Actually it's not even just during combat, I can't take control of anyone.  All I can do is control the inquisitor?

 

I'm not sure if I hit some random keybind, I can't find anything that would do this but regardless:

 

The game starts with f1 f2 f3 f4 etc being the hotkey to take control of these characters.  I've not changed anything in the keybinds section, and for some reason, I can't take control of ANY of my other party members, only the inquisitor.

 

I've tried pressing the function keys, even just simple left clicking their portraits doesn't work.  It's gonna be hard to beat this game on anything but easy if I can't control anyone but my inquisitor. 

 

Any one know anything about this?  What gives?

 

Edit:  To solve the problem I simply had to load a previous save.  I decided to leave this thread up in case anyone ran into the same issue.  After messing with keybinds and options for half an hour, this was the only way I've figured out to resolve this.

 

Save often folks! Hopefully this is an isolated and rare issue.

 

P.S.  How awesome is this game though

If you're talking about the very beginning, you can't. Only after it's explained can you switch characters. If it still doesn't work then, I have no clue.

I've encountered exactly the same problem.
Fairly annoying, and only restart of the game helps.
It happened to me 2nd time since I started few days ago (in a rather crappy moment when my inquisitor fell in battle when fighting demons to close a rift, then couldn't select him once finally everything was cleared out so.. wasted effort)

I've had it happen recently too.  I'd try to switch to a rogue for a lock, or a mage for veilfire and it wouldn't let me.  Save, exit to the main menu, and reload.  Should fix it.  As to why, I have no idea.

Entire bits of the UI will stop working randomly.  Sometimes it will fix itself it I start clicking dozens of times on a portrait/tab/etc., other times I have to relog.

 

Really annoying bug.

I have had this happen once, randomly so I am not sure what the trigger was.  I had to exit game and reload.

Happened twice in first 10 hours, nit in the 60 since. Exit to menu, load last save. Not a big deal usually. PS4

Maybe their approval is so low they won't let you control them. I wouldn't follow your directions either if I hated you!
