Points 3 and 4 have me very worried. With each person commenting on it, just keeps getting worse. :( Ugh...are the controls near unplayable or something you think we can get used to as you put in the hours?

Btw check http://www.reddit.co...cene_framerate/for a possible 30 fps solution on cutscenes. Haven't tried it myself since I can't play yet, but worth a shot I guess.

I have a 360 controller, and would probably try it out sometime. The kb+m is not Dark Souls level of ludicrous, but it is quite bad. When I need to micromanage, I will tend to pause the game and go into isometric view(ie. tac cam), but it is extremely clunky and simply puts me off from using it at all.

Tactics system is hopeless for now, so much so that I may have to permanently drop off a companion mage (since i'm playing one) altogether.

There are also bound to be new issues and bugs if I unlock the cutscene framerate. Annoying, but I'll deal with it.

About 5-6 hours in:

> The game looks and runs great on my high end PC on ultra. Haven't noticed any performance issues or framerate drops other than cutscenes being locked at 30.

> All the characters are great as well, which was expected for BioWare.

> Plenty of stuff to go exploring for, at least in the first big area I was in.

> The controls can be awkward at times for KB/M. I'm using the pause a lot more for simple target swaps in combat, which is something I didn't need to do in Origins or DA2. They definitely take some getting used to.

> A small thing, but I don't get why I can't right click loot to have my character walk over to it and pick it up. I have to manually walk over first.

> The game doubles as a great herb picking and mining simulator(Seriously, elfroot and iron are everywhere)

Overall so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

12 hours so far. Feeling bored already.

1. Alot of bland filler content that they added just for timesink.

2. Tactical camera is terrible. Cant zoom high to see battlefield.

3. I hate a switch from traditional healing through spells and abilities to healing potions spam. This dumbed down tactical depth and made playing

on Nightmare torture instead of challenge.

4. Looting is clunky and bad. I want to grab stuff quickly and move on.

5. Graphics is decent, but nothing jaw dropping. Believe it or not, my modded Skyrim looks way better.

6. Main story - mediocre.

7. Character development could be better. Some abilities are just not fun. And Id like to see more ranks of improving useful skills.

8. Poor optimization. Battlefield 3 on same engine flies like a batterfly on my PC. DAI isnt smooth at all.

9. Many annoying little things that they could easily fix before release but didnt care. Like when you run forward and press M, map appears but imediately scrolls up. Or your character doesnt autoattack in normal mode.

10. Followers stuck and dont listen commands sometimes.

11. Enemy patrols respawn constantly which I hate.

12. Goddamn chests and gold piles put in random places ruin immersion for me. Skyrim did so much better job at treasures placement.

13. Character creator is bad and doesnt offer variety in characters you can make. There are many sliders but I just couldnt make what I want.

14. Crafting - I dont know where all those praises come from. THey just made you grind more resources, thats it. Not much real depth here.

15. Multiplayer - boring grindfest where you forced to grind and grind and grind to even make class you like. Played one match. Never again I touch this garbage.

There are good things too ofc.

Follower characters are pretty cool and Id like to learn more about them. Music is awesome, especially bards. Also big bosses look cool until you realise combat is so shitty that you dont want to fight them unless its easy difficulty.

The controls were hard for me to get used to at first. I kept jumping instead of attacking when a battle got a little rough.
The tactics mode a little getting used to at first, but once you get it, it's super useful.

I had super fun and haven't stayed up that late to play a game in forever.

I think I am going to start this game on casual so I can take some time to get used to what they've done with the PC controls and the tac cam. No way after reading this am I leaping into harder modes till I am used to how this thing plays!

Okay, all the PC info are (mosty) encouraging...  but considering I'm getting the ps3 version, I would love a non-spoilery impression on that version of the game. Besides the obvious (graphics, less npc's and other info pre-released), how is the game in comparison to other ps3 games (the big mistake I'm seeing is that people are comparing the game to next gen version of the same game. That is very masochistic)?

This is quite bad. I'm one of those people that relied very heavily on tactics in previous games (esp in origins where I modded the game to add more options) so this doesn't sound like fun to me at all. Especially on my first playthrough I like to take it easy and choose a lower difficulty so I can get the hang of stuff without game-y micromanaging and stuff coming in the way of the things. Unlike the kb+m keybinding and cutscene issues, I'm not even confident this could see a fix in a patch.

I'm with you but sadly they don't make those games anymore. This is the next best thing.

right now hair is a helmet asset (i.e. hair has the same reflection graphic as a steel helmet)..  im sure this will get fixed.

im not a fan of holding R for basic attack.. i wish they would have just kept auto-attack.

looting is clunky.  i should be able to right click the loot icon/chest and hit R to take all the items.

two-handed weapon fighting seems a bit slow.  i might have to restart as a rogue or a mage.  but ill give it some more time and see how i like it.

havent really dived into the other systems yet so holding off on commenting further.

About 10 hours in, and I love it.

Controls take some getting used to, as the tactical camera is a bit odd in tight places. But after a while, I managed, so it's not too bad.

Overall story, can't say much about that, because I am just so busy doing stuff in the areas that I am barely following it. From what I gather, it's okay.

Side stories and followers are great. You are given context to everything and that makes the side stuff very rewarding.

Graphics are good, I've only had performance dips when a lot was going on on screen. Haven't played with the new Nvidia driver yet, maybe it will help.

So far, the game has me more entertained than both DAO and DA2. I'm looking forward to some of the grander developments, once I'm done with all the sidequesting (so far have only gone through two areas of many).

~10 hours in so far (PC).

The introduction felt very rushed. You pretty much get thrown into the cold water after an hour or so and many people already put tons of faith in you, which just seems..weird. Thankfully it's not as bad as in ME3, though.

KB&M controls are atrocious. Why do I have to keep pressing R for auto-attack ? Why can't I zoom out the tactical cam more? -it's pretty useless like this. Why can't I press one button to "loot all"? There's tons of stuff to loot and it's getting old fast. Why isn't there a button to highlight lootable things in the area? (the search button feels 1:1 copied from the amulet button in The Witcher2 -and it was already impractical in that game)

...and yet I am immensely enjoying the game so far. It's definitely an improvement over DA2. Verdict is still out if I'll end up liking it more than DA:O, though.

Not sold yet about 3 hours in.

The controls on PC are terrible. At first I thought it was borderline unplayable but then I realized 'F' activated things without clicking them, so I remapped that to 'E' and it's better now. Still, it plays like a control pad game though and through, which is disappointing. Say what you will about Dragon Age 2's flaws at least it controled and played like a PC game on PC.

Gameplay... seems okay. More action focused but not necassarily in a bad way. The areas look lovely (and this on a 4 year old rig) and seem really wide open so far.

So... I finished the prologue. I had to spent another hour in character creator, as one time I discovered that hair was phasing through my forehead, just after I finished CC - I knew this would bug me the entire game, so I had to start from scratch. The next time I got the gender bug, so I had to restart again :D

I'm getting into combat. I seriously am. I still think it's annoying to hold down button for attack (at least R is better than LMB) and I'm not sold on tactical camera - it irritates me, that I cannot give companions movement directions without entering TacCam. Because of that, I end up moving a lot less.

I still absolutely adore limited healing. It's so incredibly good. I managed to save 7 potions for a boss battle in prologue, and dear Maker did I need those.

If I wasn't careful and resourceful during other fights, I'd probably have to reload the game (and the boss battle was long - but not Ancient- 'dear god please make it stop' - Rock Wraith type of long). Because I managed to save resources, I was able to pull out a victory by the skin of my teeth.

Finally it matters how you approach those 'filler' fights and they serve actual purpose instead of just feeding you XP.

Having to stand next to an item to loot it is just annoying as hell though. Not the greatest design decision.

I saw a bit of Hinterlands, and graphics seem to be getting even more amazing. Definately, both in terms of graphics and character creator this is the title that other RPGs must compare themselves to now

As to conversations, I pretty much always know what my character is going to say - although I still don't know what all 'emotion' icons mean.

I'm enjoying it so far. I found prologue mission to be very good - probably the most interesting in the series. It was a hint of things to come I suppose.

Pity that I have to study. I just cannot wait to play more.

The negatives:

-It feels so fragile. My character moves much more slowly and with more weight and presence than they did in DA2. And my PS3 fan kicks up when it plays. Hope it won't wreck my machine.

-The textures aren't really great on PS3

-Lack of scars make me a sad panda. My Qunari Rogue is just to goddamn beautiful without them. He's supposed to be Qunari! Well at least I gave him a broken nose. Nope, still too pretty.

The postives:

- MY GOD THIS GAME IS SO HUGE!

- SERIOUSLY THIS GAME IS EFFING HUGE! I was in

Spoiler

- The conversations! The breadth of the conversations you can have in this game.

- The battle system it's so much fun. Well the Tactical camera is another story but so far even on Hard I don't find myself using it.

- The game is gorgeous even with all the textures and pop ups

- The CC is incredible, even without scars.

Really wish I could put scars on my characters tho.

My Character Record is locked, with no way of unlocking it. I cannot Read the Codex Cards because I cannot Scroll the text down on the right side. Cannot find the Tactical Camera or switch to different Party Members. Old gen textures and resolutions look worse than DA2. After about 20 minutes that what I got so far...

Is this an old consoles thing? Or a Qunari thing?

I had plenty of scar options when I was creating my elf, even on default models.

About 10 hours in, the game plays amazing on my PS4.  I love the tactical cam and can not only zoom out but also slow down or speed up time while in combat using the L and R triggers.   Having an absolute blast.  The tactical cam is one of the best features IMO.

The game is really optimized for consoles.  Love it.

So I'm only 2 hours in, and haven't made it out of Haven yet. So far it's awesome. The characters and dialogue options are great, I feel like there are far more options than usual. I'm particularly liking Solas. I'm loving just wandering around and getting to know all the vendors. Threnn in particular is interesting.

It just seems like I'm about to set off on a grand adventure. I love the feeling.

I'm playing the deluxe digital version on Xbox One.  I had the good fortune of a six hour EA pass trial, so I'd already played the tutorial level 3 times with different classes.  Finally settled on the Archer Rogue, because I really liked the synergy between cloaking and finding better and better vantage points for taking "Long Shots" (and the rogue is a good lockpicker, so getting those collectible codex entries was easier).

After a mere 10 hours or so of gameplay, I am absolutely floored by this game.  It has exceeded all of my expectations.  I could nitpick about a few things, like having no control over your attribute points, but trust me when I tell you, a few hours into the game you'll forget all about this.  It is a vibrant game world, filled with interesting people and quests to keep you busy.  Although it's still early, I can tell that there is a synergy between what appears to be simple side quests and the larger, overarching story.

For me, the bottom line is that Bioware writes a good game.  The story and the character development is excellent.  Setting it in this beautiful world that is more open than either of the other two games is just icing on the cake.  I went out exploring around haven, and made the mistake of shooting something called a Druffalo, only to have it chase me around a frozen lake for 5 minutes.  And I was giddy with enjoyment the entire time.  I'm exploring every corner of the Chantry building, finding crafting supplies, picking locks.  I don't want to rush anything, because the care that Bioware has put into creating this world is obvious.

I can't say enough about Dragon Age Inquisition.  Even though I've only scratched the surface, it feels like it might be the best game I've played on the Xbox One.

So... my tally so far is:

Next gen console players: love it!
PC players: game looks gorgeous, but controls/camera/bugs are wonky
Current/last gen players: looks like it was made in 2007
All players: Main story doesn't exactly suck you in, but companions are great and quests/optional content is through the roof.

That about sum it up?

My first impression after importing my world state and creating my badass qunari warrior: pretty cool but I must say, face animation seriously needs some work for the next Dragon Age.

And as for the Keep import, well let us just say it was a real pain in the ass. Then again because I had never connected my PS4 so I had to update the system, register for PSN, disconnect and use another device to verify my PSN ID, then had to download and install the DAI patch, bla bla bla....

What a pain in the ass.
