Radeon HD 7970, tried with both the latest stable and latest beta drivers. Neither works, it just says DirectX 11 is the only API supported on my system.

It is locked for me too. R290 here and Mantle works on BF4.

Any solutions Bioware?

I had the same problem. I fixed it by uninstalling the ATI drivers completely via the ATI installer, rebooting, and then reinstalling the drivers (latest beta AMD released specifically for DA:I and Far Cry 4).

Do you have the 14.11.2 driver?

I do now, a full uninstall then reinstall was required - then it works :)

Make sure to do a reg clean too I'd say guys, just to be safe.

I reinstalled the driver roughly 5 times to no avail before realizing that Windows update was sabotaging my attempts at cleanly installing. Follow the below steps exactly and you should be able to enable mantle support, assuming your hardware is good enough.

(Instructions written for Windows 8.1 but should be easy enough to follow on 7):

Disable Windows automatic driver install.

  1. Hit Windows-Pause/Break
  2. Click "Advanced system settings" in the lefthand bar
  3. Click the "Hardware" tab
  4. Click "Device Installation Settings"
  5. Click "No, let me choose what to do"
  6. Click "Never install driver software from windows update"
  7. Save changes

This prevents Windows from automatically installing an out of date GPU driver while you're trying to do the next two steps. You can put this setting back when you're done.

Uninstall all AMD Software

  1. Open Control Panel -> Uninstall a program
  2. Click "AMD Catalyst Install Manager", then "Change"
  3. Choose the option "Express Uninstall All AMD Software"
  4. Click through the uninstall

Doubly uninstall the graphics driver

  1. Open device manager
  2. Right click on your GPU device (it's under Display adaptors) and hit "Uninstall"
  3. Check the box to delete the driver too

Delete any cached AMD driver installers

  1. Open C:\AMD\ and just trash everything in there, particualrly folders with names like "WU-CCC2"
  2. Reboot your PC once you've done this

Your PC will now have no GPU driver when it reboots and your resolution will likely be reset. This is normal.

Install AMD Catalyst 14.11.2 Beta Drivers

  1. http://support.amd.c...leaseNotes.aspx
  2. Not gonna step-by-step this one
  3. Reboot again when done

Now when you launch Dragon Age, you SHOULD be able to select Mantle as your graphics API in the Display settings. You can put back the automatic driver install now.

I thought it was AMD being stupid. Turns out it's AMD and Microsoft being stupid in concert.

I don't think so. According to AMD's website, Mantle is supported on the following product lines:

Following the steps illustrated by Donkey Kong got it working for me.  Thanks dude!

EDIT:  I'm experiencing a minor issue since installing the beta drivers.  I can no longer open the Catalyst Control Center utility, which is unfortunate because my second screen is HDMI and requires a display adjustment in order to get the picture to completely fill out the screen.  I think I'm going to add a couple of steps into the above and start over.  See below for my modifications:

Uninstall all AMD Software

  1. Open Control Panel -> Uninstall a program
  2. Click "AMD Catalyst Install Manager", then "Change"
  3. Choose the option "Express Uninstall All AMD Software"
  4. Click through the uninstall

Doubly uninstall the graphics driver

  1. Open device manager
  2. Right click on your GPU device (it's under Display adaptors) and hit "Uninstall"
  3. Check the box to delete the driver too

Delete any cached AMD driver installers

  1. Open C:\AMD\ and just trash everything in there, particualrly folders with names like "WU-CCC2"
  2. Reboot

Your PC will now have no GPU driver when it reboots and your resolution will likely be reset. This is normal.

Install Display Driver Uninstaller 13.5.2.0

  1. http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/
  2. Run the program
  3. Reboot

Install CCleaner

  1. Run CCleaner for file removal
  2. Run CCleaner for registry key fixes
  3. Reboot

Install AMD Catalyst 14.11.2 Beta Drivers

  1. http://support.amd.c...leaseNotes.aspx
  2. Perform a custom installation
  3. Uncheck "AMD Gaming Evolved"
  4. Reboot

EDIT #2: The above steps rectified my issues with Catalyst Control Center.  :)
