I'm sitting in my living room watching a DAI walk-through on my T.V. This person chose a male character to play. Then I noticed something at the right time during the opening cute scene....
So uh....male characters have nail polish on their fingernails? Not only that why does the hand look feminine too.

You can only change your character's face, there are no body options.
It's not nail polish, it's just very finely buffed and shined nails.

Why is there no option to make my character look like a shade? What if that's how I want to express myself?
Getting rid of society's gender norms is generally seen as progressive, so yeah.
We have a very different opinion on progressive then.
Progressive would be allowing everyone to have their opinions as long as it doesn't hurt anyone or hold them back.
Was this on PC? I saw a mention earlier today of a rare bug that changes a male human after character creation to female. Maybe that's what happened here?

It's more that you have very diferent opinions about the meaning of the word progressive to most other people.
And language works on what most people think a word means so yeah.
Progressive is the kind of stuff that once gained is rarely taken away, as they are seen as progress. Things like women's right to vote, black rights, gay marriage etc.
Gender is the next frontier on that front. If a man wants to wear nail polish, there's no reason why that should be mocked.
