Hard to say. The other squadmates appear to be rendered character models, where this Kasumi appears to be concept art. On the other hand, if you look below, you'll see some raytracing of the character that appears to be identical.

When I saw the name Kasumi my first reaction was wtf? Does Bioware have Tomonobu Itagaki working there now? How does a DOA character fit into Mass Effect...lol

(Yes I'm aware this supposed "Kasumi" will not be the one from DOA.)

It's fake until a developer can prove it.

It's about how DLC works, see? Would you like me to explain that too:P? I have nothing but time until the mall across the street opens again so I can get my hands on my CE.

Well, DLC is called Downloaded for a reason, right? So why would the developers have the data on the disc already? Kasumi could very-well be a holdover from the first build of the game but was axed TO SAVE SPACE ON THE DISCS. Otherwise BioWare's shooting themselves in the foot by keeping that data on the disc, because any idiot who knows how could just hack the games code and unlock it himself, right?
So I don't think BioWare would do that, it's bad marketing. for PC users anyway... It'd be harder for xbox users though. Plus they had to axe a few things anyway to keep the game down to two discs as is, so they may release that content later as DLC, which is downloaded to the HDD and then used in-game via coding.

I may be over-simplfying here and I'm pretty sure there's someone on the forums here who can explain it better than me, but I'm trying. It might just be because I'm tired...

Again, open invitation to anyone smarter than me to try to explain this a little better.

There is a bit of info about Kasumi on the disc still, same as Zaeed, simply not all the files you need to unlock and use them. It's how we found out about Kasumi in the first place, before anything about her was officially mentioned.

I see what you mean now. Someone also stated that about the homosexual romance options, in an older post on the old forums, a while ago it was stated that the reason why the didn't add the extra romances was because of disk space, and a slue of other optional things. I get it now :o thanks! :P

What exactly is there then? Simply just names of the said characters with like a file name attach to it for sound or text?

All I've seen before is a file with her name on it alongside the rest of the recruitable characters. Considering a good deal of info about Zaeed is on the disc as well as at least that about her, I don't think it's so farfetched to believe they have a basic setup for her already on the disc. They've obviously been planning her inclusion for some time.

ok some new info, I've unpacked most of the unreal engine files and confirmed that zaeed (the veteran) and kasumi (the thief) are missing files in the retail dvd, including all their scripts, conversations, etc.

so I guess no more pics of kasumi, a shame :/ I'm sure she's supposed to be human, though

I don't think so.

I wrote the article, and took the original photo of the debug screen last August.

Jeah it`s really strange. There are characters, 100% planned and created way before released. There is proof of it and even after this is post all over the internet, no one is really interested.

ROFL I thought the exact same thing.  Then I thought how bad assed it would be to have her bouncing around snapping necks.  The I realized she would be OP.

Thus the Assassin's Creed looking wench in the screenie.

yeah human, check my pic (I hacked my game to get her)
she has assault rifle & sniper rifle, abilities: overload & AI hacking, but the DLC is not out yet so it might still change...

Sure ya did bud.

Even if you did hack it would not come up in 2d, that makes no ****ing sence, at all, stop ****ing lying, you need the dlc to get him or her, i think its a female since i heard the name on ilium and that they said she after speaking her name, but race not confirmed, thats pathetic, and even if that is her i would be very dissapointed in having ANOTHER human, and ANOTHER emo little ****
