This isn't going to work for me, I hope they are planning on fixing it.

I need this also. The current control is so weird
I might get used to it the longer I played but I prefer normal way. It should be mouse look when you play the normal 3rd person perspective. And you can just show mouse whenever we pause the combat or go tactical mode?

Mouse with the camera works how you would expect, hold both buttons you run, hold the right mouse and you rotate the camera, mouse wheel zooms out. etc

To those who found the fix via this AutoHotkey thing... Can one of you explain it a little more? Could really use that.

Either he's lying through his teeth, or he got a game version we didn't.

It's possible. Maybe the release date delay had everything to do with the console ui not actually being developed because all the focus was on consoles.
Pathetic as that may be, I would not be shocked.

Isn't this inconsistent with DAO and DA2? I've never had to use the keyboard to play before.
In previous games, you could use either method (keyboard or mouse) to move. In DA:I, you only have the one option (WASD).
So, it's not so much inconsistent as less able to accommodate multiple control preferences.

Mouselook should be a toggle.

Guys, it's not about controls or design flaw. This game is clearly NOT an RPG. It's an Action-RPG (more Action than RPG for me). And the combat system are just pretty BAD. Well done Bioware... and EA Marketing departement, just go to hell, morons.

For anyone looking for an easier way to mouselook, there are a few different options. Although the "Improved PC control scheme" script program at Nexus Mods is a wonderful tool for helping to improve DAI flawed UI, some people can't get it to work. Turn out that Windows has a built feature which can, in a way, allow you to turn mouse look on and off fairly easily.
Just go to your mouse properties in control panel and enable "click lock". This allows you to hold any mouse button for a predefined period of time and have it remain clicked until you click again. It's not a perfect solution, but for those of you with issues running this tool, hopefully this might be a helpful alternative. Just remember to turn off when you exit the game. I had my interval set pretty short and I found myself accident highlighting and dragging anything and everything I clicked.
Also, I tried using mouse keys, but it didn't work as well. Fastest way to try it out is to press "ctrl-alt-num lock" and then click yes. Mousekeys can then be toggled on and off by pressing the num lock key. With Mouse Keys turned on, you can press the numpad 0 button to toggle holding down the mouse button. To hold down the right mouse button, press the numpad minus button and then press numpad 0. It works but just barely, cause it's kind of a pain to have to reach over to the numpad and press 0 every time you want to mouse look... anyway... here's hoping patch 3 will be released soon with some major ui improvements. More than likely though, it will be a while before it's released, at which point we PC players will more than likely be shafted again.

Complaint about the control scheme all you want but don't pretend like this is some platform issue.
