Is there a lot of busy work? :P

There is, but it flows naturally together. You can easily go to a zone and clear 2-3 objectives up as you go, and most of it is justified in-story. Gather meat to win the support of the refugees, kill wolves to free up passage for your new horses, destroy Templar and Apostate camps to stop a conflict in a region, etc. All of it gives you Power and Influence as well as experience, so it's not like in Skyrim where you always have to travel from one end of the province to another for a quest that just gives you 200 Septims.

I also found out the hard way that some enemies don't scale with their general areas. Normal Fade Rifts are bad enough, but in the Hinterlands (level 3-4-5) there's one that spews out level 12 greater demons. Needless to say these critters wiped the floor with poor Brandon Trevelyan and his merry band swiftly :(.

Is the lack of auto attack only on consoles or is it gone from the pc version also? Sorry, I must have missed the confirmation either way.

God, I'm confused. Here, things seem to be mostly positive, but it's like the sky is falling in our heads over in Feedback and Suggestions.

My main concern is that it's going to be annoying having to go to tac-cam whenever I want to issue orders.

While I did avoid most streams to not get spoiled, I watched one or two. I'm glad I did as I'm prepared for the bolded part (they warned us that some enemies, inluding dragons) aren't scd for lower leveled parties).

To me, that is equal parts annoying and awesome, aweome in the sense that it might be theirway of keeping you from exploring too much to early (also, if you do beat a higher level enemy, I'm sure the xp doesn't cscale back either... so the reward matches the risk :))

+1 for the lack of auto attack. I just replayed both dragon age origins and 2 over 110 hours and not having such a basic feature is killing me. The only other major complains I have are the auto focus in tactical view and that the PC can't move on her own. You have to stand right next to an object to loot, examine, etc... instead of clicking on it and have your character walk up to it. Really annoying.

All in all, these are mostly things to get just used to I suppose. It's an incredible game otherwise.

This ^^^^ 1000 times this!!!! I've not played an hour, but I have already noticed the glaring absence of auto attack. I don't want the game to play itself, but I do want it to automate the base attack so I can focus on strategizing rather than constantly remembering to hold down the left mouse button. So annoying.

Go in tactical cam and play unpaused. You'll get auto attack that way for everyone, the controlled character will not auto-use actives though. Action-mode is action-mode.
