hello there, I released a mod for me2 today that adds some cheats (and includes source code and a guide on how to edit the Coalescent.ini file, which is the easiest way to cheat)

I made a special version just for you, which includes an extra command at F4 that wiill bring up the kasumi/zaeed squad screen, so you can see for yourselves

download it here (includes a readme): http://www.mediafire.com/?mthzjdmmim4

BUT BEWARE, DO NOT SAVE AFTER DOING THIS OR YOUR SAVEGAME MIGHT BE BORKED. as long as you don't save it's fine :)

btw, this is not the way I was modifying the game at first, this is a MUCH easier way I came up with after a lot of headaches and that's why I couldn't share the actual method earlier. my first method involved code injection in hardcoded offsets which might not even work with your version of the game

now I'm working at unpacking the game assets so I can fully mod it, ideally I'd want to be able to use a full featured editor. it might take me a bit because I haven't worked with an unreal engine game for a looong time so I barely remember

Is this screenshot real?

No.

It's a fake.

No, it's real, he posted a vid of the character select screen with that on it. He hacked the game, unlocking her image on the select screen.

That picture looks awesome so I hope it's real. Wooh Katsumi.

*snip*

I highly recommend people not downloading this.  I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of keylogger or any other malicious software in the file.

heh, it's not even a executable file

the important file is just an .ini, as I said above, I didn't share my earlier method because it was complex and did involve .exe files. this one is cake

think Kasumi with be the Mass Effect equivalent of a Jedi? the name is Japanese and it's been documented that George Lucas drew inspiration of the Jedi order from old Kurosawa samurai flicks... maybe this is a response to all those who want a meelee chara? could be cool...

Its going to be an Infiltrator because all the other classes have 2 squad mates but Infiltrator has only one.

Also Kasumi translated means misty/blurred so it could be an assassinish character

If you were able to do it through the .ini files why would you bother with the .exe method?  Or are you honestly obtuse enough to start messing around in the .exe before looking at the .ini files?

I've never heard nor seen any similar changes to a UE3 engine game before, especially in such short a time from release.  Nevermind the fact that both your video and screenshot are suspiciously fake and your explanations cryptic.

because it makes more sense to mess with the executable first, then I realized most of the stuff I wanted to do was handled by unrealscript and not by the PE (masseffect2.exe)... still I haven't figured a way to enable a full console through the unrealengine ini files, so it might not even be possible, yet with my method I could use an improvised console

I don't know about other UE3 games, I'm a pretty decent hacker if I dare say so myself, but the ini thing was extremely easy to do, and the only reason I'm the first one to do it is because no one else has really tried
now as for actually unpacking the UE files, editing them, etc. (full modding) it's not going to be so easy - but it's nothing impossible

sorry if my explanations seem cryptic, I'd rather not dumb them down because you never know who might be reading - so I prefer to be open about what I do in case it could be useful for someone out there

Kasumi is a volus armed with nunchucks and a jet pack.

The name sounds Japanese, so we'll likely get a Japanese character...so yes another human. I was hoping for a Geth Prime ally. Image IPB

First of all; No, no it isn't. I've tried. It just doesn't work with stock programs, and third-party programs that do this are illegal, are they not?

Second; Any .ini file is extremely easy to hack, even easier if it's UE3 because they all share the same code base. And you don't hack the engine files, you hack the games settings files, the "BIOinput" file I believe. 'cause I'm pretty sure f***ing with the engine ****s everything up.

Thirdly; That's a contradiction in terms, you can't be cryptic and open. Unless my English graduates certification thing doesn't mean anything at all.

Again, this is all speculation could anyone care to correct me?

She's probably a race that hasn't been revealed. OR. She's from Earth (hence the Japanese name).
