Ordered digital deluxe through Origin. IIRC, payment was processed then (I had enough since I was saving up especially for this.)

Origin says it is available for preload 18 Nov, 6am. It is 18 Nov, 11:30am. That should be more than enough time for verification but, noooo. For some reason I'm told to wait.

I'm in New Zealand, using New Zealand dates. Are they not supposed to be based on my own timezone? Am I actually waiting for the 22nd to play...?!

You are forgetting about time dilation between us and the rest of the world.  The wormhole did it.

But I thought Origin was supposed to be using my own times. Seriously? If I buy it retail I can play it on the 21st, but I get digital and have to wait until 22nd? How does that make even a lick of sense?!

We're a day ahead of everyone else, so our 18th is (roughly) their 17th. If it's not loading or anything by tomorrow then I'd start panicking.  ^_^

Well.. that's what you get for living at the edge of the world. (Has anyone of your friends ever fallen off? :P)

To be perfectly honest though: I have no idea why, in this digital age where we pay for downloads... there's different release dates for different countries.

Worse than that - the digital release is AFTER the physical one. Physical may not allow for preload, fair enough, but if the error is a result of timezone, that means the release date is falsified. They say it releases 21st in my country, but won't let us touch it until 22nd? That's got to be bull****. Considering Origin has accurate local region info for me, I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be release for GMT+12 (its GMT+11 right now because daylight savings). In which case shady as **** that its not letting me do anything.

Well, the reason given is to placate retailers that have to respect street dates.  Why would anyone buy from them on Thursday (or whenever) when they could simply download the game on Tuesday?  The time when few people had sufficient bandwidth to do this is pretty much done.  Deals are made with channel partners likely have to work for all parties.

Now, whether or not the reason excuses it, is really a matter of opinion.  I'm fine with it.  If you're not, that's cool.

I could talk about time dilation again, but your post sounds stressed, so I'll refrain.

What I will say, is that some "progress bars" have - in my experience - shown percentage downloaded of total data, and others have shown a "time complete" percentage, so the decrease in percentage could simply be bottlenecking in your connection that means the total download will take longer than initially thought.  That seems pretty unlikely to me, but that's what I've noticed in the past.

Regardless, good luck.
