Oh video game forums, may your excitable overenthusiasm forever give way to jaded senses of dissapointment and betrayl upon a game's release. ![]()
Seriously though, all the problems being talked about have been fairly obvious in gameplay videos for ages. A lot of you even got to pre-play the game for six hours. Why are the game's problems suddenly a new thing, or did lots of people just go on blackout and not get the heads up?
'The hype is real!' to 'This game is bad.' in less than 24 hours.

Keep this in perspective, OP. All the people with no reason to complain aren't here at the moment since they're busy playing. Also, the effect of control problems is very subjective, I never trust reviews on that, and I still don't know how it will affect my (still at work, grrrr.).

I had to force myself to stop so I could go to bed at an already insane hour for me (3:30 am lol). Normally I get up an hour and a half from now but that might not be happening today.
My initial impressions are through the roof but I won't really know how I feel until I've played through the entire campaign at least once.

The game hasn't even been out 24 hours yet has it? I can only imagine that opinions have changed from "THE HYPE IS REAL!" to "This game is bad" is because since the time the game came out (less than 24 hours ago) those making the claims have actually had a chance to play it.

My hype died completely about month ago, what I read now in these threads is what I already noticed before, in streams and videos.
It is now on level with other average games out there, going to play it when it hits the bargain bin.
90% percent of gameplay elements I was excited about in DA games are gone or redone the oppsoite way. All there is left is the story, and the story alone is not all that importnat for me in computer games.
Mechanics > Gameplay > Story. First one is borked beyond any repair. Second one seems not any better now that I am reaeding about it. Story alone isn't worth to me more than 10$ and that is the price I am going to wait for.

Meh, I don't care about a few bugs. I know the team will be doing their best to fix them as soon as possible and hell, they deserve a break so I wouldn't even care if they took their time on them. The game is still epic in my opinion. *shrugs* And when it comes to gameplay, it takes time to get used to knew things. People should be giving it a decent amount of time to get a hold on combat etc instead of jumping on here to complain after not even 24 hours of playing.

Because none of the reviewers, for some strange reason, never mentioned any of this, and gave the game top marks. That does tend to generate some hype.
That's because the copies the reviewers got were from a newer print, and had the bugs fixed. A lot of consumers would have gotten older copies of the game, printed to meet deadline.

Well, I did say 'in less than 24 hours' so some people just enjoy being negative/nitpicky I suppose.

Well the PC controls are indeed awkward, managable but awkward, and the start of the game doesn't give much of depth of gameplay.
What breaks it is the no English text option, like, seriously ? who tough it would be a brilliant idea to not have English text with English voiceover ?

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I will have to turn the music down completely to be sure I don't miss what is being said.

And some of us have to wait until 10 AM for Gamestop to open >.>
.... with the hope that a Day 1 Patch is out so I can roll a Qunari Male that is referred to as such, OR I might be making my first Inquisitor a human female

I was not correcting your title, merely pointing out that if the claims that "the hype is real!" were made around 24 hours ago they must not have had much of a chance to play the game before making them.

The fact is, we gamers are some of the worst kinds of customers out there. Nobody has any idea how games are made, and yet we expect everything to be perfect right away, or GIVE ME MAH MONEY BACK.
And, working in retail just makes me more patient. So to me, just because a game is buggy at launch does not make it bad. People need to chill out. Day 1 Patch will be out today. TODAY is day 1. Not yesterday, not two days ago. Today. Chill out.

That's not so bad for listening, but picking dialogue options in Russian ? dear lord...mercifully the icons guide me, but the first war table mission was as a brick wall.

I have no clue how cars are made and I expect them to work perfectly the day I buy them. This argument is ... no comment.

A lot of the people being really noisy about the game being the worst ever are the same people who have been calling it the worst ever for the past month.
Like, it definitely has some issues and quirks (I've had quite a bit of stuttering in cutscenes, for example), but I got used to the former and played pretty much 12 hours straight and am mad that I'll have to devote a couple of hours to school tomorrow before I can play again. I think a lot of people are in the same boat, and it's kinda what even reviewers who gave it excellent scores said- it's not technically flawless by a longshot, but once you get into it you don't notice it anymore.
Many reviewers agree that DAI has a weak story. Ouch!
Or some reviewers think DAI has an average story. Twelve of one...

Here's the thing. If a car doesn't work properly, it can get you killed.
If a game doesn't work properly, you wait for a patch, but it doesn't harm you. At all.
False Equivalency.
A game is 100 percent luxury item. People need cars to work, to get from point A to B. A game is something that is not guaranteed to be flawless from day 1. It's impossible. Impossible. Every game in the history of games has had something wrong with it when it came out. And it used to be, you had to deal with the bugs. It used to be, there were no patches, no fixes, and you had to live with the bugs. Gamers are spoiled, and it's self entitled to expect everything to be flawless or money back.

A car has to keep you safe or else you end up dead. A game has to entertain you. If you don't like it, then move on. (I don't mean you, I mean this in general.)I have no clue how cars are made and I expect them to work perfectly the day I buy them. This argument is ... no comment.
I play my games for Characters > Story > Gameplay > Graphics. I like tomato soup. Just because someone has other priorities and thus does not like the game does not mean that tomato soup is the devil in disguise. This game does not suck , you simply dived in looking for/expecting something else .

Its not so bad. Controls take some getting used to since for the PS4 R2 is the awesome button instead of X, and a few random things like all the characters going stiff while dialogue suddenly stops working. Could be worse though as I haven't encountered anything as mind numbingly annoying as the ME3 crash fest that occurred every time I tried to go to the docking bay refugee camp.
My worst problem with the game is that every time I create a character I keep finding reasons as to why another setup would be better, which causes me to exit out and restart the game. Been playing for 5 hours now and I've seen freaking Andraste's ghostly ass more times then I'd like to admit.

Weren't review copies sent out around a month ago? And with day one patches shouldn't the gamers themselves have the most up to date versions?
- Yes - reviewers would have gotten to first skim off the top of the fixed printing to ensure they didn't get these bugs. If the patch isn't fixing it, my bet is EA accidently put out the original, broken version of the game in the patch. The only other explaination is that out of the hundreds of reviewers out there, not one noticed the voice/race issue or decided to comment on it. I know the common idea is the games media industry is corrupt, but not even EA's THAT rich. lolI was not correcting your title, merely pointing out that if the claims that "the hype is real!" were made around 24 hours ago they must not have had much of a chance to play the game before making them.
- Nah, it was made before the game's release. People buy into hype and their anticipation too much, and then just build them up for a let down when it turns out the game couldn't possibly be everything they ever hoped for. It's something gamers REALLY need to stop. My 'hype' for the game was muted when I saw more and more gameplay videos with clear issues, personally.
