It's above the Ultra option but what exactly does it add? First I ever hear of this.

I heard Fade Touched is simply using Ultra textures but increases Texure Cache, so it requires cards with more than 2GB memory as more textures remain in memory.

I have no proof or anything though. I use Ultra, although i'm sure Fade Touched wouldn't hurt me as i have a 780 with 3GB

When I turned it off it made the bear rugs a lot less shiny, which I prefer since bear rugs shouldn't be shiny.

Has there been any confirmation if Fade Touched textures actually make a difference? I was playing with it on til now. I want to start using NVIDIA DSR and my fps would drop during certain cutscenes. I changed Fade Touched to Ultra and took a few screenies at 1440p and literally could not see a difference. The only difference was the huge boost I got back in fps.

I've been looking for an answer on this for a while, and I'm stumped as well. No noticeable difference outside of a relatively large increase in stuttering.

I should probably add that I was playing with everything at max, except for no AA, at 1440p. However, certain cutscenes would just destroy my fps. I dropped the textures down to Ultra and was able to up AA to 2x and it runs perfectly. I think I actually preferred the screenshots with Ultra textures instead of Fade Touched since I could nudge in the extra AA.

Check out the link in the first line of my signature, and see if that helps you out.  It's good for other graphic tweaking ideas as well.   :)

Thanks...I haven't had any stuttering, etc. My only problem was ganked fps during certain cutscenes with using Fade Touched textures @ 1440p. With 1080p the problem was non-existent.

I suppose my problem is that 3gb isn't enough for my 780 ti to push Fade Touched textures @ 1440p. It's ok though, as I said above I literally could not see a difference in my screenshots, and I actually preferred being able to use the extra 2x AA.

Anyone still wondering? I took two screenshots comparing them. To be honest I don't see a big difference between Ultra and Faded, may be some textures look a bit sharper on certain items but I can't really tell when playing. When I took these screenshots, everything was on Ultra, HBAO, MSAA off, 1080p.

It's a small difference, not worthy for those that don't notice these kind of stuff.

Since I do, it's FT for me.
