In Windows 7 have Xonar STX card. 64 bit. All other games work fine.
Basically ambient sounds are ridiculously loud, all other sound effects and extremely quiet. Soundcard supports EAX but that's not an option in there.

Sound can be an issue. I ended up using DirectSound 3D with light HRTF as the best compromise. EAX should be an option, but I didn't find that it worked very well.
I don't have that audio option, just have directsound 3d software.
I have a Xonar, although mine's an old D2X. I have a choice of EAX, EAX 2, 3 DirectSound3D setups, Miles Fast 2D and RAD Game Tools.
Sounds like you might not have all the software loaded or configured. You could try DX Diagnostics. I don't think it's an NWN2 issue.

Do you have Windows 7 running 64 bit?
I have Windows 8.1 running 64 bit.
I have Windows 8.1 running 64 bit.
hmm maybe i'll upgrade and see what happens lol
Maybe that will work. But you will need to make sure you get the latest drivers and software - I recall I had to do a bit of searching to find the right ones.
I don't know what it is with soundcard makers and their drivers/software, but they've always been flaky.
