'Push to Talk' and 'Voice Off' Options for Multiplayer

I still can't believe those options aren't there

Sounds silly but, I don't want people to listen to my TV when my family is watching in the background.

The other players have the option to mute me, but I too should be given the choice of wanting to be heard or not.

And say my friends and I are on Teamspeak/Skype and there's another player in lobby who we would not particularly feel comfortable listening to us babbling, or them us?! Of course they could mute us and we could turn off our mic, oh wait... we cant turn off our mic because we need it for Teamspeak in the first place :o

Big Fail, Pleaseeeeee Put That Option There!!!!!!

It's probably developed for console that's why...... Console players don't have enough button to use so they have to constantly have talk on.... I don't see anything changing for the better unfortunately. there is a lot of stuff missing only from a glance of the forums

I don't remember having that problem on Mass Effect 3, and I had it for both PC and PS3.

Maybe they just forgot about it. But how could they in 3 years of development?, Im disappointed

It doesn't make any sense, especially since ME3MP had that feature, so the step back is really astonishing to say the least.

I'm a long time Bioware hardcore fan, but this is simply ridiculous. I don't want to have my private Skype/Teamspeak conversations broadcasted to everyone in my party. How can developers not anticipate that problem?

And while we're on the subject, where is the text chat we were promised multiple times during the MP livestreams?

I really hope these are just day 1 f**k ups and that they'll be fixed stat. We're talking about basic features any multiplayer game should have. It's honestly embarassing.

I don't think it's too much, not at all. As things stand now, if you don't have a party made entirely of friends, but you have one or two friends you're talking to on TS, for example, you only have two choices.

1) Not talk to them so that you don't annoy everyone else in the party. That's just ridiculous and it seriously defeats the purpose of playing with your friends if you can't even joke around.

2) Talk to them and get muted by the rest of the party. Great, so when I need to talk to them to coordinate strategy, they won't hear me. But wait... I could write to them... Except I can't, because the text chat isn't here either.

And in any case, even if they don't mute you, it should still be my choice whether to broadcast private conversations, my dogs barking or the music I'm listening to. I really have no words.

100% Agreed.

I just hope they see this. I hope everyone else agrees with us

I totally agree with you MJHawke and apocalypse_owl. This is totally unacceptable and shouldn't be an issue in 2014.

Bioware, add this feature!

Ok so pretty much anyone I play with gets to hear my computer fan! At loud volume, so pretty much everytime I join a lobby I have to spend a few minutes appologizing to people who probably haven't a clue what the heck I'm saying! Really?!?!

I was hoping after DA2, I wouldn't have to complain about this game for ANY reason! So again REALLY?!

Pretty sure the Devs said in one of the streams that the PC would have push to talk and always on options (maybe i heard wrong?). So im curious as to where the option actually is............

They better fix this with a patch soon, its terrible.

Oh excellent, can't wait for push to talk. It's really an essential feature for any kind of voice chat.

So, friends and I have been playing the PC multiplayer quite a bit, and have found only 1 way to mute your own microphone in game.  We also use Razer Comms to talk, so without this the echo and reverb was unbearable.

When you are in the multiplayer lobby, you have to click each individual player and on the bottom there is a dialogue box that says 'mute'.  After you have successfully muted every other person in the lobby, besides yourself, the game will automatically shut off your  own mic.  It is a huge pain because basically every game you have to mute every new person that joins, and it won't work if someone leaves and someone else joins mid battle.  Meanwhile, no one else knows you have them muted, and they can just talk and talk and talk with no one to hear them.

I know this isn't a 'fix', but so far has been a decent workaround until the geniuses over there at BioWare figure out not everything is made for stupid consoles and 9 year olds.

Best of luck, and see ya out there!

That is fantastic! I will be giving MP a go here in a little bit. Hopefully it isn't too annoying.

I just was in the "Patch Notes 2" that:

[PC] Improved push-to-talk functionality when using keyboard and mouse

Would this mean that there is a  push-to-talk button now or that it actually is working with Origins function for this now?
