This argument has many holes and I'll tell you why:

1) PC controls are fully adjustable, customize it however you want. For example, I binded tac cam to my space bar, and inverted the swivel.

2) The areas are absolutely enormous but you can pretty quickly dart from one objective to the next if you remain focused and undistracted.

3) Loot scanning automatically highlights all the loot easily, and actually doesn't require multiple scans.... in fact the range in your surrounding area is quite far. Certainly no less button pushing than TAB in prior games.

4) People are quick to judge a game feature they haven't fully explored, because there is an auto-attack. Granted, it's contingent on being in tactical camera mode, but you can essentially adjust the camera to any height or field of view you want very quickly once you've played around with it a little bit and understand how it works. I've found this to be preferred since I can simply enter this mode for any fight and not have to worry about continuously pressing buttons to get my character to attack. I just flip on the attack command, and watch the battle play out if I really want.

--------------------

The only thing I won't fight you on is the last part because I don't know what "paper dolls" even means. But I agree the Inventory UI needs a little work; particularly changing weapons out and comparing stats.

Can we have autoattack back? plz?

Yea, from reading alot of the complaints involving combat and movement, I wonder if auto attack would solve alot of these problems on it's own.

Not having to waddle up the exact distance seems like such an amateurish, last-gen aspect that just doesn't fit in a triple A 2014 title.

If they added back auto attack it would almost be like DA 2 combat system, which is better than the current one although inferior to DA 1 top down view.

Well, if the tac cam is bad enough that people aren't using it, then regular cam play with auto attack would actually give those people the ability not to have to button mash while hoping teammates are doing the right things.

Again, I have yet to play, but been reading alot of ugly descriptions...

I'm not disappointed.... to a point. PC player here, don't like the PC UI, don't care for the loot system *boogles the mind* and I don't seem to see many subtitles unless there's a serious pause. However... the game seems to have a large upside. I'm not long into it, willing to see where it takes me up to a point. Any game has its quirks and the PC UI takes some getting used to.

To be fair, that loot scanning really is the main negative of the game. It's akin to planet scanning in Mass Effect 2, or the Mako sections of Mass Effect 1: almost universally hated.

The PC controls and the like can be fixed with patches, and the interface modded with mods, but that loot scanning mechanic can never be fixed, unless a mod or some sort of patch is released that makes it a toggle instead of a button you have to almost spam.

All the problems with the Mako in ME1 could have been fixed by:
1) Making flatter terrain or letting the Mako fly (which it has to do anyways to get back up to the ship)

2) Marking the locations on the map where interesting stuff was so you didn't have to drive over every single inch of terrain to scan everything

I'm force to set the difficulty to casual because the PC UI is that bad. Any higher than that and I would have uninstall the game.

I would have avoided using the TAC cam at all if only they added in auto attack and auto run with it off. But they only work within the TAC cam and so I'm force to use the it in the boss fights.

Like I said back in August...

Tactical Cam is a redundant feature on PC.  There is no reason to have it, since it does not have to be tied into pause like it does on console.  The camera should be exactly the same as regular cam (we were told it was, it looked that way in the demo Laidlaw played, but apparently its not), the point and click controls should be exactly the same (they aren't), the combat mechanics and targeting should be exactly the same.  It's not.

PC version should never have had "Tactical Cam" to begin with.  The fact that it's there is clearly a focal point for alot of the problems we are seeing.  And I'm willing to bet the reason it's there has everything to do with marketing.

Seems like they just copied it from The Witcher 2. That scanning the ground bit.

But you know that you don't have to do that except for a few quests, right? You can find everything else only by looking and walking towards it.

I wouldn't mind the loot scanner if it would only detect loot or hidden stuff. But when it pings for a goddamn elfroot on the other side of the area and I spend 20 minutes searching for that- now THATS annoying. The herbs and crafting materials are generally in plain sight- I want my loot scanner to detect LOOT. Not absolutely everything you can interact with.

I may keep playing too. I dunno. The looting issue is so pervasive and ongoing that this alone may make me stop.

The "open-world questing" is really quite bad. I don't think it's anything special. It is typical MMO type of quests. DA:O was just a master-piece. I think the developers lost their way in DA2, but when Skyrim was all the rage, they made this to evolve. All I ever wanted DA:O with some of the few improvements in DA2 that were actually good, along with a great story and characters, and NO REPEATED zones. That's all I wanted. I didn't want this.

This is entirely subjective, but you're presenting it as an objective fact.

I felt that DA:O was a heavily flawed game with wonderful characters and intriguing lore. The combat system was clunky and uninviting; I actually quit on three separate Wardens because I just got tired of trudging through combat specifically. Going through long hallways and killing enemies to advance was far less interesting than exploring a huge open world and engaging the enemies I want to, when I want to. Plus, the loot system in DA:O... ugh. That was one of the ugliest micromanaging setups I've ever forced myself to experience, just because the writing was that good.

But this is my opinion. You may think DA:O a masterpiece. I do not.

Helloooo! Taking a break from playing DA:I and popped over to the forums to praise it!  32 Hours played!

I'm playing the PC Deluxe version and I must say... I love it!!  The story is excellent (so far), and the huge environments are wonderful. <IIRC complainers said they wanted larger environments after DA2?>

The soundtrack is entirely too awesome. I'm playing on my laptop with my headset on. I can hear all the ambients as well as the instrumentals. Emotive and inspiring are words that come to mind. Bioware always has the best audio/music in their games.

Overall, I believe this game is FUN! But, I know it's easy to critique the game and point out flaws. However, I really hate to see people complaining and then see that they've not bought the game yet. Same issue over at Sims4 forums. A bunch of people picked apart the game upon release but they hadn't actually bought the game yet.

Personally, I don't want to read feedback from non-players. Buy the game... actually play it yourself. Then form your own opinion based on fact.
