They made the game for the consoles and then ported over to then PC, which is why some of us are force to use a controller for the PC.

I'm editing Yesterday's post... into a Beatle's theme.

"Navigation sucks.  DA2 was perfect.
Now I bump into someone, and have to move around them?  What a PIA!
Slows down the game unnecessarily and annoys me to no end."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But today it ain't bothering me half as much!  Hmm.

To quote McCartney:

'I've got to admit it's getting better.
A little better all the time!"

AND the Walrus:

"It can't get no worse!"

The song.
It's totally Fab.

Ok.. after the Hinterlands the game doesn't feel like a huge grind. But man, the Hinterlands - reminds of the Barrens in Warcraft; non-stop farming. It's my least favorite zone. So far, I love the Mire.

I'm in the Hinterlands.  I'm having fun... I have to admit, it took me a day and a half to get through CC. I couldn't create a 'quisitor I loved.

Forgive me Internet complainers! I'm having fun playing DA:I.

Yeah!

Mass Effect 1 was the only ME that i liked, I loved its combat system and I loved fooling around in mako. I can't understand why people hate mako, and why would you say ME1 combat is bad.

JK. I can and I do. Maybe because I can grasp the concept of pepole having different tastes *pointing at your 5th sentence*

ME1 is my favourite game of the series. It's story was the best written, really loved ME1 vibrant atmosphere and optimism. Sovereign and Saren were the best villains in the series.
Exploration with Mako were also great until you stepped away from story mission into a hundredth copy paste location. Bioware should've developed and expanded exploration in ME, not just cut it out.
ME1 combat was last true RPG system in the series, where your stats were mostly responsible for your combat prowess but it drifted towards shooters in sequels.

Oh, and the achievement sound.

God I hate that thing.

You're playing along, doing something not too exciting, like checking on your weapons and armor, and then all of a sudden BBBBBBBBRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGGGG!!!   I alt tabbed out to see WTF was wrong with my computer the first time.

I wish they hadn't used the Hinterlands as the 'just out of the prolouge' level myself. It's too big too fast.

Of course, not all ME fans agree with this.

But it's missing the most important aspect of the Barrens, Barrens chat!

"Barrens chat is like a stupidity centrifuge, distilling the unexpurgated banal thoughts of a thousand morons into a hardened impenetrable lump of smacktardery, spilling endlessly across the bottom of your screen."

I agree with it.

ME1 had the best story and the best combat and exploration. And no planet scanning!

But ME2 had the best companion development.

ME3 improved upon ME2's combat (I still prefered ME1's combat even though there was a lot of room for improvement in ME1's combat), but also made a couple of really bad decisions such as giving one shot kill abilities to some of the enemies. That was ****. ME3 also had the worst story in the series. It was an unfitting end for a series that started out so well.

The Hinterlands is both a blessing and a terrible, terrible curse for my completionist wanderlusting side. I'm still wandering these damn wilds just looking for anything in particular. There's all kinds of random crap littered about. It's like the game is taunting me. It doesn't want me to finish.

Agreed. I for one am having a blast. Yes there are bugs, but whining and constructive criticism are galaxies apart in terms of efficacy. I'm convinced the only thing people love more than a good video game is complaining.

The only thing I'm really concerned about at the moment is the annoying bug some people have gone on regarding the encounter with

Spoiler
where the Inquisitor's voice will change. Judging by how long it's probably going to take me to get there, the devs may release a patch before I even get that far, though I'm hoping that I'm just exempt.

I am surprised by the responses towards large spaces ? Have none of you played Skyrim ? If you did, ever explored Blackreach ?

Personally I do not have an issue with large game spaces.

I don't see how anyone could say it is too small.

I could easily say someone saying a game has both too little and too much to do. There could be too much grindy side quests to do and too little "this actually has something to do with the plot and would be something the leader of an organization of dozens if not hundreds of people would be doing."

Just as a "for instance."

@Fast Jimmy: I see your point. But having every bit of optional content beeing tied to the main plot/cause would make the game world seem small in my opinion. There should be "small" and "mundane" problems to go along the bigger ones to show the range of troubles a thedassian might face.

But again, I know what you´re saying.

ME1 has best combat? You kidding, right? ME2 combat is miles better

Alhough I agree, ME1 has the best main story.

Overal Id rate ME2>ME1>ME3 and I really enjoyed ME3

I don't see what the problem is with having an enemy with a one-shot kill ability. Easy enough to avoid if you're competent.

As for ranking the games, I'll play. I rank ME2 and ME3 as about tied, with ME1 slightly below both. ME1 loses points for clunky combat, an awful inventory system, and poor integration of exploration elements with the plot. (Note that I'm no fan of either loot or exploration in themselves, so to some extent I'm opposed to the ME1 design intent rather than just the specific implementation.)

I don't think it is a matter of having side content tie in directly to the main plot. In fact, it sounds like that's exactly what DA:I is doing - every side quest is about helping the Inquisition gain power and influence.

The problem is that if the player spends the first 100 minutes in a very directed and controlled story, then spends around 500 minutes wandering around, doing fetch quests and being divorced from the story, it is quite likely that players will lose track of the bigger picture and not be pulled by the narrative.

This is something you see often in open world games (SP and MMO), but it is especially risky when story is one of the key elements in your games, like Bioware has. The main story could be the most amazing ever, but if people get mired in the minutia within the first ten hours and drop your game, your story won't mean squat.

Yeah, this was one of my prerelease concerns. Not an issue for a TES game where getting bogged down in the minutia is kind of the point, but I'm not sure it's a great fit for Bio.

Why are people talking about ME now?! haha

I am waiting to review this game until I am done and have maybe gone through it a second time to give it a fair review. It infuriates me how awful gamers on metacritic are when it comes to reviews. They play the game for 5 hours, don't even finish it, and then review it.  I understand how frustrating it must be for the PC and all it's problems. But giving it a 0/100 dumbfounds me. Noobs.

Personally, I don't think it gets to the DA we know and love till anywhere from 11-16 hours (after you attack the breech). But honestly - everything before attacking the heart of the breech will probably make me lower the game to an 8/10 (if everything else is perfect) because the grinding and exploring in the Hinterlands took WAAYYY too long. I respect Bioware for what they were trying to accomplish. It was great wandering around, exploring, and getting to know the people of Thedas. But after 5-8 hours it gets old - and you just want to get to the MAIN story, and see the characters that I have learned to love. If there is ever a patch it should be to give more power points for missions so players can get more influence quickly to get to the mage or templar plot, and then for those who want to complete EVERYTHING can do so.

Other than that I would say I am a little more than halfway through and I am fully enjoying it now. I love seeing players from the last game, and I actually feel like the story is going somewhere. It's just a shame that I feel like I wasted my time for the first half a day I played. haha
