If he's unkillable, start the quest and get him to follow you. You now have an unkillable NPC that attacks mobs also.
He won't follow you everywhere, at least I never managed to make him, he has very specific path that he will follow.

I died to Druffy more times than I've died to dragons.
On the plus side, I hear Druffy is an excellent anti-tear engine of destruction. He'll wipe out the enemies for you, if you let him.
Same here bro. I see that the post is written before lots of time and you probably don't play DAI anymore, but just to share my thoughts. So i agree with the ppl who say its a quest. I don't know what that quest is since i still don't have it. Try do find everything in the hinderlands before moving forward. So i am level 8. It is still with the skull icon but when i block with cassandras shield it doesn't do her any damage and since it has only one attack it is easy to gues when he will attack. Her shield bash takes down 2 of his guard. I took him down to probably 5% of his health and just kep trying and trying and trying to kill him for like 5-10 mins after that. In the end he just charged away from lissandra and one hitted varic and sarris. I gave up and good that i checked for this bug. Otherwise i would've kept trying to kill him.
He is a quest in the Farm Lands. Check out the fences in the farm area there is a quest posted. You need to take him home, Once you pick up the quest go find him and he will follow you home. You have to protect him along the way.
I had this same problem when I first started the game. It was infuriating. Now it's still infuriating because the actual "quest" is bugged and I can't complete it in any of my games.
I played an evil inquisitor
once and killed Druffy through the mark of the rift focus ability. This ability bypassed the guard as well and Druffy disintegrated.
The loot dropped was
I can't believe so many people want to kill poor Druffy! (Although my elf majority team managed to kill the Golden Halla on the Exalted Plain!) Lord Woolsey isn't invulnerable either, so I wonder why they made Druffy so tough unless it was intended as a joke by the developers.

Druffy is tough and impossible to kill so you can have it help you fight the demons in the rift near the waterfall, since they are way above you in levels if you got to the farm early enough in the game.
