You know that you can just in the keybinding menu and change the what key active pause right?
These people are hilarious.

I've remapped a lot of keys to how DAO was, so that's made the transition easier. The most aggravating part right now is how I can't right click to auto-walk to an item and loot it - you have to walk over, stop in a certain range, then right click.
I'm sure we'll get used to the controls after a while.

I already did this in DA:O. Just like I already switched from tactical view to 3rd person view when walking around. Sounds like DA:I's controls are gonna be a cakewalk for me.

It's not that hard to take a look at the controls for a game.
Both DAO and DA2 had toggle walk, which was fantastic and should be in every RPG, and most games in general.
DAI is one of the first RPGs I've ever come across without a walk button. Very dissapointed.

I never used walking in the first two games so doesn't bother me.

Or you could use a gamepad controller. They're on sale for $19.99 at your local retailer. ![]()

TAC view still has this feature, but you are going to hate using it.
Does it? Telling any of my characters to move has them move at the run pace.

I don't play RPGs, or any game, with a controller. Just because SOME people like gimping their experience(though ironically, we're the ones getting gimped in this case), doesn't mean we should be forced to use the same control method. Keyboard and Mouse are infinitely better for RPGs if the developers do it properly, which Bioware has not.

While I tend to agree in "some" cases, it's definitely not the case in this game. It's also not gimping the experience. In some games, it actually plays better with a gamepad. I have a gamepad for my PC too but I play this game on my PS4. Was a smart choice too I think.

PC UI is as most of us expected. Done hastily with no real thought of how this input works. Definitely not "by pc gamers at heart for pc gamers".

Isn't it somehow fun to remember that DA:O was a PC exclusive at the time, and now it's barely an afterthought ?

Seriously, will a controller really be required? I would have thought remapping the keys would be enough. Anyone who's played the game? (Stuck in Europe, so all I can do is wait for now.)

From all the complaining going on especially considering the OP made another thread in the Feedback forum trying to get Bioware to patch this in, I'd say a controller is pretty much required if you want this feature.
I play on PS4 so I don't have much more of a good answer.

"Fun" isn't the word I'd use. But yeah. It's a sign of times.

Well there goes any sympathy I might have had for you.
And now that I have some free time on my hands, I'm gonna WALK right over to Josie and see how she's doing.
Cuz I can do that.

Yea it's pretty amazing how some folks that have that "PC gamer entitlement" these days and how games shouldn't be made for consoles.
It's pretty sad actually. I have a pretty nice PC rig but I also play games on my PS4 and DA:I was made for the consoles I'm afraid. It's so optimized for it. It's pretty awesome. ![]()

So I'm preloading the game now, and I have to say I'm dissapointed I won't be able to strut my toon around like a badass when the game unlocks on Friday.

Every year I find fewer and fewer games with good KB/M controls and after spending the last few weeks on DAO and DA2 then coming to DAI is nothing short of a huge letdown. Fighting with the KB/M controls is going to sap alot of my enjoyment of the game very quickly I think, but to be honest I've only played for about 90mins so far.
In the time I've played I have found many things I am struggling with;
- Unable to click on loot from a distance and have the char run to its location and loot
- Holding down the R key or Left mouse button for auto attack...I mean really what the hell
- My char turns like its a V8 going 200Kmph, I'm a human I should be able to turn on a dime with a mouse while moving
- The mouse bug in dialog option, where the mouse stops working
- Unable to move holding down both mouse buttons, I haven't used WASD to move in years and its not feeling very natural.
- Inventory system and UI in general has been destroyed with the menu system put in its place.
I've been dying to get my hands on this game so will spend the time playing with key bindings tonight to see if I can fix some of the issues. However the big ones for me such as looting and auto attack are out of my control. I've already changed from a melee to archer cos melee annoyed me so much. Its just sad seeing my preferred control method being bastardized by more and more developers every year in favor of a control method I simply don't like.

Having 13 or so buttons opposed to over 100 is a gimp anyway you look at it. I'm agreeing with you that DA:I was unfortunately designed with a controller in mind, though I never said they shouldn't have made the game for consoles. They should have simply given both input methods fully functional, and equal experiences. Right now, K+M users are suffering greatly from decreases immersion and more random control schemes.
The solution I've come up for this so far(which isn't much of a solution) is...Play casual parts like when you're at your base with controller, save before you go out to do a mission then go to main menu(Extremely annoying how you have to go to main menu to switch input devices), change to keyboard+mouse, then load that save and do the combat with M+K since it's so much better that way. Sounds like a big pain in the ass, and it is but it's the best I've got so far.

The thing is, loot all and walk ARE IN THE GAME...why couldn't they just allow the buttons to be binded on KB!
