Dragon Age Origins was designed for PC. Thats why the interface and controlls fit perfectly(and allow MODS!!)

1) Please fix the friggin' insult of a tac-cam by not restricting us to hover the cursor over the navmesh only. It makes no sense!

     - PLEASE fix the friggin' jumping back to a newly chosen character. Issuing individual orders to characters becomes a chore the way it is.

2) Auto-attack always available please.

3) NO. FRIGGIN'. CONSOLE. UI. INVENTORY. LISTS.   P L E A S E ! ! !

4) Yes, really, a walk-toggle would be nice!

Don't get me wrong, the game is gorgeous and mostly awesome, but it has obviously OBVIOUS flaws! :P

The tactical cameral absolutely cannot be constrained by walls and ceilings. Currently this constraint makes it basically unusable indoors.

Too sad i have to request a refund, the current pc control is just too bad, hope they can fix it in later patches :(

I use a PC and am having no problems with it.    You just need to be patient. It takes a bit of time to adapt but it does work.

Well, the issue isn't that people wanted a perfect interface. PC gamers, to some degree, have gotten used to the fact that consoles will have an impact on how the game is played. The Mass Effect games show that a compromise can be made, that leaves an enjoyable gameplay for playing on the computer.

No, the issue is that the gameplay is a utter abomination. It would be like releasing DA:O to the consoles with PC controls, where people would either have to move a mouse around with the analog stick OR buy a seperate mouse and keyboard because "The game was made for PC".

You can always get used to getting around these walls and ceilings. As I said before Tactical Camera simple works differntly than Origins so study and utilize it because it's a lot of fun when well learned. I personally cannot play without it now (playing on Hard).

Why is it when I scroll out with the mouse wheel, the game automatically switches me to tactical camera mode? Can I shut this behavior off?

Why is the camera in tactical camera mode seemingly only capable of giving me terrible points of view? Why can't I scroll out more?

Why can't I just pan the tactical camera with my mouse?

Who thought this was acceptable?

The tactical camera should probably be named something else, (maybe craptastical camera?). Its current name is misleading to say the least.

Could not agree more with everything that has already been said. Hopefully some resolution will come out soon given all the feedback. This video on youtube by a player sums it up quite nicely.

Can people please be more objective? Spending 1 minute making a really senseless rant about how this is a 'console' game, when performance and graphics wise it's superior to consoles - significantly is just pointless and annoys people who are actually interested in hearing what's the problem..

Also quick tip to everyone, you can move while holding to attack if you just .. move while holding your attack...

Carry on.

I don't think people are saying the game is a console game; they simply stating it PLAYS like one...

i was going to buy this game on day one....but i will not with these many issues being addressed here; specially

1-auto-combat...........i don't even care if you make it a toggle feature but IT HAS TO BE THERE.....this is not a "you vs the world" game

2-those people who say you issue an order in tac-mode just to be disregarded by your companions when you leave tac-move....i really really hope that was some troll joke! otherwise, if there is no fix, i will sit this one down.....

lastly, it makes feel people here are unto something when they scream "console"....no tool-tips?? really?

I was going to buy the game today, but after reading about all the issues the game currently has on PC, I've decided to wait and see if they'll patch the game or not.

I think it would've been best if they implemented controls similar to The Witcher 1, where by default you use your mouse to look around and if you press CTRL or whatever button, the mouse pointer appears so you can select your spells and whatnot.

I did not say it is a console game. I said that it plays like a console game. And about spending "one minute" - I am fully covered by what the majority is already stating, including your own posts.

I played most of Origins in Tactical mode - so... DA:I feels natural if I keep it in Tactical mode as well.

The game was made for console, not PC.

Hope they patch the controls soon.

Needed fixes:

1) When I take my finger off a movement key, STOP MOVING IMMEDIATELY. I don't need my character to skate/drift/skid to a stop. That's horrible.

2) The camera is a wreck. When you hold down RMB to start controlling the camera, it immediately JERKS the camera based on where your cursor is relative to your character. This is insanely disorienting. Don't move the camera until the user moves the mouse AFTER holding down RMB.

3) Allow key bindings to mouse buttons.

4) More ability bars. Go play an MMORPG if you don't know what I mean.

5) Auto attack option.

6) Some kind of stick lock on for melees so once you lock on your character automatically moves to stay in range.

7) Massive inventory overhaul. We need to be able to see more items, for example.

8) The whole search/looting system is just a disaster. Having to constantly spam search isn't epic. Having to constantly pan around looking for whatever pinged is lame. Give F a huge range - at least as large as the search, and allow an auto-search.

9) If you click on a lootable item, walk over and loot it. And give this huge range - like the range of your search area. And again, see above: F should auto loot anything in range.

They need to bring back clicking for movements.

Why can't I just click the loot from a distance and have the character walk towards it and loot?

Previous DA games have that and it's much easier to control your character that way. Let us click without going into tactical view.

I 100% agree with that.

I was quite used to the point-n-click movement system in the DA and DA2, straight forward and easy to manage. Loved that type of movement system, didnt have to spend lots of time on the frak'n keyboard.

The movement control system in Inquisition is absolutely atrocious, and so irritating that it is unplayable for me. If I had known the controls were that much of a departure from its predecessors, I wouldnt have purchased it.

For now, the game is just going to sit on my PC until some solution is found. I sincerely hope that Bioware will address this.

This has been an enormous letdown... :(

I believe this is a new issue. One for multi monitors setups.

1. I'm having all the same gripes as the above however in addition, when I hold the mouse button to pan around, if I move it to far, as if I was to do a 180, the mouse cursor goes off screen to one of the others on either side. It feels all cack handed. Very bizarre. The game is set to full screen on the centre monitor at 1920x1200.

2. I've not read all the post here but the other major issue for me is the delay when moving moving and turning my character around with keyboard button presses. We are only talking a 0.5s delay or something but certainly not instant. With a controller it feels fine. Mouse smoothing is set to off.

Any ideas or just wait?

I really wanted to play this with the keyboard controls and it's been my anticipated game since it was announced. I am really disappointed. I have GTAV on PS4 beside me so I may be playing that earlier than expected.

Get used to getting around? It's broken indoors.

Doesn't happen here- at all. In doors I just can't zoom out beyond the ceiling.

I agree.  I have managed to remap some keys so that wasd to pan and right mouse to rotate/zoom works ok.

I think 2 things that would make tac view great would be to allow players to zoom out further and to make it so that any object, whether a tree branch, ledge, wall etc.. that would currently either block your view or cause the "tac view zoom shuffle", becomes translucent instead.

Having those objects become translucent so you can see your characters through them is much better than having the view zoom in and out all over the place or have trees blocking the view.

I have no idea how much of a programming task that would be however.

After a few hours in-game here is my suggestions or improvements, I'll divide it into 3 modes - Action mode, Tactic mode, & Menu mode.

Action Mode aka. 3rd person cam

  • Mouse Free-Look

Make mouse movement control the camera view instead of mouse pointer.

The mouse pointer can be shown when paused using toggle key.

  • Disable Camera zooms

So it will not change to Tact-Cam which is redundant with Tact-Cam key bind and it is annoying since WASD used as different control

Changing camera distant is not needed if we can have mouse free-look.

  • Enable Auto-Attack
  • Add Walk/Run/Sprint movement speed

Walk/Run toggle key. Shift for Sprint (options for toggle/hold key like in BF4).

  • Disable Camera Turn key

Redundant with Mouse free-look.

Tactic Mode

  • Make jump key to pause/unpause

Tact-Cam is combat oriented & jumping gives no benefit in it since AI pathing is smart enough to send controlled char to a designated point.

  • Disable Auto-Center on selecting party member

Make it only auto-center after double-clicking on the picture or the char itself, or double-tapping the selection key.

  • Improve Cam control

Make X&Y axis only control camera panning not the camera height.

Use Wheel-Up & Wheel-Down for camera height and increase camera distant to see the Rift on higher location.

  • Tooltip
    • Detailed enemy info tooltip only shown related with controlled character or hovering the mouse pointer on target.
    • Add key bind to Show/Hide detail tooltip.
    • When detail tooltip is hidden, the party member icon is shown on top of the target along with action icon (attack/defend/skill).

Menu Mode

  • Inventory
    • Enable rotating char or item with holding Right Click.
    • Change A&D key to change category tab instead of rotating char or item.
  • Map
    • Rebind map left/right view to Move left/right key instead of Camera turn left/right key
  • Tooltip

Show tooltip  for related key bind when hovering the command button, similar to hovering the skill bar.

Additional

  • Search

Create ignore list for some ingredients so it doesn't have to ping when searching.

That's it for now, will add more if found something new.

The AI is really, really bad. Thry just autoattack even though they have their cds ready...

it would be great to be able to zoom out just a little more.

And auto attack? Or atleast make the characters run up to the enemy when you click on them. It's not cool to lose dps when playing on hard mode or higher!

The PC manual on EA's home page doesn't address PC controls on the keyboard and mouse.  It only talks about an XBOX controller...If I wanted those commands, I would own an XBOX.  It would be one thing if they included both but they ONLY addressed XBOX controllers which is crap.

and auto-attack...auto-attack...auto-attack.
