Female Inquisitors got the short end of the (ugly) stick...

Meh, have you looked at the love interests choice ? Female definitely have it better than males...

On the other hand...

hehe keep on nitpicking, youre exaggerating, because you felt slighted by what i said, i understand. None of these shots are from a straight angle, btw. Her face is very shiny, as is everybody elses, in that sense everybody looks puffy. Her cheeks dont portrude as much as you are suggesting, and had i made them flatter, something else would look off and her face would have been both flat, looked longer, hollow and very gaunt. Thats how proportions and ratios on a face work. Like i said, it was very skinny in the chargen, and i only see puffiness in one shot. I didnt say anything that wasnt true, you yourself "liked" jellos post, who suggested my char was too feminine, which means you are likely one of the people that have the mindset feminine women need to be masculinized. I like to play very feminine women, as i am one myself. At any rate, my response to both you and jello were unnecessarily bitchy, which i apologize for. There is no point in arguing about something this unimportant either way,

Not the cheeks, the area under her eyes. Sorry if that wasn't clear. The last one you posted is the best and that doesn't seem to have that issue, so you may be right about the lighting and shine.

I didn't feel slighted by what you said, but you clearly felt slighted by the other person's suggestions as if it was some personal assault against you and then launched into a preachy lecture about real women, blah, blah, blah.

Actually the part of the post I liked was the second part about Bioware trying to find a balance between Origins' "smaller human" elves and DA2's freakish elves.

yes im sorry about that, it wasnt phrased very nicely, but its still something ive noticed though, and even has research backing it up, in general we tend to not take people with feminine features as seriously, and there are women with those features irl too tho :). I agree im glad they are giving them a more balanced look and that we are given more control over whether we we want the whole nose thing and some of the other assorted feautures with the artstyle.

I think people overdo it with the jaw and chin being too thin and eyes big like in anime.

haha, i was actually talking to iron bull asking him questions about krem, and he told me how he has horns and i have pointy ears and big freaky elf eyes, so i shouldnt judge  Tbh i didnt want to pick that option because it was very dismissve of krems' identity, but i wanted to hear what he had to say. Does anyone else feel our inq has the option to ask some really stupid questions a lot of the time? Also, how does a dalish elf not know who mythal is? my elf asked Morrigan when we were in the forest and then inside the temple?  The dialogue in this game, while entertaining for the most part, really has quite of a few cringeworthy/stupid moments.

oh and i didnt feel slighted by what that person said, in general i seem to be very stingy when i respond, but im actually never angry or sad or anything like that. Ive realized that my responses seem far more emotionally laden than they are meant to be actually. This is my first time actively posting on a forum, ever. Its something i need to adjust, but its taking some time.

Which...is why I made the suggestion I did. In messing with the CC I made a few characters where I emphasized the features that most people think of as beautiful in women (large eyes, petite nose, delicate jaw) and I found I just couldn't play with them because they looked so out of place. Especially with makeup that emphasized the eyes even more. It was personal preference, of course. Lots of people like playing as bombshells. But in Inquisition I found myself toning it down a lot (no makeup, smaller eyes, strong jaw, stubborn chin) and vastly preferring the outcome. Again, personal preference.

This is exactly what I did, although I learned it in DAO with morphs.

I was exaggerating female features which are considered pretty, the eyes, the nose, the lips. And in the end all my characters looked like plastic aliens in comparison to party members. I began making the features more human - larger jaw, smaller eyes, etc., and voila they turned into real beauties.

I did make a mistake in Inquisition by giving my character too full lips, the CC look was okay but in-game every time I saw a cutscene and particular lightning the word 'botox' was the first thing that came to mind. I was too lazy to reroll because that was my 4th attempt. I'm attached to her too much but I would gladly change some features if we had Mirror of Transformation.

That said I like playing bombshells, but even bombshells are mostly naturally proportioned. Their eyes and lips aren't as big as they seem on the pictures, their cheeks aren't as defined. There is always a possibility to overexaggerate their features and create an unrealistic alien instead of a really pretty girl. Its certainly possible to create both in Inquisition's cc.

I think the warden looks good. She certainly has an abundance of make up which is OPs personal preference, but she uses a skin texture from a mod which has lots of moles and freckles. Its far from airbrushed.

I usually make the lips on the thin side in other character creators, but in my first attempt they animated so weirdly that I made them larger than I usually do. I suspect that fuller lips are easier for the game to animate, because pretty much all of the characters have full-ish lips.

And in fact, even though they looked kinda large in the CC, in-game they don't seem oddly proportioned (at least to me).

Well to be fair the OP has disappeared a long time ago, so it's actually become a thread about beautiful some of the inquisitors are.

She looks good. If you take suggestions - I'd widen her nose bridge a bit, it feels too thin. The lips certainly animate well.

I think the problem with cc is over or under-doing things. My character appears to have way too full lips and they animate really badly in some scenes. She is ok when she is upset, surprised or angry, but when she smiles most of the time her lips don't move much, its very weird. Another thing is the texture. The texture that you use definitely makes the lips smaller, on the other hand the texture that I use enlarges them. I tried the same face but with different textures and they felt different. I think striking the balance is the key to good animation here.

Anyway, here's mine. Don't mind the botox :D just tell me what you think

You should see Aishwarya rai in her interviews and movies, now thats a woman with large eyes and full lips, especially with makeup. actually if anything peoples facial features are even more pronounced irl. You get to see just how full their lips are and how large their eyes are, but thats just my experience. IAnyway, my char is an elf, their proportions are not natural by human standards, so i think we get a bit more leeway in adding a lil pizzazz here and there although i can see why elves can be very beautiful to humans as described in DA lore, because even in the cc the elven females all have much smaller skulls and larger eyes, associated with beauty in women, even without manipulation from the player. There isnt much that can be done about but im overall pleased with her ^^ She isnt perfect, her complexion gives her some discoloration, and i noticed the puffiness around her eyes after natureguy mentioned it^^ its actually part of the complexion and the eyeshape i picked, it isnt there or not quite as pronounced in some other complexions, but they have some other "flaws". Theyve been given a few pimples here and there and some discoloration to not be completely doll like.

Thanks. :) And yeah, I noticed the nose bridge thing too. That's one of the things I'd change if we're given a black emporium-style DLC. That and perhaps making the space between nose and mouth a bit bigger. Though I moved the mouth up because I really wanted to emphasize the chin, which worked out great (stubborn chins are the best). She actually turned out looking a lot like an old friend of mine.

And I love the expressions on your elf. She looks very thoughtful and serious. I can see what you mean about the lips, but I don't think they're too large, per se. I think it might be that they're a bit too pronounced. If you're able to edit later, then perhaps try bringing them in a bit. That's what I did for mine, and I think that's why they didn't end up looking too full.

Here's her side profile to better show what I mean.

Yeah. I really didn't mean to knock your character. I think you did a really great job on her face. :) I think this CC more than any other Bioware has created is tough to get the hang of at first.

And I do really like the lore surrounding the physical differences between elves and humans, and that Bull and others will make references to the fact. I wasn't wild with just how different the DA2 elves looked, but I do like that they retained a signature "look" that sets them apart in Inquisition. That's why I tried making a rather elfy-looking elf.

No one considered it an insult. :)

I think you are being too defensive of your character. If you think she is the best, she is the best and screw anyone that says otherwise. :) But you are posting on a public forum, so expect to receive feedback which will differ from your point of view. Doesn't mean its bad or people are trying to offend you, just that people have different opinions on what beauty is.

Personally i think you character is very pretty, she just suffers from alien-eye syndrome. I think she would be prettier if you reduced the eyes slightly to a more natural size but still left them big (not as small as on my character, bigger), then she would be gorgeous. And yes, people with seemingly large eyes have them actually smaller in real life. Makeup does wonders to people's perceptions. I saw some pictures online on how people were transformed with the help of professional makeup and the effect is quite striking. Then there's also lightning, turn of the head and other photo tricks aimed at enhancing one's appearance. And stars definitely know how to turn and look in such a way as to enhance their prettiest attributes. You are of course welcome to disagree with me. :)

Edit: re-read your post and saw that your RL experience was different to mine. Hell, we can all be right at the same time I guess. Opinions and experiences - the beauty of forums.:D

Yeah, they are way way too pronounced, I know :D. I was noticing it by the time I was 15 hours in the game, damn my love for Angelina Jolie, I was too lazy to reload. When my character smiles its a disaster, especially that creep smile when flirting with Cullen in Haven.

I'd raise the nose a bit on your girl as well, the space is a bit too small. The chin and mouth positions are great though. I'd say they are perfect.

I sometimes look in the mirror to see how proportions go, helps a bit with cc. Doesn't help though that I usually create a polar opposite of myself in game. :D

I disagree entirely. It's not really something I care too argue about as beauty is entirely in the eyes of the beholder.
