Validity of Denuvo DRM Reading and Writing so much it kills SSD's ?

So the rumor mill has been turning a wheel or two, and saying the Denuvo DRM, which decrypts and writes data to memory before encrypting it again, up to 30Gb worth of data per hour, is enough to basically shorten the lifespan of a SSD significantly because of the ludicrous amount of Read and Writes.

Now my way of thinking is nobody could be so stupid as to have an oversight so large, And 30Gb an hour on an HDD would absolutely kill performance in the process, and that this is not true, but this rumor is going to explode soon, and it should until we get an official word on it.

This isn't the first time DRM has messed with people's hardware.  I've even personally had Starforce completely destroy a disc and a disc drive. These claims are serious and need addressing, whether they're true or false, because DRM has ALWAYS been toxic to the people who actually buy and play their legit copies, and never not once hasn't been.  And I'm certainly not going to shell out the better half of a hundred dollars to do what a $2 hammer can do.

Bumping, as this is serious.  Here's 40 minutes of difference for Inquisition

33GB in 40 minutes. Wow.

I am imaging this is false as the game isn't running (per say) from your hard drive, and things like assets, exes, etc are load into RAM when needed.

Should I be worried? I was under the impression that SDDs had more of a shelf-life than HDDs...that's why I picked one up.

My old HDD just failed a few months ago...after like 6 years of loyal service

From the other Denuvo SSD thread:

That's BS.
I monitored my DA:I for about 2 hours of gameplay and this is what I got.

Yeah, I happen to visit a certain forum from time to time. One person there was like "I'm going to make a rant topic about Denuvo on their forum, let's see if they'll do anything"

Same thing with Lords of the Fallen, they were actually hoping that they'd remove the Anti-tempering so they could crack the game, lul.

Lol, this reasoning...

Why would you even want to play a game that's not worth the money? Do you like to play average games or something?

You must be stuffed. Nothing says nerdrage like a 400 page thread dedicated to a company and game you hate.

I'm guessing some pirates pirate because they do not want to drop money on games, but still want to play them.

Case in point the SP mode in Call of Duty or Battlefield. Maybe they do not care about MP, but like the SP. But 60 bucks for 8 hours is not really worth it, yes?

You idiots.  This thread isn't about removing the DRM, It's about getting an official statement on if the number of reads and writes are as high as people are saying it is because of the Anti-Tampering of the executable Denuvo is performing in the background constantly.  This even negatively affects performance in Lords of the Fallen.  It's highly intrusive for nothing.

People have already tested this and it's false. Didn't you see the link?

That would explain the stuttering some people are getting, if the hard drive is being hammered constantly by the DRM.

I came across this topic on reddit recently. My understanding from the discussion on that board, the more you play the games use denuvo, the more your ssd wears down.

I will keep reading until the game release in EU, will hold my pre-load for some time as well.

I checked the executable hash before and after an 1h session and the file was exactly the same. If encrypted pages were written back so often the file would definitely change. As far as I know this is plain and simple misinformation.

Feel free to check yourself, the program monitoring software (ProcessExplorer) is free along with a myriad of hash computation software.

#EDIT: Just thought of something else. The file is digitally signed by Bioware, it cannot be modified without invalidating the certificate.

Hmm, since im not able to afford to buy the game yet, i guess it turns out well, since all this rumors about the new Denuvo had me worried. Dont want to spend money on a software which may potentially destroy my newly brought hardware. Wasnt putting any trust on the developers statement, but this last two customer tests seems genuine. I hope by the time i im able to buy this game, more light to be shed on the subject, because as much as i want to play the game, I wont buy anything that can destroy my expensive and hard earned hardware.

Lol@people acting like this denuvo **** won't be cracked eventually, whether it's tommorow or a couple of months from now we never know, word is 2 russian hackers managed to crack it, so a crack should be available in a couple of days if that is true.

These rumors are probably not legit. But if they are I wouldn't be surprised, these are the guys behind securom after all. In fact I'm willing to bet this piece of crapware has a negative performance impact.

It should be reading off your SSD and writing on the memory. So just enjoy the game on your SSD. That's what it is for anyway.

If you're still worried, you can get a dedicated SSD just for your games and you won't have to worry about your primary SSD dying prematurely.
