I know this is for PC, but the console version of the tac cam is F-d up too.
Especialy the cursor bit. First of all it sucks that you can't move the cursor far enough. Most of the time I have to move characters like few meters forward so I can drag the cursor all the way to the enemies and order them to attack.
Then we got the problem of terrain. The cursor in console version atleast can't "climb" over terrain that characters can't walk over. So if you have enemies with high elevation, you have to move the cursor around the proper path.
Aaaaand, we also have bugs like this, can't target the mob:

Tactical view on PC is horrible compared to the Xbox 360.
The PC lacks room for Pan Tilt and Zoom unlike the Xbox 360 and yes I own both games.
On the PC we need to be able to have full Pan Tilt and Zoom that fits on a PC screen. It is very difficult to maneuver through vegetation as the camera won't zoom out above the trees. If the Rift is on a rock above the battlefield, you cannot zoom out to even locate where the Rift is, much less enemies and set up tactical field.
Those options could be corrected by allowing keybinding on gaming mouse or keyboard that has not only Pan but the Tilt and Zoom features that seem to be negligible at this time.
If they would have this automated, like in Dragon Age Origins, that camera system worked better. It is also hard to zoom in on a character, because then the Tactical camera shuts back off and you have to start over again.

Agreed, tactical camera sucks, especially in caves. Gr8 overview of the combat scene..

Too sad i have to request a refund, the current pc control is just too bad, hope they can fix it in later patches
I got a refund on my digital purchase too. Was very disappointed.
For me it boils down to 2 main problems:
1. Bad tactical view
2. No auto-attack/move to target
Couldn't hang with that. Sad thing is, I doubt those things will be patched/fixed. Too complex.

I 100% agree with that.
I was quite used to the point-n-click movement system in the DA and DA2, straight forward and easy to manage. Loved that type of movement system, didnt have to spend lots of time on the frak'n keyboard.
The movement control system in Inquisition is absolutely atrocious, and so irritating that it is unplayable for me. If I had known the controls were that much of a departure from its predecessors, I wouldnt have purchased it.
For now, the game is just going to sit on my PC until some solution is found. I sincerely hope that Bioware will address this.
This has been an enormous letdown...
I had the same reaction.
I don't say this to denigrate you, but getting a refund might have been a better approach than shelving it.
EA has your money for a game you don't care to play. Where is the incentive for them to make it better for you? (I got a refund.)

I agree, just no way for me to do it....
I purchased from Amazon, and once it was opened (PC Software) it wasnt returnable. As far as I know, I cant return it to EA directly either.
Its why I'm trying to warn as many of my fellow DA fans as I can.

- Make highlight a toggle, instead of 'pinging'.
- Being able to move by holding both M1 and M2, while being able to bind M4 and M5.
- Clicking to move, when clicking an enemy you run to it and auto attack (even though it's present in tact. cam; I assume you want it outside as well)
- Click to loot and run to it, also being able to loot all with 'F'.
- Have tact. cam zoom through roofs (this is quite important, I'm shocked it's not there).
- Binding keys like Shift-Q , Shift W.
- Walk/run toggle!!
- Keeping M+KB enabled while using a gamepad.
- Increase zoom range. Both zooming out and how far you can reach with it.
- View tooltips outside skill tree menu.
These are all a must have If the game wants the tactical fell of DAo, the tactical is a joke and I dont bother with it , becouse as some one said they ignore there orders to quickly any way.
Oh and a storage chest would be nice. (or is there one and im just blind).
work on the AI would be nice haveing people trying to attack enemys throw a mountan will you are in the cave getting your but kicked is so 90's and O's ![]()

Bring back the DA:O controls period. I stopped playing the game for a while because of my combat experience in 1st boss which is not good.
You can't seem to click the target at the rift because the camera does not show the view above. You need to target another comapanion and try to re-roll the camera and click back on the main character to right click the rift which is a lot of hardwork.
Also, attacking on air is not good while left clicking on a target. Why take out whats good before. If it ain't broken don't fix it.
Awaiting the patch before playing the game again.
Currently playing PoE which is amazing.

Would love to choose the pathing of my characters while in Tactical mode. Getting frustrated by my party members just running through fire or taking excessive walkarounds. I'm playing Nightmare mode and those things are unforgiving in hard/boss encounters, and it really happens all the time.
Also, let us choose the facing with Tactical mode. No more my tank giving its back to the dragon just because I want to reposition her a few inches, please....

I'd just like to add my voice to the complaints about the whole combat system and the tactical system. Everything I wanted to say has already been said here.

Hey Bioware
Great Game
Just a bit of feedback from me regarding mouse/keyboard controls.
1. I should be able to use my mouse keys.
2. I would like to be able to walk in this game, it just needs a toggle for that.
3. I would like to be able to bind my keys like in the games before, meaning for Example (ALT+1) (Shift+1) etc. I do not use any numbers above 4 on my keyboard. FIngers just do not reach lol. So If i were to able to custom bind those buttons, it would safe me a lot of frustration ![]()
Thanks for listening. Amazing game so far ![]()

The new patch is great but the one thing that bugs me the most that still isn't fixed is the auto center when you switch characters after you move the camera position in tactical camera. I want to start a new campaign on a harder difficulty with friendly fire on but that will require great use of tactical camera. I would like to be able to find a vantage point to watch the battle and be able to give orders and then if I need to double click on a portrait to auto center. If you could please fix this problem as soon as possible it would be much appreciated. I thought it would be addressed in the recent patch as I read you guys were aware of the problem but as it was not I am asking here now.

I think the cursor needs to be bigger or a different color or something since it seems to just get lost at times.
