OK. I have had enough. What is a C.T.D.?
Can a dose of penisillin cure it? Which romances are causing this?
No I have not read the thread. I am asking (always with humour) for people who know what CTD means to give a noob like me a clue.

CTD = Crash To Desktop
Have the same issue. Recurring CTD every 30-60 mins or so. Need reboot PC as the mouse is locked in desktop mode and game won't close in task manager.
Got newest NVIDIA driver (344.75) for GeForce GTX 760 on Windows 8.1.
Try installing the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4, this article lists it as a fix: http://segmentnext.c...zes-save-fixes/

Didn't work for me.
You might wan to browse this forum. There are some EA guys trying to help people with this problem:

Run a diagnostic before you post, as Niels suggests and explains here:
"Please post a DXDIAG of your computer, by following the steps below:
1. Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
2. You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
3. Type dxdiag in the text field
4. Click OK
5. If your computer has a 64-bit version of Windows, click the button Run 64-bit DXDIAG (see screenshot below)
6. If your computer has a 32-bit version of Windows, that button will not be available
7. Click the Save All Information button, found on the bottom of the DXDIAG report
8. Save this text file to your Desktop if possible
9. Open the text file, select all the text inside (Ctrl + A) and copy it (Ctrl +C).
10. Go to http://hastebin.com/, paste the contents of your DXDiag inside (Ctrl+V) and click Save on the webpage (Ctrl+S).
11. Copy the link of the page in your post, along with a precise description of your issue.
Cheers,
Nils"
Cutscenes & Warroom.
Both have 90% chance to CTD. I run Skyrim with over 100 mods, to make it lifelike, I don't get a stutter. You game ain't even close to that lvl of graphic intensiveness. So I shouldn't be getting CTDs with your Cutscences or Warroom
I call shoddy coding, damn it really pisses me off. DA: II, shame on you, ME3(I didn't buy), DA:I, shame on me I guess. I should of expected this.....
I've had this crash dozens of times now over the 40 hours I've put into the game, always during cutscenes. The first time I loaded the game I spent 40 minutes in the character creator and then promptly crashed during the intro cutscene!
I've tried numerous suggestions(changing settings in the Nvidia control panel, re-installing DirectX, lowering shadows/tessellation/ambient occlusion, installing Visual Studio C++ redistributable, adding command line tags to the DAI shortcut). Nothing fixes the problem. Turning ambient occlusion off entirely seemed to help the most, but it may have just been random chance. It's just weird that I can run around the world for hours with no problems, and then crash after 30 seconds in a cutscene. I spam quick save as much as I spam search now...
Getforce GTX 760
i5 2500k
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64
Gonna try running the game in a borderless window and see how it goes.
Hey, I found this suggestion online, helped me a lot (still had 2-3 crashes, but not every 30 min, longest run was 4h...).
Appearently the 30fps cap for cutscenes causes this, adding following to the shortcut increases it to 60fps, but seems like the second command forces you to simulate 60fps, so sometimes when fps dropped my character looked like he was running in (almost) slow motion... but changing the value (60+) to less made the cutscenes go too fast, so i leave it as is... try it out...
Add the red commands to your shortcut:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Dragon Age Inquisition\DragonAgeInquisition.exe" -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+
Good luck, i hope this will be patched soon...
It did happen to me few minutes ago, during character creation. Nasty business.
EA tech support told me to uninstall the game then reinstall it to fix the issue. I am doing it now... will let others know if it fixes the issue.
This is crazy not only does the game crash but it completely restarts my PC. Not gonna lie I play quite a few games and never have had issues even close to this. The game first freezes for a moment (usually cut-senses) then completely crashes my PC and restarts on it's own I have to restart it. I've checked my GPU's and that is not the issue they're more then cool enough to be playing and I even went as far as to turn most everything to high or med when I was having no problem according to my FPS counter before on Ultra.
Specs:
GTX 670 4GB SC - SLI (Not OC other then stock)
i7-2700k (Not OC)
16GB Ram
W7 Ultimate 64-Bit
i fixed that problem to chaning my region to U.S and from nvidia control panel changing phsyx to cpu not gpu.i have double-gpu gtx760 and i had same promlem now its solved.i remember when da.origins released there was a problem about dlc.i guess it wasnt working properly and i solved that again changing region from control pane l to U.S again. So wtf is going on with Bioware
why should i change my region to fix these kinda problems idk?
Having the same problem here too. I'm giving it some time before I'm sending it back but thankfully amazon are giving me a pretty decent time period to do so.
I've tried a few things to tinker with it. I was playing it with high settings even though my processor is a little under recommended and I was crashing every four or five cutscenes depending on their length. Then I tried rebooting the game and lowering my graphics settings. That actually made it worse, nearly unplayable. So, I'm back up to high settings and just save after every cutscene and I spend most of my time clearing out the regions. I don't crash in regular game play.
I've been living with this problem for the 95 hours I've played DA:I so far. Definitely would be nice to have a permanent fix patched in, if possible. Saving a lot helps avoid big replays.
I found that it's post fx, ambient occlusion, effects quality and post process AA causing the crash. One or all of them cause it. Turn msaa and tessellation off too just for good measure and they hog FPS too. So if it happens a lot to you turn all those to the lowest possible setting or off. Then turn one on at a time to see if your crashes are still happening. I know I will for sure get a character creator dx crash with those settings maxed so when I do create a character, i turn all those buggy video settings to low/off so i don't crash during that part (really sucks).
I have latest nvidia drivers and my system:
i5-3570
gtx 670
8g ram
Game runs great with adjusted settings, but it's not a cheap ass laptop so i think I shouldn't ever get these crashes regardless of my settings...but that's how it is it seems.
My non crash video settings for those interested:
-Mesh Quality: Ultra
-Tessellation Quality: Off
-Texture Quality: High
-Shadow Quality: High
-Terrain Quality: Ultra
-Vegetation Quality: Ultra
-Water Quality: Ultra
-Post Process Quality: Medium
-Ambient Occlusion: HBAO Full
-Post Process AA: Medium
-Multi-Sample AA: Off
Again, my system:
i5 3570
gtx 670
8gb
I think it's post process quality and post process AA that cause crashes if boosted too high... not 100% sure, but these settings work great.
Runs 60fps unless in high population or high vegetation area
So... still have that problem and after those Directx crashes i have global problem with all my games installed on PC.Now it says i have no enough memory or just crashes and disables monitor signal.... any1 has same problem? or almost same....GTX 760 here. I've been playing all new games on ultra settings till i met DA:I ....
you probably corrupted your page file by crashing. You have to disable it, reboot, delete, reboot and enable. skating on thin ice trying to over extend your resources. be careful hard crashes are not a good sign. check temps and resources... can't squeeze blood from a stone.
I'd like to know if anyone can confirm this on win 7 or if it's just a win 8 issue. I'm doing fine with win7 and latest drivers on my 660ti.
Ok . From the start. I have installed DA:Inq played few hours. On ultra settings.Had already installed Shadow of Mordor,Wolfenstein and etc. new games. All at full max settings. With no problem. After i've switched my DA to Full Screen Windowed i had an error Directx msg. From this point i couldnt play any of these games .... Its "not enough memory" or CTD with simple "need to close app" msg.And Directx issue from DA only. I have reinstalled my windows (was planned before i had problems) and no changes..... Same "not enough memory" CTD and Directx errors. Does anyone know what can i do to solve it? It realy makes me sad =\ I have GTX 760 with latest drivers installed. All these problems i have after DA:Inq crash. Please, need some advice for computer noob user.
