Was wondering a few things regarding the classes. I haven't picked up the game yet, as my rig is a bit outdated. I wanted to see if there are tips I can get for picking out my class.  I've played both as a Rogue and Mage in the first game and its expansion, both on Nightmare difficulty. I was forced to reduce my difficulty in the 2nd game as the Mage was not the same as before - it is rather squishier. There was this perk in the first game that allowed me to deck out my Mage in melee equipment with made it a Tank among mages - this was never translated in the second game effectively. (You'd have to build your Mage with points in Strength which was a total waste.)

I read some things about the new specialization, "Knight Enchanter," and I am thinking this is the way that the Battle Mage will come back for Inquisition. But little detail is shared online as of the moment. Or whether you can get into different specializations throughout the game. The Rift Mage sounds interesting as well.

I'm just wondering if the Melee Mage is back in town or would I rather go with a Rogue? The Tempest specialization seem interesting as well.  Basically, I really enjoy melee but not to a point of choosing a Warrior. I like weaving back and forth the battlefield to draw out some of the confrontation to help the designated tank. Hope there's someone who can give me some tips on this.

If you want your Inquisitor to be a real man (or woman), play a warrior.

Thanks for sharing your view on things. While I do understand that a warrior's role is very pivotal I feel that their role is more predetermined than the other two classes. The basic sense of the warrior is pretty much there already and I don't want to dabble in that further - and I feel I will be enjoying the company of the warriors that the game threw in already. (I don't find most of the Mages and Rogues all that appealing.)

I get your point that the warrior is uber macho being in the front line and taking on most of the punishment - it's a crucial role. If you fail as a warrior, the rest of your party will break. True. I want to trade that challenge for the variety that the other two classes might offer.
