I've tried turning the family settings off, I've tried to turn them on and enable everything, but every time I tried to load up it will only give me the default world state and tells me it's because of my family settings. I'm on the 360, does any one have any idea what I need to do to get the ball rolling?

I'm having the same issue. Any suggestions? Pretty frustrated at the moment, after I spent so much time in the Keep making my decisions.

Their FAQ state:
I can't import my world state due to "Family Settings" (Xbox only). How do I fix this?
Please check your privacy setting and make sure that the "Share outside of Xbox Live" setting is turned on. Then go through the new game start again and you should be able to import your world state from the Keep.
However, I have no idea which privacy setting this is. If anyone knows that, I'd be real happy for the clue!!

Custom privacy settings kill your ability to load it. Go to xbox home, RB to the settings area, click Privacy, then set it to "adult" and it'll be fixed. Still don't know what particular setting kills it, so if anyone finds that out, please let me know because I'd be glad to go back to my custom privacy settings.

Thank you very much for this! It wasn't the 'Family settings' it was the 'Privacy setting' I had to go to. Damn confusing to say it's one thing when it's another! Thank you very much again PADDGapocalypse for your help.

I think the content sharing setting is the one that kills it (the one for facebook and what-not).

And other than the absurdly shiny lips and hair, I don't have a problem yet with the graphics. Just grateful I don't have to buy a new console yet.
