Not real happy with how they designed this game...Doesn't feel like Dragon Age...feels like a Console Game...I just so happen to be playing on my PC...the controls are clunky...clicking on stuff is not intuitive...the inventory system bites...oh and potions..come on...feels like power ups now...combat is very Consolish...yes we have the pause and tell our companions what to do...but you have to baby sit who ever you have selected...the game has lost it's tacticle feel that made me love Dragon Age Orgins...

I should of suspected this was going to happen...as Dragon Age 2 was moving this direction...but at least Dragon Age 2 still retained some of the magic of Dragin Age Orgin...yes I've only played an hour of Dragon Age Inquistion...but so far it's not looking so good...

I think what I hate most...is how you interact with the enviroment...yes jumping is very nice...but picking up stuff...clicking on rifts...and attacking critters suck...I miss clicking on places and going there...I miss sticking to my target...I hate having to be pointing directly at what ever I want to enter act with to be able to click on it...I would rather click on it and have my character spin to face it...I'm just not a console type of guy...If I wanted to play a console...I would buy a console and play it there..

Yes yes yes.... movement feels clunky. Difficult to stay in range of enemies in melee if they're moving since I can't move while i'm attacking... i have to stop attacking, move to follow them, start attacking again.

And WHY do we have to move next to an item and THEN click to loot. If I can see it from across the room, I should be able to click to automatically run over and loot it.

Oh...and why can't I change weapons when combat starts?  Am I missing something?

It was the same thing in DA2. I think because Bioware in general doesn't like hybrids :P

Plus they also wanted emphasis on pre-battle planning, I guess.

Yeah this is really jarring.  Coming from playing the first two games on PC.  Having a hard time adjusting.  Also it seems like you cant que up actions for companions unless you are in the tactical camera.  I dont know it really seems like the game was designed for a controller.  Unfortunately when i tried to switch to an xbox 360 gamepad the game wont register any button presses so im stuck at the main menu and cant even play the game or get back to the menu to switch to keyboard and mouse again.  Sheesh.

I agree, very hard to play on PC. I can't even see the cursor during combat. It is so small.

It feels like a console game because it IS a console game. Everything about it was designed for a controller. Plug one in and see how perfectly it all suddenly seems to mesh. I should have just gotten it for PS4 instead of PC, since clearly that's what it was made for and tested on. The lack of an auto attack isn't so glaring when you're always holding the x or some other omnipresent controller button that exists right where your thumb rests to begin with. There's no click-to move or move-to-interact because those require a mouse, which consoles don't have or understand, so shockingly enough it isn't in this console port PC game.

You mean like the LMB? OK, it's not your thumb, but still...... I'm pretty sure I've always got a digit on that.

Why no one has mentioned poor optimization? The game runs awfully on good PCs.

As I said before: please, Bioware, optimise the PC version, make it more like Origins, you will make a lot of PC fans happy!

Some people mentioned the game runs smoothly on mediocre PCs- puzzling :P

The main issue for me is stattering which happens from time to time. I managed to optimize game settings so I get high fps, but the game would just statter for half a second without any reason. Happens randomly. Can run other heavy games (like Witcher 2, Crysis 3) without any issues.

Could be the DRM or as Bioware likes to call it anti-tampering software.

Apparently, it generate an unreasonable high number of disc read/writes.

I wonder. Do the players with problems have low free space on ther drives?

This has happened before. IIRC NWN2 ran badly on the high-end machines of its day.

I've actually found optimization to NOT be an issue. Dialogue and cutscenes are like watching people dance under a strobe light, but when out and about I haven't noticed any chugs, frame drops, hitches, freezes, audio issues (also present in cutscenes/conversations). This likely isn't an optimization issue, but something related to the dialogue system. Do console versions have the same issue, or is this another product of a bad/hasty/whatever-people-find-less-offensive-even-though-it's-clearly-true port?

In basically every other PC game ever, that button is busy being the camera, messing with the UI, or shooting something in the face. Not being held constantly just to perform a function that both previous installments baked in. DA (and every other real-time RPG ever) combat lends itself well to an auto attack, which is probably why it always existed.

I didn't say you ought to like it. I was just pointing out that it's strange to say that it works better on consoles because you always have a digit on the attack button when a PC player always has a digit on the attack button too. And how is this different from the LMB being the "shooting something in the face" button?

Went ahead and requested refund(before 24 hour guarantee was up) and uninstalled...might rebuy it when it's on the discount shelf...and they hopefully have the clunky PC interface worked out...I was really looking forward to this game...

Its hard for me to imagine this game is made by Bioware...but I guess the EA/Orgin says it all... :pinched:
