Well I guess it makes sense from a certain standpoint. It is easier to organize one single worldwide release of a patch for all plattforms. It's understandable imho. ;)

Agreed. Trying to navigate the character to face chests and ore outcrops and plants is a pain with the lurching movement the character currently has.

I gave up and switched to a controller. It took some time to get used to, but it's obvious the game - especially the actiony combat - is designed for it.

You have to time your blocks with the knight, or strafe with an archer, things that are much easier with buttons and the 360 movement analog sticks. Same goes with navigating some of the hilly environments, sometimes you have to run and jump like a platformer, which controllers are better suited for. The UI also takes up a much smaller part of the screen which is nice. Pausing and using the overhead camera is probably better with KB/M, but didn't have much issues with the controller when casting spells.

Still, despite being a controller game, there is still one place where KB/M is far superior for role playing. Because a controller has limited input keys, the action button and the jump button are the same. Therefore, if you aren't exactly next to a chest or an NPC you want to talk to, you'll end up jumping like a buffoon. It's really annoying having to walk up to someone, try and talk, and end up giving them a face full of crotch.

But all in all I'm glad I made the switch. Even a walk toggle still means you can't jog. As of now the controller can do all 3 (walk/jog/sprint) and we're still waiting for Bioware to give KB/M two.

Controller is an option, but I feel literally disabled playing with one. The slow camera movement and such. Plus I can find most buttons on my keyboard blind while being unable to do so on the damn 4 colored buttons on the XBone pad. That's how bad I am with a gamepad. No I never owned a console.

I don't have a controller and have no intention of buying one just to play ONE game. I can not compromise in this.

And neither should you have to.

Personally, I'm at a place now where, if Bioware don't remedy this situation in the very first patch, I will play the game like THEY want me to - with a controller. But it will also be the very last Bioware game I play.

For me it wouldn't be the last Bioware game I would play, but it would be the last I get hyped about and pre-order. I never expected Bioware to give PC fans such as us a middle finger by making the controls inferior on PC while feeding us all the BS marketing material. Bioware's the last AAA developer that I have been pre-ordering from already.

I feel pretty foolish having pre-ordered now. And for being a fanboy and believing every word Mike and his posse fed us.

It's a bloody shame because I LOVE the Dragon Age game series. Tainted by the lies of those in power.

No more. To hell with it all.

Aye I don't know what happened to Bioware, was it the ME3 ending that made them rather disconnected from their fans? I still remember in DA:O I had actually had a dev help me understand the toolkit and brought up any issues I had with the technical team. That was the level of fan interaction that I enjoyed and respected in Bioware despite such interaction normally being reserved to indie developers. They were very transparent. Now I feel I can't trust them, and that pains me as I've followed them since Baldurs Gate.

I looked for the walk button on the very first minutes of gameplay. I'm dumbfounded it seems no one pointed it out in the tests, or that it just wasn't taken seriously.

We have a huge thread in the news/announcement section where we are currently discussing/arguing what happened, as well as Bioware's silence in the matter.
