultra

Post-Process - High

Ambient Occlusion - SSAO (Killer in performance impact vs. Image quality)

Effects - Ultra

Post-Process AA - High

Multisample AA - OFF

Dynamic Range - Home Theater* (This setting have a vast impact on immersion and aural fidelity, choose WISELY)

*All other settings hampers the dynamic range greatly. Using "Headphone" mode also decreased the fidelity of positional audio greatly due to the decreased level of dynamic range. I am using heaphones but they are not of the "gaming" kind but of the "audio purity" kind. DAI "shines" when great care is taken to aural performance. If your in a noisy environment and choosing "Home Theater" you will simply not hear all audio that is played.

Remember that Dynamic range is not like image quality where you just ramp the slider up for more candy. It needs to match your audio setup & environment, This game have a lot of subtle sounds (have you heard the subtle wissling sound of wind in your ears as you start galop with your horse?). These sounds are recorded at a lower volume because they are inherently not very loud. Wind and foliage vs Explosions and screams. Using ie "Home Theater" when using the speakers on a TV will simply make some sounds inaudible. Vice versa using "TV" Mode on a high performance home theater will make breathing sounds as loud as explosions. Its techniques of compromise.

Several Bioware games have great audio fidelity and DAI is no different.

Thought I would add my experience:

Specs:

AMD APU A10 6800K Black Edition 4.4GHz

Sapphirer HD7870 Flex Ghz edition

8 GB Ram

Game played ok  (Min 25 fps usually 30+) initially up to the crossroads and then it was horrible down to 3 FPS , restarted and the game was horrible all over !!, so I....

  1. Dropped from high to medium (no real improvement)
  2. Repaired the Game (no real improvement)
  3. Then un-installed the AMD drivers
  4. Installed AMD 4.12 and let the AMD Games Evolved 'Optimise the game'

Went back into the Game and loaded up in the Crossroads and Heh Presto back up to 25 - 30 fps every where!!!  (and better)

the optimiser seems to have set everything to High except Mesh quality (Medium ) and PP Anti-aliasing (Medium)

I have yet to try Mantle which is now available after re-installing the drivers

I'm a bit surprised that they put the Phenom II x4 965 in the dark green area. I would put it in yellow. I couldn't manage a constant 60 fps at medium to high settings when paired with an R9 270X. I now have an i5 4690K (and the same GPU) and can manage high settings (with ultra meshes) much more smoothly.

Mantle function "grCreateImage(g_mantleRenderer->getDevice(devicelt),&imageInfo, &device.image)"
failed with GR_ERROR_INVALID_VALUE. GPU: AMD RADEON HD7800 Series (26648), Driver: 188743680

Only way out is to edit the ProfileOptions_profile  file setting

GstRender.MantleEnabled 0

I can,t seem to find this error on the web anywhere seems a little fundamental the card should support mantle and I have the latest drivers?

Hello people! As some of you I am having some issues with Inquisition. Mostly weird fps drop.

Here is my rig:

GPU: GeForce GTX 670M 3GB

CPU: Intel Quad Core i7-3610QM 2.30GHz

Memory: 24GB

Driver version: Nvidia 347.09 (the last one)

Now, I am fully aware that I can't possibly run this game on ultra, but I do meet the minimum requirements at least.

If I let the game choose my settings, most of the things would be on high. But since I was having fps issues I turned everything down to medium. The fps was still too low (20 ~ 25) on some ocasions.

So I turned everything to the lowest settings possible, like everything, I even placed a user.cfg file to disable motion blur, spotlights, everything that could affect perfomance. I still get less than 30fps exploring! I am not even fighting, and it is random too, I may be walking in Hinterlands with 45 fps but god forbid if I look into a wall in Redcliffe, it goes to 22 fps.

I don't mind playing on low, at this point I really just want to be able to battle on a little higher than 30 fps, without the game slowing down. Is it possible? Can my computer handle it? Tips on what I should do?

So I would say a GTx 670 is fairly close to  a ATI 7870 ? (if not a match or better )  Not sure about an I7 they are so varied across the range but would of thought it matches an AMD 6800K , AMD 6800K A10 are considered weaker (but cheaper  :P  ) than an I7  and as stated above once I un-installed and re-installed my drivers and let AMD Gaming evolved pick my grfx (which are essentially high (see above)) it has been fine very rarely drops below 30 FPS and never below 25 fps

so go figure !!! because before a driver re-install it became pants all over once I reached cross roads

Mind you 670M  just noticed the M  doh!    Mobile GRX cards are always a bit weaker than the equivalent desktop card

this is a good indicator

http://www.notebookc...0M.72197.0.html

A desktop GTX 460 is slightly faster and based on this

http://www.anandtech...duct/542?vs=548

It indicates that for a 7870 running 39.9 FPS a GTX460 runs about 23,1 which tenuously suggests a 670M would be about the same

Well, that is a bummer. Anyways, I will re-install my driver just to be sure I did everything I could. I got a pretty decent 60 ~ 70 fps on the Forbidden Oasis. Too bad the entire game is not set on a desert with only sand to render. Right now I am getting around 40 ~ 45 exploring with random drops. And when fighting it goes to 29 ~31. With like a second or two with red markings. I play a mage so there is a lot of effects involved when I fight, might be a factor too. Should have gone rogue.

P.S. I forgot to mention that the GTX 670M has 3gb of dedicated memory. I don't know if that helps anything.

An update: I do have another monitor that is not full HD, it is only 1366 x768, which to me fine, it is still HD right?.

I did lower the resolution in game on my main monitor, but if I chose fullscreen, windowed fullscreen or windowed and than maximize it, it didn't have much effect and to play on a small screen it is kind of annoying. So I turned my main monitor off and started playing on fullscreen with a 1366 x 768 resolution on the second one. I am pleased to inform that I am fighting and casting spells on a 60 ~70 fps and exploring on 80 ~ 90. I have fps that I don't even need since my monitor refresh rate is only 60hz. I will even bump some settings up :D

I have good old 7970 and FX8350 + 8GB Ram. I'm using mantle and I play on ultra with 2 exceptions - Post processing is on high and textures are on 'fade touched'. I got 50+ FPS, sometimes it might drop slightly below, but never lower than 45.

That's great news , 1366 * 768  means it is capable of 720p which is an HD resolution.

Just out of interest (re my post above) did you have to do anything to get Mantle working as I posted above  after re-installing my drivers (with the latest ones) I can now select Mantle in the options screen but when I restart the game I get a mantle error whilst the game is loading
