Is this game worth getting?

There are so many exciting features I've heard about.

  1. Being able to make strategic decisions to gather allies and the possibility of an ending where the Daemons kill everyone in Thedas to punish you for making wrong choices.

  2. Large cast of characters both diplomats and party members who you get to know very well.

  3. Emphasis on exploration with lots of wide non linear hub areas.

  4. Lots of in depth crafting options.

  5. Challenging combat that takes the emphasis away from healing and towards dps, crowd control, buffing and debuffing.

  6. Tons of collectables and challenges. Including a dragon horse...

  7. An overhaul on abilities and levelling.

  8. Mass Effect 3 style multiplayer.

  9. Non human playable races are back with playable Qunari making their debut.

On the other hand I've heard about...

  1. A fair number of features being reduced or flat out removed.

  2. Reduced dialogue options

I was wondering, is this game worth getting.

Scores such as 6/10 to 8/10 make this game sound more appealing than Dragon Age 2.

Furthermore I enjoyed both Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2.

Are there any compelling arguments for me absolutely loathing Inquisition?

So please give me your thoughts. I don't mind really long posts.

However if you state that you like or dislike the game I would like to know why.

Is the game unstable and full of glitches?

Is the game unbalanced with some abilities and enemies being overpowered whilst others underpowered?

What exactly about the game do you want patched?

Don't get it right now.

The game is apparently terrible if you use keyboard and mouse, there are texture bugs, player gender bugs, the Denuvo shenanigans, GPU manufacturers have not released an updated driver for the game, there is no SLI support currently, etc.

Wait for a few patches, then buy it.

What...? In my eyes they delivered what they promised. So far I've experienced no bugs, get 60fps on ultra with a 780ti and a i7 4770k processor.

Game is balanced, and HARD. Play on normal, unless you want a good challenge. You can't play hard without using the tactical camera.

The dialog to me is good. They may have removed the 8 choices you were able to choose from, but each dialog option actually changes the story in some way. In one scene, I told everyone that "I do not think I am the chosen one". This was out of 6 choices. It felt like that meant nothing until two hours later, one of the main characters talks to me about why I chose that answer, and with just that one option, you decide if you believe in the maker or not. I love the dialog options, this game is worth getting

I have thoroughly enjoyed the game. No ctd, no performance bugs. The controls for pc are a little wonky, but I don't notice it anymore. People are way to whiney about things.

0/10 Cannot play on ultra with my 1Gb graphics card. I saw this on a review, I have lost faith in humanity.

Seriously you can't ask us, it's something you'll have to try for yourself, I cant tell you what you'll think of the game. I would rate it 9/10 an amazing game, but that's my opinion.

0/10 and 10/10 are two opposites that I have a problem with.

0/10. Really? Completely devoid of merit?

10/10. Really? Completely devoid of criticism?

What...? In my eyes they delivered what they promised.

What they promised:

"PC is basically our lead platform because we all develop on the PC," So we develop on that first and foremost and then we keep the other platforms up and running to make sure they don't fall behind."

"We're not going to give a different experience to Gen 3 players."

http://www.videogamer.com/pc/dragon_age_3_inquisition/news/pc_confirmed_as_lead_platform_for_dragon_age_inquisition.html

As for what they delivered, well, we've all seen what they delivered.

It has a lot of potential, but it's currently hampered by some bad interface issues and some frustrating gameplay decisions (no out of combat healing so you end up fighting the same instantly respawned mobs over and over trying to get anywhere). Without the frustrations, it would be a lot more fun for me.

The controls and combat are awful. It's like they tried to make dragon age into mass effect and then tried to make that into world of warcraft, then realized they had only made it for consoles and tried to push it on to PC somehow. Gameplay-wise it makes Dragon Age 2 look like the tactical equivalent of a RTS.

Don't forget no in combat healing either. Healing is limited to limited-use potions. There are no healing spells period. Just some kind of battle res that seems pretty worthless as all you have to do to BR someone is click on their corpse and not get hit while doing so.

Honestly the thing about them developing it for PC first is obviously a bold faced lie and you can see it in almost every aspect of the game.

Any other thoughts on the matter?

My suggestion is to hold off. That's not to say don't buy it, but I'd wait a bit. There are numerous issues with the game, which Bioware claims to be working on, but only time will tell what they deliver. It seems there are issues across the board, from laggy/unresponsive gameplay, to bugs where choices literally switch mid game (be it gender, class, or other details from your world state), to unintuitive PC controls and save corruption.

I'm sure there are some people who are thoroughly enjoying the game, but the fact you stopped here to ask before throwing money down means you'd probably rather not have to "make due" and instead have something that works as expected. I've had people tell me they are playing multiplayer until they fix single player due to the bugs, and provide about the only solution they can muster for poor controls as "try using a gamepad?" Buying the game now only means if you aren't satisfied, you are going to feel let down. Waiting until they fix the issues means not only you may get it at a better price, but you'll also have a more polished experience.

It looks alright but it doesn't seem like a "must play" title to me. Some things look very good but there are also things I've seen that don't thrill me much. It can wait till later when techincal issues are ironed out, the price has dropped, and maybe a DLC or two are out to spice things up a bit.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I am not playing it myself. I'm going by what I've learned here and elsewhere and seen in gameplay videos. Take it for what it's worth.

It's not worth getting until they fix the issues everyone has been discussing here.  There's many posts that show most of us are disappointed by the same things.

This not the stategy-RPG that DA:O was, nor the arcade-RPG that DA2 was. This is a tactics-RPG, bordering on a turn-based tactics game. Rather than making quick strategic decisions with occassional pauses to direct team-mates as in DA;O, or just running around hacking and slashing as in DA:2, in this game, at least on higher difficulties, you spend most of your time in combat paused, navigating the extremely annoying 'tactics mode', plotting out your characters next moves. You're never really obliged to take personal control of any character in combat, and it's in-fact typically better that you don't, your characters able to get where they're going faster and work more effectively if you just give them orders and let them go about performing them. Essentially the 'action' element of the games has been utterly gutted, so it now looks and plays much like World of Warcraft so far as the UI and abilities are concerned, and handles more like the sort of turn-based tactics game you'd play for 5 minutes on your phone before forgetting about. Extremely lacklustre, extremely dissapointing.... I've not gotten very far yet (because the play-style is so hugely disinteresting to me), but from what I've seen I absolutely do not recommend it.

It really depends on what platform you are on. The new consoles, PS4 in particular, don't seem to have many issues. PC, however, is having many issues. The last gen consoles have poor graphics and some other technical issues.

Read a lot of posts about the PC related problems here:

http://forum.bioware...concerns/page-1

I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition, but was not allowed to play yet (EU needs to learn "humility", USA #1)... That's 3 days penitence or so.

I think BioWare deserves our support (*), but the game has problems, and if it's playable for you or not in it's current state, that's very subjective.

*I still remember the story of Revan and had many amazing moments playing their games in the past. So maybe a farewell gift it's okay, if they really abandoned the PC users. We will see that soon. They can still fix this game, if EA allows it (and would be a huge mistake not to).

PS4 runs fine with no major bugs (only small audio drop out so far after 12+ hours).  My short tentative review is this: DAI = DA2 combat + DAO storytelling + Skyrim map design and questing.  I expect 100+ hours of fun. Totally worth US$60.

iv been having fun with it, it has crashed a few times but hey still less than fallout NV or Skyrim at launch. Storys good, pc controls are kinda wonky but not unplayable and the world is huge filled with tons of side quests.

I've only encountered a few bugs. One game breaking (but exiting and launching again fixed that)

Other than I'm having a lot of fun, and am spending way too much time on it. The dialogue is great, no idea about this removed features rubbish
