Hello, twice now I've had a crash to desktop with the following error message: http://imgur.com/k5UtiVc

Once the game crashes I am unable to start it up again without this error message constantly popping up before the EA/Bioware logo shows up, only a PC reboot seems to fix this problem temporarily allowing me to play again.

GTX 680

i7 3770k @ 4.3ghz

16 gig ram

Win 8.1

latest nvidia drivers

I know that NVIDA hasn't released a new graphics driver for the game yet.  That might be the cause of your DirectX issue.

Yeah indeed I am aware of this, I keep hitting that check for updates in my nvidia geforce experience software but nothing so far. I usually don't end up getting any serious issues with games, figures I'd get it in one of my most anticipated games of the last couple years.

Figure I'd throw this out there though incase someone else has the same issue and could report in.

Someone created a thread for my own graphics driver, so I'll keep an eye out.   I'm holding off on playing DA:I til tomorrow, so I'll either post here and/or send you a PM if I read anything about a new driver.   :)

I am having the same exact message, except my driver is a GTX 650 Ti BOOST. Good to know this error is not an isolated incident--meaning it will probably get fixed promptly.

I'm in the same boat! Hope they fix it soon. (I also have a 650 Ti Boost).

Three DirectX errors causing CTD for me over about a two hour period.

Getting this same error quite often with an HD 6850, Phenom 2 x4 @ 3.8 ghz and 8 GB RAM on W7. Really irritating.

So yeah, this is not just an nVidia problem. I have a strong suspicion it is in fact a Dragon Age problem.

Had a problem, though I'm running 260's. This fixed it for me, might help some of you.

I have the same problem and the same exact errors.

I have updated to the latest drivers (mine were already pretty recent) and will try again.

I had it too. It means that you have setted your graphic settings too high for your GPU to handle.

Go to Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age Inquisition\ and remove the file ProfileOptions_Profile. This will reset the settings back to default and let you play the game.

I didn't change any video settings, I left it at "automatic" and still had several directx errors. I'm running

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel i5 3570k
8gb ram
evga GTX 660
and the game is installed on a Crucial SSD

so meeting at least the recommended specs

Nvidia will release new drivers today (Tuesday). Be patient.

Well then let's hope new drivers will fix the issue! In the mean time I'm gonna lower some very FPS heavy settings like MSAA, see if that helps. Currently running the game on pretty much everything ultra with post process AA at high and MSAA and 2x, will turn of MSAA to start with. It should be said however that at these settings I get a very playable FPS with my machine at around 45-60 FPS.

I know for sure that this was a problem present also in Battlefield 4 and many people still have it. Some have resolved it by downloading update 4 of VS 2008 but for others no luck.

Let's hope new Nvidia drivers resolve the issue but I somewhat doubt it.

Crap. I'm an AMD user having the same issue, and installing a new driver didn't fix it.

Running a Sapphire Radeon HD, so it's more than Nividia, just as another poster mentioned.  Graphics aren't too much to handle, because when it does work, it works well.  So far, the crashes have been rather inconsistent in their frequency, but VERY consistent when they happen.  The crashes always happen during a cutscene, but not at any other time.  And it isn't guaranteed to crash during that particular cutscene.

I just downloaded the new drivers for NVIDIA, but to no avail. First cutscene I am in and I get a CTD.

I got this after about two hours last night. I'm updating my drivers now. So this will or won't help?

Has anyone found a fix? Resetting the profile settings to 1/deleting the file doesn't do anything. It just reverts back to automatic settings as soon as I start the game.
