Walk/Run is an RP feature mostly, and this is supposed to be a fantasy RPG. ![]()

+1
yes please.
That is not a ringing endorsement of it being in at all, let alone being in the next patch.
Executive Producer's who use words like 'hopefully' have more than likely checked out at that point.
Patching is only cost effective for so long...
Well, as much as I enjoy the game, and would most likely continue supporting Bioware...
If a walk/run toggle isn't in by patch 3 then it's the final nail in the coffin when it comes to pre-ordering from Bioware. I dodged a bullet with Beyond Earth, I really wanted it but held off preordering, and I'm glad I did. Same with Sims 4. I'll probably get around to those games when they are stable, on sale, and with enough expansions. Still haven't got them yet.
But why did I pre-order DAI? That's right, it's got BIOWARE on it. I'm such a tool.
Last I heard the devs had trouble (weird, seeing as they are working closely with DICE, the people who created the engine) implementing it.
It is pretty obvious that KB&M was an after-thought, something that possibly wasn't even planned until fans started to ask about it near the end of development.
Yes, I know they said they had to pull it for patch 2 because they couldn't implement it. This is so embarassing for them imho. Many games with K+M & gamepad support have it. Like Tomb Raider. Or...possibly any game were you can run and walk. Seriously, they boasted about how proud they are having implemented four-legged creatures in a game that aparently didn't support it, but they can't get "walking" in. OMG! -.-
Hopefu...gnah. ![]()

Yes, looking at it that way (being able to get in 4-legged creatures but not being able to get the MAIN CHARACTER TO WALK?!) does make Bioware look really ridiculously incompetent.
And for the people ranting at this request saying "why the hell you want a Walk button when you can run!" - Well, it is a matter of immersion, same as your run animation, or your combat animation, or your facial expressions...it is a staple mechanic that MUST be present in these types of games.
I would encourage people to take advantage of PC Gamer's offer to send them details on any PC gaming issues you want mentioned: https://twitter.com/...194416873668608
Any news of the date for the third patch release ?

Well, if you look at Divinity's development team, all playing using KB+M, and then you look at Bioware's development team, all playing using a controller...
It's more an issue of negligence than incompetence in my opinion. Bioware has always been leaning towards consoles but I surely never expected this from the DA team... and it's made worse by the infamous "by PC gamers, for PC gamers" marketing stunt.
Last night I did the quest at the ball and for part of that I was forced to walk so I'm guessing the mechanic for walking is in the code somewhere.

The mechanic is there, the animations are there. Players with controllers can walk, jog, and run. Players with KB+M = run only except for scripted instances (pre-Skyhold etc)
However, as it turns out it's not an easy fix because while walk/jog/run are controlled via a controller's stick, a walk/run toggle requires a state change which may cause serious issues as the game was not designed for it.
They are working on it now though, and we can only hope that it makes it for patch 3.
To people that claim Inquisition is better with joypad than KB+M:
I have played with Xbox controller and I claim it might be better for someone with a poor mouse. I have spent a lot of cash on Mad Catz MMO7 and playing with all the functions set the way I like is MUCH better for me, even though no WALK button is present.
Isn't there a fix for this walk button so we don't have to wait for a patch? It doesn't have to be a toggle. A hold button would do.
I would actually prefer a hold key myself, binded to shift - same key as "sprint" for your horse, because the button does nothing while you're on foot. It will help alot with precision movement, use Shift to walk while indoors/cliffs/etcs. Though a walk toggle would do just as well.
Both though, and I'm a happy chap.
It's absolutely ridiculous that they now have to struggle implementing such a seemingly simple thing. But it highlights the fact that this game was NOT developed for PC at all, or it would have been implemented from the get-go.
I wonder what it feels like to them having been exposed for their deceit in this way. I hope it makes them very nervous. i hope it makes them feel like complete fools.
Sigh....I was kind of hoping for a patch before the end of the year, but this evidently is not happening.
It is a bit embarrassing that a large scale studio with a very long history and origins as a PC developer is having so much trouble putting in something as simple as a walk button.
I hope this next patch arrives sometime soon!!
I won't hold my breath but here's hoping.
Yeah gonna add my voice to this chorus too. I even tweeted to 'em.

Their DECEIPT? Jesus. They're not friggin North Korea. Relax.
I cannot believe they let this be out of the game and even worse it still not there after all this time i would feel ashamed
Nothing new about this?
Weird. I simply couldn't believe what others were saying. They had to be wrong about this.
There must be a walk toggle; it was just a matter of finding the hotkey, surely. No, it was I who was wrong.
DAI reminds me of those PACER drills in gym class, lurching/reversing from point to point.
