Same problem. Game starts, logo comes up, get the spinning circle thing, black screen. Can hear music in background for 5 seconds then music goes off and black screen stays forever (left it to sit for 15 minutes to see what happens, still won't work).

Ran a "repair game" through origin just incase, it re-installed some files but the same thing still happens.

Meet / exceed system requirements.

Athlon II X2 250 3.0 GHz

Whilst knowing my processor doesn't meet the minimum requirements I hope it this blackscreen is not related to it. Like others I noticed 99% load on CPU. Alas, I hope the issue gets resolved soon and we all can enjoy the game. Even us dual cores!

Just wanted to report the issue.

I have this exact problem. I tried updating my AMD drivers and this happened

AMD Drag and Drop Transcoding - Fail

AMD APP SDK Runtime - Fail

Existing packages
AMD Catalyst Install Manager
AMD Display Driver
HDMI Audio Driver
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
AMD Accelerated Video Transcoding
AMD Media Foundation Decoders
AMD VISION Engine Control Center

It still does not work.

I'm going to try to repair my installation file and see if it works, otherwise I'm going to sleep!

Very, very disappointed in Bioware though!

I've waiting for this game to release for ages and to sit up until midnight only to have to put up with this is so frustrating and annoying! Especially If i have to now invest in a brand new processor just to play the game, even though my present one should be more than good enough to run the game.

Update: Tried repairing the setup. didn't change a thing. Still stuck on the black-screen after the message about auto saving

That can't be CPU problem! My Athlon triple core gets to about 64% when trying to play the game, with Origin and Chrome on, and it worked much harder when loading DA:O, you could even hear the cooler working harder, but that's not happening this time around at all. It just won't start!

Me and my brother both purchased DA:I, however he purchased digital and he purchased mine thru game stop(hardcopy)...He is playing right now while I am jumping up and down screaming at this dumb bug for people including myself and they say its processor issue.  Well as you can see, quads, duals, triples, 10 processors, etc, all having issues.  Here are some things I asked him when I started having issues...hey when you downloaded DA did it ask you to update it?  His response "huh?" So I started having issues in the beginning origins was not beeping like it did for my brothers digital download, so I restarted origins and it did beep finally, so tried again, got a little further into the loading screen but I didn't say anything about my free content so I went back out, restarted origins again and it beeped again saying you have the soundtrack now...tried again, and were I am stuck...the EA comes up, the saving circle swirls, then a black screen with a DA reticle that I can move...my brother stated that screen took a minute for him as well but not 30 min which I have been waiting now.

PLEASE FIX<BUMP POST>

I have a quad core processor and my computer meets all of the requirements and I'm having the exact same issue. I've repaired the game, redownloaded and reinstalled, updated my drivers, made sure directx was up to date, and nothing. I can't even hear the music when the black screen appears, the cursor shows up for a second then it crashes. In that brief time the black screen is open, I can hear my computer's cooking system start. This is endlessly frustrating and there has been no response to this issue here or at the EA technical page.
