A user from the EA help suggested this as a possible work around:

 

As soon as the game starts, open the Taskmanager, search the "dragonageinquisition.exe", right click it, search "Set Affinity" and disable one or more cores. When you are in the game, do the same to enable all cores back again.

Thank you for this. The soldiers are actually marching with any pauses or skips. Thank you so much for this.

 

My only regret is that I didn't search for help before I quickly pressed new game and reluctantly resigned myself to using the default world state since the game kept freezing whenever I tried to log in. 

 

Oh well, that will just be my 2ndary run.

I recently upgraded my graphics card to stop the frame rate issue and the getting stuck issue came back. SO I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but I was looking on Origin to see if there was an update on the game.  Of course there wasn't but I decided to try a different tack,

 

I used the repair game choice and it worked, after Orgin went through the files I started the game and got past the problem area with no issues, the frame rate problem is gone because of the new card and the game plays well. I hope this helps some of you who are still having problems with this issue.

 

Never mind scratch that I guess it was a one time thing, back to square one. I'm tempted to try the disable/re-enable core trick but just on  principle I'm holding out till BW get's there S**t together.

Hmmm going to try some of these fixes. I just randomly started getting this freeze bug a couple days ago. Didn't have any startup issues before that.

The game used to crash when on title screen all the time. Switched to offline and I can get it running always on first attempt

Affinity trick is the only way that I can get into the game 100% of the time now. It consistently crashes otherwise.
