True that. I actually had the first game on PC and Xbox, and it is true; the console version was inferior. They had even simplified the puzzles during the Sacred Ashes quest on it. No clue why they did that.

It's cause we console users is dum with a capital UM.

I don't want to make a big argument about the quests, because it is not my biggest issue with the game. If they fixed the loot scanning, 60% of my pain goes away. If they fix the UI and controls, 95% of my pain goes away.

Uh, I am pretty sure that's not how percentage works.

The top worst thing I hear about DAI is no Autosave turn off button like in previous Bioware games. I know a friend who has succumb to the Cassandra Romance bug where it freezes during the autosave and no way to get out of it without corrupting the data completely.

Is that, only with Cassandra?

As far as I know its PS4 only and likely only a Playstation issue. Just I advise when you get close to there save and turn off game before prompting the action and try to put the save up on PSplus/ copy it else where so you don't lose everything if it bugs out.

...

For me personally I liked the looting scan in DA2. Not to mention it was far easier to see loot. Now the loot left behind from enemies in this game looks like they took a small dump before they died AKA sh!t their pants.

...

One of the reasons loot is easier to see in DA2 is because of the colour palettes. DA2 is a much darker game, colour-wise. It's easier to see a golden aura amongst the browns and reds than it is amongst the brighter colours in the Hinterlands.

I can't say I've seen loot as dead guy poop though. Probably for the best.

If people REALLY have so much issue with the PC controls, they can always just grab a USB controller and stick it in.

Wait a minute!

Are you the lead programmer for Inquisition?? That explains everything!

Personally I don't miss the sparkle at all, and have been looting things left and right with little issue. Only time it might be an inconvenience for me is if I stop to get elfroot while chasing a ram, because my priorities are jacked.

In fairness, the controller makes this a far different story from keyboard and mouse interfacing.

Not really. I'm on PC and I'm totally not getting what the issue with the loot scanning is supposed to be. Most of the time I don't even need to scan. Most of the stuff is pretty easy to see.

I suck at fighting in this game but that is not news. I spent 12 hours in Thedas yesterday, got my ass handed to me a few times but already I am more engaged with this world than I ever was with Skyrim. Loot scanning is annoying I played 9 hours till I tried the little hourglass icon I really hate having to get so close up on something to loot it, also I did not realize that I had to click on the dense green center of the fade rifts, randomly clicking in the green smoke did nothing and I thought my game was broke.  Sometimes as I play I find myself trying to do things with the controls that I do in skyrim and frustrating myself when my PC does not do what I want but these are all my issues and except for the loot thing I am adoring this game even on my low to medium PC.

I'm on PC and I'm fine with the controls. Initially I was annoyed with the loot scan but then I forgot all about it when I moved into the larger world. Things would auto highlight as I moved along and I just pick them up, loot scan is now only an occasional conscious thought. The one complain so far I have is tactical view but that could be because I have not tried the camera down angle or if there is one. I had trouble locating the hot spot for closing breeches.

Happened to me, I waited it out and it resumed. I think the issue was caused by the way the game installs. Most EA games are like that, where it installs as you play

Well I haven't played a game on a PC since the first Rainbow Six, so I'm fairly in the dark about how different the gameplay really is. But yeah, I don't really get what the hangup is over the looting. I find it rather intuitive, myself. Maybe I'm possessed.

Seems like they just copied it from The Witcher 2. That scanning the ground bit.

Played for 12 hours and the Tac camera really sucks for PC, got used to the hack and slash game play but compared to even DA 2 this is a major downgrade. AI tactics is bad seriously, I'm force to use Tac cam just to tell them to kill these enemies or drink potions when their health is close to 0.

The only problem I have with looting is I seem to press A just a little early and end up jumping, then loot when I land. I call it the Leap and Loot.

One time I found a chest, hit A too early and ended up jumping on top of the chest instead of looting. So I just imagined that I glared at my party members and yelled, "MINE!"

okay, so if i use a controller with the pc, will that eliminate the problem with the controls but the problem with loot scanning will still be there?

p.s. on a side note, egervari, are you the same person who wrote the ultimate powergaming party guide for icewind dale ii?

Yeah the interface is definitely going to need getting used to. All the interface is like DA2 and not DAO. Accessing journal, inventory and skills are a pain in the butt and unintuitive. Also the combat and tactical view feels a bit clunky.

Well the good news is that for closing the rift we just need to kill all the demons and the rift will lose life, after they are all dead you can interface with the rift and close it. Still doesn't solve the Tac camera when I'm force to use it in a boss fight.

I'm on PC, 6 hours into the game and so far I am really engaged into the game. The only thing I have found annoying is the lack of auto attack on normal combat. I know that it works on the tactical camera though, I just need to get used to it.

The areas are pretty big (at least the Hinterlands), but frankly I don't think that's a problem at all. It's something I have wanted since DA:O, and the fact that you can jump around makes the exploration much more satisfying. The loot scanner is fine by me, though it would be nice if it affected a larger area.

One issue that I have is that the game doesn't allow me to rebind keys to my extra mouse buttons (I have a Mamba, and in both DA:O and DAII I got used to having my select full party and hold position keys on my side buttons). Is this an issue with the game, or am I doing something wrong?

You can't rebind mouse buttons in the game so you didn't do something wrong.

I prefer that they allow us to zoom out more in the Tac camera.

Except almost all of DA:O was a huge fetch quest? Honestly, I'll never understand the prescription on those rose tinted glasses needed to see DA:O as the gold standard all rpgs should be compared to, but then ignore the fact that it has all the problems you all complain about.

because it's gameplay and story carried it like nothing since has.

Yup that watch tower and kill the wolves quest in th hinterlands is tied with the main story, otherwise most of the fetch quest seem to just increase your influence only with little to no ties to the main story.
