Just noticed that PC Gamer has brought this issue up in an article, which is great news for us. The more attention we bring to this issue, the more likely Bioware will add a walk button in a patch, and sooner too.

For the sake of myself, and everyone who has posted, I'm gonna keep this thread alive and up top to make sure there is attention brought to it. Spread the word, send this thread to people who care. The more people that we get, the more likely we'll have a walk button/toggle.

The thing is, we should not have to beg Bioware for this. It is increasingly frustrating!

Count me in. A toggle for walking and an auto attac like in the previos games. Playing a close combat warrior really isn't funny - most of the time all I hit is emty space...

It shouldn't take long, there are some sequences where the character walks (btw can the character walk on gamepad?)

They just need to make the Sprint key a "Sprint/Walk" key and I'm happy

Yes, and also jog :P

To all those thinking about playing for a bit until this gets fixed: unless you can hook up a gamepad, DON'T do Wicked Eyes & Wicked Hearts main story quest. I started doing it (KB&M) and running through it like a madwoman was absolutely killing any immersion. Luckily, I've emulated a PS3 controller to work, but yeah; if you're into immersion you will regret doing that quest without a walk toggle >.<.

Great, looks like my first playthrough immersion is lost forever.

This was exactly my experience. Totally ruined that quest. There is also a certain thing you do at many points that really require you to WALK, not run like a headless chicken.

So yeah, thanks for ruining that for us, Bioware!

This is the single most negligent thing the devs did to the game (not having the walk toggle). No way this game was properly tested with KB&M.

Could you point us to instructions on how to do this? Would be really helpful for now.

I still think this is an oversight or bug. It is common that on M+K you cannot traverse at an intermediate speed, there are always just walk and run (like in Tomb Raider) and if you want smoother transitions you have to use a gamepad. But no walk at all is very uncommon.

How they expect us to walk near edges (necessary to find shards for instance)...dunno. Stupid.

There is a video at YT from Bioware, in the title something about "build by pc gamers for pc gamers". If you wanna laugh (or cry) go watch it.

You still have to use a PS3 controller (I've just emulated the buttons so dragon age recognises it as an xbox controller). I used this: http://emulation-gen..._Driver_Packagebecause MotioninJoy just wasn't working with DA.

I see. I thought there was a way to simulate a controller via keyboard.

DAI is also kinda old fashioned in the way to limit the player to either M+K or controller. Many games can use both at the same time. For instance, in games like Sleeping Dogs (good game) or Watch_Dogs (mediocre game) I use the XBone controller for driving and M+K for running & gunning.

And here I was excited that there could be a workaround to actually walk (I'm holding off the Wicked quest as long as I can but I doubt I can hold off by the time Bioware fixes it - IF they fix it)

If they don't, I don't see this game lasting past the second playthrough, which would be a shame considering the sheer amount of content that I want to explore and see in this game. This is simple accessibility, the most basic in fact.

Yeah, sadly it does get annoying having to go back out to the main menu just to switch back to KB&M. I absolutely cannot stand combat using the controller, so if I'm ever about to go into a 'hard' fight, it's a chore. Apologies to those who thought I meant something else ^^.

And just to illustrate how annoying this is to me, I should be playing this game. I'm still singing its praises while being frustrated at its faults, but I shouldn't be here - on this forum. I should be playing this game, but my level of immersion isn't where it should be.

This is vital Bioware

Well, it really is mind-boggling how a basic feature like this could be simply forgotten when making an RPG game of a PC series of RPG games. Still holding out until it gets patched in; I'm in no hurry to continue my playthrough, and I will either be able to play through this game with the immersion it needs (and a walk toggle) - or I won't play through it at all. There are more than enough other games for me to play. Of course, if they should not patch this in at all, this would most certainly be the last Bioware game for me. I've quite enough of being considered a second class gamer as PC gamer...

SIGNED! Always running is just stupid. Such a small and easily fixed issue, yet two weeks after its release and its still there.

There really is no reason not to make it a Walk->Jog->Run toggle mode function.  All 3 modes tied to a button that already exists.

You don't even need to know anything about programming to see this should be possible.

This an EXCELLENT idea. Shift-key would be ideal. If "always running" is switched on as a new option, single tap of SHIFT let's you jog, another single tap lets you walk. Single-tapping when walking toggles jogging. Holding down the key for two seconds lets you run again. When a fight starts, running should be switched on automatically and there is no need to remember the state before the fight imho.

Just an idea for your idea. :D

Yes, walk toggle and mouse movement like in the other games would be very welcome! I really dislike being forced to run all the time. It breaks immersion :-/

So are there any news about this? Why can't they just release a hotfix with this feature, something so simple shouldn't take more than an hour of a programmer's time to implement.

If they were going to take that approach, we would have had something in the first week.

They are clearly trying to include as many issues as possible in the first patch.

Totally agree, I found it odd in not finding any keybind to toggle walk during the prologue, even later on the game, it feel sooo wrong to run arround like an idiot in a palace while you should be acting as a diplomatic figure....

Consoles have a walk function...

More danming evidence does not exist.
