Did you plug it in and enable it before starting the game? Otherwise the system won't recognize the controller.

Is there an ini file or something that I can change the controls back to m&k or do I need to buy a new controller to play the game?

A wild guess, but have you tried different name for the xinput library? E.g. Shadow of Mordor is looking for "xinput9_1_0.dll" instead of the common "xinput1_3.dll" which is x360ce default.Did u get x360ce to work and if so; how?

There was a mention in another thread that the "not DRM" DAI comes bundled with prevents amongst other things the mechanics used by x360ce to do their stuff, so if that's indeed the case it'd mean you're screwed :/
(and I guess it'd also mean i'll have to buy xbox controller. Thanks, BW)

Are you using the 64bit versions of the .dll's?

Certain Razer products (and maybe other products as well?) are causing problems with the controller being properly recognized. I had to unplug my Razer Nostromo to get my 360 controller to work.

I can't use a normal controller, I'm disabled.

To fix it if your controller doesn't work DELETE x360ce files and unplug your gamepad. That resets the controls back to Keyboard and Mouse. It definitely recognized the controller, just didn't want to work.

I have to use an arcade style stick because of my disability, this may reset to k&m but it doesn't mean i can play.

I know it's a bit late but I've found a reddit thread with a solution to make x360ce work.
I've tried with my crappy gamepad and works.
