So we can't bind functions to the 3rd or 4th mouse buttons?
Is this all they had at EA studios?

hey OP, can you please add "Would like to be able to look UP when you zoom out with tac cam mode" ?
I find it incredibly annoying that you lose your ability to look up when you fully zoom out with the tac cam. I prefer a slight angle not a completely straight-down view.
I'm pretty sure dragon age origin let you do that easily but for whatever reason this tac cam completely blows.
I'm using a mouse with 10 extra buttons and all my buttons are working. I think I'm using a program called setpoint to change the buttons to pretend they're keyboard keys. Had to do it for wow.
Yes thats works.
The key point i made though is that modern mice always have a Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 buttons, usually where your thumb is. These keys do not require you to change them in the mouse software to other keys for them to work in games.
99% of games recognize the mouse 4 and mouse 5 inputs when your assigning keys ingame, but DA:I does not.
Wait a sec, guys, there is no way that you were able to pitch the tactical camera in Origins. You could rotate and pan it, but that was it. And it was fine because there was never something floating above you that you needed to target.
Origins was clearly designed with that camera in mind, because all the areas had to be coded so that their roofs disappeared when you zoomed out. While that certainly limited the design to some extent, I think the vast majority of us agree that it worked really well and made for fun tactical gameplay that was easy to control. The tactical camera in Inquisition is never going to measure up to that because the environments aren't set up to pop their roofs off when you zoom out, and fixing that would be a monumental undertaking. At best we can hope that we get better zoom for outdoor environments.
That said, being able to click to move/loot, being able to select multiple party members, being able to auto-attack in all camera modes, having a run/walk toggle, navigating menu screens that were designed for PC - these are all things that objectively belong in the PC version of this game, and PC players have every right to be extremely frustrated that they were inexplicably left out.
got to finally play it
feels good and i don't mind the controlls but hjea tac cam is utterly useless
I would *LOVE* if if when I'm tanking and I enable shield wall if my character would NOT turn 180 from the mob he just taunted. That would be wonderful.
And TAB is absolutely useless.
The only thing I miss is the ability to key bind "Take all" when looting. Everything else is fine for me. But then I play with a Razer Naga and fight mainly with the mouse and move with the keyboard. Works very well that way.
Same here, Raza Naga, good to know it works on this game. I am a pc user I have so much sympathy for pc user, mmo's just really changed how I play I have the naga for the right hand and a logitec gampro, g13 for the left hand and never ever use the keyboard with those two. I am assuming the G13 pad will work, apparently all things are bindable to keys? Still no excuse IMHO to leave so many pc users hanging. Hopefully with post by BW, the fix will be sooner rather than later

No, at best we can wish they never even went into this with such an ass-backward plan for something as basic as camera control. Seriously, who's decision was it to use a game engine that couldn't even do what a 5 year old game could?

I'm as frustrated as you by some of the monumental oversights on PC, but the indoor isometric camera from Origins was part of an overall design philosophy that was simply not used with Inquisition. Again, it allows for more freedom in level design. I think it's fair to say that there are pros and cons and reasonable people will disagree as to the wisdom of the choice.
We can certainly "wish" that the game had released in a more PC-friendly state, but I don't think that will be terribly productive. At the very least we can continue to discuss what the snubbing of the PC community says about game development in general and Bioware specifically.

Very true.
I think we can also safely make a judgement on the skill of the programmers that were tasked with making that engine work with a design that wasn't going to work the way it should. The test was clearly not passed.
