As a PC user I'm not happy with the tactical camera as it was made for consoles not PC. Why is it that the camera doesn't move with your character and you can't use it out of combat ? Also the top down view only reaches a certain hight and your can't zoom out further, what a disappointment I pre ordered the game as the tactical camera is suppose to be a like the top down view of DA 1 and this happens.

Not wasting money for DA 4.

Compleely agree. I somehow missed the real information about the tactical mode and fed by the bullshots and PR talk I also thougt I am getting real DA:O style tactical cam. DAI has some imitation of tactical mode though. It is clearly designed around the console version and gamepad usage. Basically, Bioware lied to us saying that they designed PC interface with PC in mind. They did NOT. Some problems:

- very small zoom out level

- camera can be moved only a certain distance from the selected character, no free roam

- WASD keys are used for pan&scan. Doing so with a mouse is clunky: uyou have to press both mouse buttons and move the mouse a LOT

- when moving camera, it has problems while passing over/around obstacles, as if you could only move it within the line of sight of the selected character (tough to explain)

- only ONE character can be selected at a time

I heard the camera was a bit jerky and somewhat limited in tactical mode. Guess this wasn't a priority when they had to ship a game on five platforms.

I'm sure the good folks at Bioware are open to suggestions how to improve the camera.

Might be a technical limitation or a design decision. If it's the latter, it can be addressed.

none of that has anything to do with a console

The tac cam is terrible. It gets stuck around obstacles, it is useless in small environments and it auto centers on my party members when I select them which is annoying. It's obviously an afterthought, along with KB/M controls which are really clunky.

Well those of us with a mouse and keyboard preferring using them instead of a controller on the PC, what a fail.

It's totally unplayable. For now I've stopped using tactical view completely.

Slightly off topic question guys,

Does anyone know how to disable the auto-centre when switching between characters in tactical cam? I don't have the game yet, but a friend of mine has been playing it through EA access and said it's been really annoying him. He wants to be able to assign multiple commands without having the camera snap back to each character. I've seen it done in several of the dev streams, and they said you can toggle it on/off. But he can't seem to find the option apparently. Does anyone know where it is?

Don't recall seeing an option for that.

Yeah, he reckons he can't find it anywhere. But I just skipped through the PC and PS3 streams, and on both streams they state that it's an option for tac cam. They talk about it in this video at around 1:45, and that's on the PS3. I hope they didn't remove it.
