Man, if this is how you all are reacting to one big area, I can only imagine what happens when we see Witcher 3...

I trust CD Projekt more than the current Bioware and they specifically said Witcher 3 will be fleshed out and proper.

Besides heard somewhere DAI was supposed to be co-op or something maybe assets frome that made it to hinterlands.

I don't believe Inquisition has anything to do with a co-op mode originally. It was built on a multiplayer prototype that began before Dragon Age II was even finished, but that is really insignificant at this point.

As for CD Projekt Red...I have a feeling the same issues are going to happen all over again. If folks are honestly complaining about the quest lines and the size of the maps, when Witcher 3 will suffer the same fate because of the changes made to it.

And what the hell does fleshed out and proper even mean? Thats way too vague.

I just contained my hype near the end of production for the game,

and I'm far more pleased with it than I would have been if I rode the hype train all the way to its stop.

I have no problems with big maps and kill x monster of type y IF the fighting system is interesting. If witcher 3 is a combination of the first two. (3rd person fighting system with monsters with real weaknesses and stuff) i think i will love it. Sadly in DA:I you just keep your attack button pressed with a rare use of a special skill like in any MMO but without the depth in character customization or Skill trees(... that every MMORPG has). Also it has too many activate camp-, collect flower- and flag-quests.

Witcher 3

Dangerous nights and monsters you will only see at night + npcs with a day night circle is creating more atmosphere than DA:I has as a whole.

Also the storys of the last witchers had been more adult and entertaining to me than the last bioware games.

BUT I'am also really sceptical about Witcher 3 we will see. (there is just too much potential to fu.. this up)

That is basically what i do for the last years with every game and my expectations had been really low after DA2... but I'am still not impressed. I'am not hating the game but i also don't love it.

With less loveless quests, a more interesting fighting system and better controls I would have ratet this a 8-9, but as it is now it is only a 6 for me (if you like to think in ratings).

Meh, people will praise it as the second coming for doing stuff DAI did that was complained about. Because reasons. :)

But seriously, I'm loving DAI. Hinterlands are great. And I'm sure I'll love TW3 as well (because I understand it's possible to enjoy two RPGs, instead of mentally setting them up as competitors). :)

So far only some things with the controllers, but after some re map, i already get used to it, some minor bugs.

But every passing hour the game gets better, i like it very much. I guess its a matter of opinion and what you like in games.

Because none of the reviewers, for some strange reason, never mentioned any of this, and gave the game top marks. That does tend to generate some hype.

Then you obviously don't consult the right review sites.

I, for one, am loving it so far. A few hours in. Been enjoying it since day 1.

I have encountered 2 minor bugs, but no big deal.

ME1 has best combat? You kidding, right? ME2 combat is miles better

Alhough I agree, ME1 has the best main story.

Overal Id rate ME2>ME1>ME3 and I really enjoyed ME3

Depends what you like. ME2 was just a dumped down shooter, with dialogue attached to it. ME1 was their try to combine shooter elements with a RPG. It wasn't optimal i agree but they basically stripped ME in ME2 of nearly all RPG gameplay elements instead of improving them. ME3 was a improvement compared to ME2 but still too much of a shooter for me. (I'am just sated with all those last gen. shooters had a ps3 at the end of its generation and it was just standing around aside from the sporadical use for a sportsgame there was nothing aside from shooters released for it)

Well the Inquisitor's job is the main quest. In witcher the main quest is his personal story and side quests are his job. Look at witcher 2 the monster hunting is more fun than just go there and Kill 'X'. Red says they are expanding on it more to give more detailed monster hunting affected by weather day/night cycle etc.

Besides they are a bit more willing to put in the extra effort than Bioware imo.Look at Chapter II in Witcher 2 seperate areas for Iorveth and Roche Bioware would never do that in new games.

Edit: This is argument mainly for the grindy fell of DA:I, the story overall has always felt better for The Witcher series so not worried about that.

Maybe, Bioware and EA also have that negative thing going among people for being too focused on numbers, restrictive DRM etc.

CD Projekt and GOG scored some points cause of their stand on piracy and DRM.

Welcome to the bsn where complaining is the number one past time.  So far I am enjoying the game very much.  Still too early for any overall verdict on the game but definitely better than DA 2.  I will have to wait until I beat the game at least twice before I can make an overall verdict.   I can say this though it is ambitious as hell.

We arent speaking about RPG mechanics, we are speaking about shooter mechanics and feel which in ME2 was huge improvement

This is the only game in recent memory, every gaming corporation seems to have an opinion on it. There are news articles about it everyday from gaming places, I never heard of. I don't think this game is bad by any means. In fact compared to DA2, It's longer, the graphics are better, the maps and combat is improved. If people don't like this, what will they like.

I am having trouble with the combat, to be honest. Can barely tell who is doing what to who. Too many colours, flashes, and effects.

Other then pc U.I needing some polish and a few other minor problems with some bugs at key points, I am happy with the gsme and have been taking my time with it.

But its way better then DA 2, and I have been surpised by the game and the size of the world. Its nice not to have tiny maps for once and all the side quests really make you feel like your building up a power base and so on

But the issues some have with the size of the maps, sort of reminds me while games have gotten smaller, like exploring myself.

I'm about 45 hours in and I LOVE IT!! The way the have handled all my past decisions is very pleasing to me. Familiar faces showing up..love it! Even how they have made my Warden's Legacy feel like a thing of legend is quite satisfying for me. Sure, there are a few speed bumps that I hope will be patched up soon, but overall. I'm happy.

Now, my dream would be DLC with my mage Warden, mage Hawke, and mage Inquisitor.

HEAVEN!

25 hours in, and my hype has been totally satisfied so far. Obviously it will depend on how the game continues and concludes, but this is well on it's way to becoming my favorite game ever.

@Fast Jimmy: I see your point. But having every bit of optional content beeing tied to the main plot/cause would make the game world seem small in my opinion. There should be "small" and "mundane" problems to go along the bigger ones to show the range of troubles a thedassian might face.

But again, I know what you´re saying.

I think the production team explained that every Region needed a reason to go there, that having space to run around in wasn't enough of itself.

I agree with that, I've been playing AC Rogue this week which is packed with Regional locations completely unrelated to anything.

I'm so looking forward to my midnight unlock (and I did enjoy 6 hours before) the hype is still real for me.

Only about 20 hours in but I can say with absolute certainty that I am loving the living crap out of it. It's buggy as hell, and yes there are some things that I dislike (inventory management I'm looking at you, you filthy bastard), but overall it's immersive and a lot fun. Also, Rricky-T and Cass totally deserve a spin-off. They are freaking amazing.

The fact is, we gamers are some of the worst kinds of customers out there. Nobody has any idea how games are made, and yet we expect everything to be perfect right away, or GIVE ME MAH MONEY BACK.

And, working in retail just makes me more patient. So to me, just because a game is buggy at launch does not make it bad. People need to chill out. Day 1 Patch will be out today. TODAY is day 1. Not yesterday, not two days ago. Today. Chill out.

This mentality has always confused me. Not the people you speak of, but yours. If you buy a car and it won't start, are you going to just sit back and wait patiently for the dealership to blow some PR smoke up your butt, or are you going to expect them to fix/replace your GD car or return the money you spent on a non-functioning product? "They're working on it" is a BS excuse that only fosters this kind of mediocrity in the future. People like this are why Steam has all this "early access" crap going on where the reviews of a product someone paid money for "don't count" because the game "isn't done yet." If you're taking my money, you're asking for my opinion. End of discussion.

I paid for a product. I expect to be given what I paid for. That is far from unreasonable. Especially considering how literally none of the reviewers said anything about all the stuttering/hitching in cutscenes, the PC control scheme fiasco, how terrible the tac view is, the crashing, freezing, etc. As much as everyone bashes MetaCritic and its user reviews, at least you can trust that the user scores weren't paid to say that.

A game is not a car, that's your problem. That is a false equivalency for an argument.

Start of discussion, off on a tangent about Early access as you raised it.

Early access is not a finished game. If you are buying it as a finished game, news flash, it's not the game's fault it's yours.

When you buy any game, you buy it on the content that is there or you take a risk. Don't take the risk, unless you trust the developers to the point of having a good purchase history, or just like helping find and fix bugs, or contributing ideas.

Buy games on their content, look at a few reviews on youtube etc. Reviewing an early access alpha or event a beta game the same as a full game is nuts. If someone labels their product incorrectly, then of course they deserve flak, otherwise no. Doing this i've never been disappointed in an Early access product, as I always knew what i was getting at the time. A year later I might go back to them and see what was added, if nothing was, then I still got what I thought I would for my money.

-edit

Some further helpful info. Thankfully my collection of early access titles is doing quite well in maturing and stuff I bought for very little money, because I look for a couple of factors. How often are updated released and how well do the devs communicate with the community.

If these two seem favorable, that's even more reason for me to take an interest.
