Wait they included animations for walking but only for controllers? Why even bother if you can't include a simple toggle... Such a basic thing has been in since DA:O, why leave it out now? Makes no sense at all.

Not a crushing issue for me but I will keep my eye on this. I like to walk for flavor.

There's no cfg or ini file that contains keybindings, unfortunately.  There's  just two files in your save folder that can be opened with a text editor, but they don't have options for keys.

But... there's a "Sprint" keybinding in the options menu that's defaulted to shift.  Pressing shift doesn't affect your movement at all though, and I couldn't imagine the characters sprinting any faster than they already chug along at.  So I'm hoping this is a goof on Bioware's part and walking will be patched in.

Not surprising since the focus has been on using controllers, they probably forgot and left that sprinting button in despite it not doing anything. Hoping they patch it soon but I doubt it since things such as these tend to be thrown into the low priority box. Probably take weeks or even months.

It may also be that the sprint key only works with mounts, come to think of it.  Well... here's hoping walking gets patched in, otherwise I say we start a petition.

It kind of sucks you out of the game when your character is standing around a bunch of npc's in a rather solemn moment (random example) and you're like, "Out of my way... had Taco Bell for lunch!!".

If there's no walk button, I'll probably plug in my 360 controller for the prologue at least. But I really hope I don't have to. I despise controlling the camera and my character with a controller. Ughhhhhh, please tell me there is a walk toggle, Bioware, pleaaaaaaaaaaaase.

Yeah even most MMORPG's have a walk toggle nowadays, and most people don't use it because you're supposed to be in a hurry all the time. But in a single player game it at least makes sense to be able to walk. It's just silly not to include a toggle.

Nop, no walk button at all. There's no option in the key binds, and like the OP I tried to look up all the possibilities, and no luck. Feels really stupid running around every time, in churches, in your castle, in town talking to people... everyone cheering the hero and he just keeps on running past the crowd... big time fail.

Yah really. I mean, the start of the game you are presumably confused and filled with a sense of dread and lack of preparedness as you're forced towards a cataclysmic event... And you sprint??? I mean come on. I'd like a dramatic pacing to role-play the sense of dread my character must feel as she moved towards what would appear to be "certain doom"...

In fact, I played about 1 minute after character creation, saved and exited to come and post this comment. Kind of really takes you out of it. I hope this is patched swiftly. As it stands I'll have to plug in my controller when I continue playing tomorrow just to be able to play how I choose to.

Add me to the list of those desiring a walk toggle for a m&kb setup. As a physically disabled gamer, using a game controller isn't feasible for me; would very much appreciate the option to satisfy the roleplayer in me and walk about town. Thanks.

This is really bothering me. RP'ing without it will be a pain. Please add an option (ASAP) that fixes it.

Actually, G is for auto-run.

Huh. I had no idea walking was this popular. I've thought about how ridiculous it is for the hero to be running wildly into people's faces (and taking their stuff with impunity), but it's never really bothered me.

The Sprint key is for mount

The G is for Auto- Run :(

I had a so perfect time playing the game last night. Only thing was taking like 3-4 hours to get used to the new controllers. But as I said earlier, it annoys the hell out of me not having the option to toggle walk. Of course it might not be the 1. prio for Bioware. But for us that RP, its really annoying. I feel like the game is more and more based on having a controller rather than mouse and keyboard. I am tempting to switch it, time will show.

This was probably my first real complaint when I started playing. Ultimately, I plugged in my gamepad and it solved this particular issue--and many other issues related to the awful PC control setup BioWare sent us.

Did you plug in your controller after launching the game?

Are you ****ing kidding me? I don't even own a controller. When Bioware says 'the game we always wanted to make', they wanted to make a game only a level above a console port?!

I already hear about "oh the controls kb/m are clunky" and think, 'well I guess I'll deal'. But no walk toggle? Seriously? I even used that all the time in DAO when companions wouldn't walk. They announced you AND companions walk "I have a posse" for DAII as a FEATURE. What the **** happened...?!

Here's hoping it's added after the fact, but if it isn't there after three years of development my hopes are not even above sea level.

Yeah I exited the game once I got in control and saw I couldn't walk. I need to figure this out because I simply cannot play sprinting around everywhere like an idiot in casual or non-combat situations.

Anyone want to take a stab at the chances of this actually being patched?

Realistically, I mean. Not whether they SHOULD patch it or how much you WANT it patched in.

The animation is there, it just needs a toggle...

I'm really hoping we can get some sort of comment or acknowledgememnt from bioware of this issue. Obviously it's not the end of the world, but it's still an obvious oversight that we'd like to see rectified. I know it was a Looooong dev cycle bioware, but please, before you go on your cruises, just patch this one lil thing for meh, plez....

There's gotta be some config we can open and maybe edit the speed of running to a walk speed as a temporary options or something?? I did that in Alpha Protocol and it worked great.

Or maybe some sort of macro we can do? Virtual controller for those of us that DON'T own controllers...? Do any of those sound possible?
