Hey guys, I've been a pretty vocal about getting a walk toggle and improving PC controls - which I still think they should be for those who need it. BUT  I ddin't want anymore so I bought a 360 controller, plugged it into my PC to try and oh hell how good it felt - the game feels amazing with a controller, and I wouldn't switch back even if they fixed every issue with the PC controls. The only thing is if you play on higher difficulty the tactical cam is still a bit clunky sometimes, but if you're like me, playing on normal, without using the tactical cam very often I really recommend you to just try it if you can. I completely changed my mind, and perhaps you will too. Game of the year easily for me, havent enjoyed myself this much in a long time. Just a tip for you, hope it enlightens somebody else too.

To everyone else, good luck, I hope everything get's patched soon.

I already have a 360 pc wireless controller and tbh I thought it was worse than K+M

Since I don't expect patch 3 to be out anytime soon, and having already exhausted all pre-Orlesian-ball quests with my Qunari... I've started a new character since I don't want to ruin my main.

By the time the patch hits I may have to restart my Qunari so that my immersion is full. Annoying though, because that was planned to be my completionist run. Oh well.

Not being able to walk is the only thing I don't like about the PC version. So ye please add a walk toggle :) that would be great

Oh well... Just uninstalled DA:I; no sense for me playing the game like this. I'll check back in half a year or so, and hope they'll manage to add the toggle by then.

Of all the things to put you off about the game, and all the aspects that are otherwise really well done, the thing that's pushing you over the edge to quit the game is toggling the walk/run?

Pretty much, yes. :)

I'm playing RPGs solely for their story and the immersion in that story, and I simply cannot feel immersed when my character is running around like an idiot. And I'm no console player, which means I totally lack the motoric skill to play games with a console controller, so using such a device to properly play this PC game isn't an option for me either.

I really love the Dragon Age game universe and its story, and I had great fun playing both, DA:O and DA:2. That's why I pre-ordered DA:I, too, in good faith that the awesome story will continue. I cannot enjoy the story though, when i can't immerse myself, and I cannot immerse myself if I can't have my character walk in the appropriate situations. So, I'll be waiting for Bioware to add this basic feature before I really start playing this game. Simple as that.

Well... everyone's got their quirks and peeves. Far be it from me to judge when I have a few of my own.

YES.

This is a very REAL problem for people playing with KB&M and looking for a truly immersive experience. I can totally understand if DAI is just another game to play for those type of gamers chain-playing like the devil is chasing them.

But for others, the Dragon Age world is one of the most important and most loved fantasy game worlds, so having immersion broken by the missing walk toggle (you may notice that not some, but ALL recent RPG games have this function present) is a pretty big deal.

I'm having to put off doing certain quests, exploring caves and dungeons is completely ruined by having to run around like a headless chicken, I am tired of the frustration of not being able to traverse tight environments without ping-pong'ing around the place, practically bouncing off every object I run into.

So yes, speaking only for myself here, my enjoyment of the game is reduced 50% by this negligent omission on Bioware's part. It IS IMPORTANT and we need it fixed.

If you don't care about this, then please do us all the favour of simply moving on. Questioning why we see this as something important and potentially game breaking does nothing but make people angry. So just drop it, please.

Someone saw that they launched a new update?

I stayed a few days without playing after seeing that the second update did not come with the option of walk. Yesterday I opened the Origin and there was the option to install a new update.
I thought it was the 2 but I had already downloaded it.
Am i going crazy or they made another update and still not add this freakin' option?

What you saw was probably the hotfix they released a day after patch 2 to address some graphics bugginess they introduced.

Walk toggle would be amazing! Imagine how much more immersive a quest like "Wicked eyes and Wicked Hearts" would be if you wern't running arround like a crazy person all the time

I've just arrived in Redcliffe and the desire to walk is stronger than before. So much detail on this town, I wanna walk through there just once at least. But no, of course I can't. Bummer. -.-

So sad... I don't even understand how you do achieve enduring playing without this functionality it is just impossible for me...

How can someone overlook a walk/run toggle? How is it possible to not implement it as quickly as possible in the first or second patch? After the requests of so many?

Almost every major RPG (at least in the recent years) I can think of has a walk/run toggle/hold key. And we use it and we use it often. And it does break immersion and it highly affects gameplay.

Not being able to completely unequip a weapon so it doesn't show on your character, would be another complaint which is also related to immersion.

I do not know if I should accuse the developers of laziness or just complete ignorance.

Well...if I'm fair and reasonable I have to admit that I do run for the most part of the game. These vast areas demand it. The game is just to good to postpone or give up. :(

Still, the immersion does suffer. In situations like arriving in Redcliffe or walking in a tavern it is outright rediculous. These short track sprints feel silly. But that just shows that noone at Bioware ever played the game like this. They lied to our faces.

Do what I'm doing; limping. Tapping W, takes abit of practice. Still immersion breaking (probably more so) but you can use this to slow down whenever banter fires or when exploring your surroundings to gain a sense of location.

The sad reality of playing a console port. It's been a week now since last patch, and no news. Guess we'll have to wait till next year.

I'm relieved to see so many people requesting a simple but essential feature like walking. It's unbelievable that they left it out even though all the previous Dragon Age and Mass Effect games had it. Did anyone at BW even play the game with a M&KB? How in the Maker's name could this happen...

At least my next playthrough will be more immersive, assuming they patch it in by then.

So, Redcliffe today. Don't worry, no spoilers. Just that the whole mission was the first longer indoor area and hell it felt terrible. Running through there can seriously mess with immersion. Just a warning.

I'm still puzzled what's behind Biowares failure to implement this. The way the mission plays out and how brilliant it is orchestrated one can see how much they care, how proud they possibly are about their game. Yet they risk it all goes to waste forcing people into swooping through the area, missing a ton of details - and not because you wouldn't want to. It's just HARD to navigate through tight spaces when you can't walk.

So...did they realize how disadvantegous the lack of "walking" would be or did they never wasted a thought about it? Did they ever play long enough into the game to notice or were all their QA and beta testers sitting in front of their computers, gamepad in hand?

Was this ignorance or a calculated decision?

Last I heard the devs had trouble (weird, seeing as they are working closely with DICE, the people who created the engine) implementing it.

It is pretty obvious that KB&M was an after-thought, something that possibly wasn't even planned until fans started to ask about it near the end of development.

I really want this game but I won't buy 'till theres a walk toggle, It would entierly ruin the immersion and atmosphere of the whole game for me, not using a controller, I'm a pc gamer, and that's that.

Give us a walk toggle Bioware, please, I can't be the only one that just can't play without one.
