So, how long before there is an official fix to the suggestions posted above?

These are just suggestions in a suggestion thread, nothing official about it.

Doubleplus underline mouse movement.  R is attack, why must left mouse be attack as well?  I don't even entirely mind having to hold it down (stupid but whatever) but the inability to move by holding down both mouse buttons is driving me nuts.

I also stood at the gate for five minutes trying to figure out why I wasn't doing anything even though it was highlighted, and said "Open" and I was clicking on it.  Turns out I was a half step too far away to reach it apparently.  I couldn't move that extra half step to open the gate cause ... ?

I haven't really messed with tactical camera, yet (I'm having enough trouble trying not to attack rocks everytime I want to move), but those are my biggest complaints, right now.

Ability to toggle or re-bind or do something to enable mouse movement via both mouse buttons ala DA:O and DA2.  And moving to where I need to be to perform the requested action without me having to do every tiny little thing myself.

I very much doubt bioware will patch these features in. Bug fixes is all we can hope for.

I hope for some mods too. I just do not know if this engine - forstbite is easily modable.

I remember DAO had some lovely gameplay modes like "Advanced Tactics" - http://www.nexusmods...nage/mods/181/?

Cheers.

My issues:

-Annoying that you can't move at different speeds with a mouse/keyboard. I like to walk both for tactical and immersive reasons.

-Friendly fire is not really supported in a meaningful way. No spell descriptions to notify you which spells does friendly fire damage, no AI control to prevent mages from nuking their own party (so you have to constantly baby sit your mage to prevent him from killing everyone, and if you have two mages, you're screwed).

-Tactical camera is so cumbersome to use that it makes battles harder, not easier.

-No auto-attack/auto-move on clicking is frustrating to say the least.

-Almost no AI behaviour contrlol makes the AI do stuff you can't prevent. What was wrong with how it was implemented in DA2? I want my mage to run away from melee, but alas...

I love this game, but I hate having to fight with the controls and AI companions to achieve what I want.

Thanks.

- Lack of auto-attack

- Being forced to move to a target and then click the frigging mouse

- In fact why the hell we can't make our character move to a place by clinking it?

- The whole PC UI feels too console-oriented. It is clunky

- Tactical camera isn't really helpful

- Ai is stooopid

Oh, and also in some regions we can get english voiceover but no english subtitles. What. The. Hell?

I have never really had any complaints of previous DA games.  But I have to agree...

Lack of auto attack

No click to move

Poor UI

Very very bad.  I actually am gonna wait until there are fixes and not continue on with the game.  Having to hold down the mouse button practically the entire time in a fight is stupidly annoying.

Everything feels slow and clunky.  I'm running a really high end PC so it's not graphical, it's just a clunky game.  I am really, really sad.  I was so excited for this game but it isn't fun right now.  At least not for me.

I forgot to mention (and I can't figure out how to edit posts) that the UI and menus are cumbersome to navigate with a mouse as well. It's sort of like in Skyrim, how menu choices aren't properly highlighted by clicking on them. Try clicking around in the quest log, and expand and collapse the quest trees. Weird stuff is happening. Also, I often have to click stuff two times, especially in conversations. It's like the conversation tree loses focus, and you first have to click on it to give it focus, and then click again to activate the choice.

Another issue I have is the camera control. When I quickly move the camera 180 degrees or so, the camera suddenly looks either up or down, depending on how high or low the mouse is on screen. This is consistent, and I can reproduce the exact same thing over and over when doing it quickly. The camera looks straight up when I move the mouse completely horizontally. Maybe this is related to inverted Y-axis? I will try to change it to see if it helps (but I can't play without it on for long).

Mouse and Keyboard is terrible atm. I am truly shocked at how terrible this is

I want to move with mouse, this is in nearly every 3rd person RPG and I have no idea why it isn't in this one.

Having to hold mouse to attack, Can I unbind this at all? I'm not a fan but can live with having to hold R but having it stuck on mouse is just super annoying.

Having to right next to loot to pick it up is frustrating when all previous games you would walk up to it when clicked.

Really trying to enjoy the game but these controls are ruining it atm.

Anyone had any luck for short term fixes? If I could just remove attack from click it would be so much better!

Don't worry! I'm sure no matter how bad the controls are they can be gotten used to. Plus if nothing works out there's always the game pad :) A couple of serious bugs do exist tho but don't fret, it's bound to happen and will probably get fixed on a day 1 patch :)

Biggest problems so far with M+KB for me is:

  • Cannot move while pressing both mouse buttons. Good lord.
  • I haven't been able to toggle walk/run. Not really a big thing.
  • Targeting can be horrendous, especially with no auto-attack.
  • Tactical camera zoomed out is not enough. It's just not enough and is absolutely horrible in small, closed environments like caves. Someone mentioned being able to zoom out through the roof and that is absolutely a good solution to this. Increase the zoom range, especially for outdoors and add in a through-the-roof feature for indoors. To be honest, I don't know how feasible it is to add something like that to a game that's already finished.

Binding mouse buttons manually seems to be highly in-demand atm and I believe it is plausible to get patched, so I'm sure you can unbind attack on left click.

I'm just hoping Bioware listens and work on such issues ASAP to perfect the game :)

Just a little addition: I think I'll get used to the controls in time, but it's just so ... different. And clunky.

Thanks, I see it now.

Also, great portrait. Link to big version and possibly more of the same?

Has anyone poked around in the config files?  I only had time for a quick look before I had to head to work.  There was some stuff about autorun and mouse bindings in there.

Well the good thing is that I have played games with awful controls before and have gotten used to them.

Thanks. Biggest version I have (and that I know of) is 146x146:

Only other one I can think of that goes in somewhat of the same direction is this one:

I think it's best if all complaints/suggestions are gathered up in one organized thread.

Great initiative, here's hoping the developers respond to the thread with regards to what if any of the requirements players ask for.

I haven't had time yet and won't be able to really check until late evening. It's definitely worth looking. Maybe somebody can even post a quick overview of anything that's been found in the config that addresses some of the issues listed here.

You can use space to auto loot. Should make this rebindable.

I'd probably be able to get used to most of these in time, but willing to throw my opinion into the ring...

Listing my major roadblocks here, although some of the other feedback (walk/run toggle) I'm nodding along to as well. I hadn't made the connection to the PC controls feeling like those of a console port, but I think it's a fair call out.

General Mechanics

  • Don't mind not being able to click to move for general movement (since I don't use it for the majority of games that I play), but not being able to click to move-to when you want to interact with an object is a pain. Even if it required a closer proximity to the object than before (i.e. no more clicking to go through a door a mile away), it would be worlds better. Right now it feels like you need to be standing on top of something to interact. Speaking of...

  • The proximity currently required to interact with an object seems overly restrictive, particularly during battle. I have to get so close to the rift to get up in its business that I can't see anything else.

tl;dr: Interacting with objects should feel like a natural part of moving through the environment. It doesn't have to be effortless, but most of the time it should only require a low level of attention and/or precision to accomplish.

Combat Mechanics

  • Would love more precise control of camera zoom in combat -- applies to both tactical and character POV. It feels like I'm always too close, even at maximum zoom, to keep track of what's going on. It wouldn't be so bad, but...

  • Lack of auto-attack / auto-follow target makes it feel like I need to micromanage combat, but that's difficult when I can't actually see all the combat that's going on without pausing.

tl;dr: I'd like to be able to actively manage the flow of combat as it happens without having to pause -- which means I either need to be able to see better or be able to rely on a certain level of character autonomy once I've issued initial commands, preferably both.

A general issue: When I'm set to full screen, it shouldn't be possible to click "outside" of the game and fall back out into Windows -- but that's exactly what's happening (multi-monitor system). It's as if the game is always in windowed mode, regardless of actual setting. Makes combat that much more fun when you keep falling out of the game in the middle of it.

Finally, echoing the request for more control over key bindings. I have a gaming mouse and could probably alleviate some of my frustration if I could customize the controls somewhat.

Aren't all key bindings rebindable? That seems kind of an odd and unlikely design choice
