Can I anti-sign? One of the most useless features ever. If even 5 seconds is devoted to adding this as opposed to fixing the numerous other graphical, gameplay, and technical errors it will be a mistake.

There isn't any call to be a ******, if you don't want this feature then why are you posting in a thread for people who do, aside from being a ******.

The only 5-second-mistake is clearly your post. ;)

I mean seriously, this is pure trolling or otherwise ignorant and selfish level over9000.

I'd love to use this mod, but I get really weird behavior in-game if I alt tab even once. Flickering textures and depending on the scene I'm viewing the fps sometimes drops from 60 (capped with vsync) to 30. Isn't anyone else experiencing this?

I play on fullscreen (as fullscreen windowed gives worse fps) with the game's own vsync and triple buffering. I also tried forcing them from the nvidia control panel, but that gives me screen tearing.

How about this...you set your game to use borderless window. Then you apply the mod. Then you switch back to fullscreen. IIRC switching between borderless window and fullscreen works without the need to restart the game. It should allow you to alt + tab just in order to get the cheat engine running.

Oh and there is also no need to load a savegame before starting / hooking the cheat engine. You can start it and apply the cheatengine during the main menu. Maybe that helps with the texture issue, too since I assume it does not happen in the main menu.

Sign me up for asking for the PC walk toggle!

BIOWARE/EA ... I'm voting my wallet.  I will not be acquiring DAI until the PC version (with KB+M) has a walk button.  It is a deal breaker for a CRPG with me.

I loved the Baldurs Gate Series.  DAO was amazing world, great story, good add-on content (bought all of it!).   ME2 was alsoo great (albeit with a game-stopping bug on install; had to wait for a fix).  Then...EA must have taken over.

DA2 was a mess; the only game since Daikatana that I deleted from my hard drive unfinished.  I vowed not to be taken by marketing hype again and waited on ME3.  Guess what, EA?  After reading what REAL gamers thought of the 'every decision has real impact' (only to get three different colors at the end of the game) I opted not to purchase it.  And I held off on DAI suspecting the same problems.

I'm saddened that I was right -- and will not be acquiring until the character can walk!

Walking mod has been updated - now with a HOLD to walk button as well!

http://forum.cheaten...5568456#5568456

First, thank you all for your work!

Here's a little contribution by myself: a script for all those mouse/keyboard-controlled inquisitors who are tired of running around at full speed all the time and enjoy the calmness of a nice walk for a change.
Bioware provides controlling movement speed (walking/running) already, but only when using a gamepad with analog sticks. Somehow they didn't implement this feature for mouse/KB controls. Not being able to use a gamepad together with mouse/KB controls doesn't help either...

The walk toggle script is bound to the 'C' key (can be remapped via right click > Set/Change hotkeys, Ctrl+H). When activated, the movement amount (0.0 or 1.0 with M/KB) is reduced below the walk/run threshold.

Enjoy!

P.S. For details on usage see OP on first page.

Change History:
v2:
- added 'walking mode while key pressed' option (checking key state changes periodically (default: every 200ms) via Lua scripting)
v1:
- initial (toggle interception of movement calculation via hotkey)

Updated for v2

that's why you can use a key bidding instead, no ?

The mod IS a walk toggle :P

And now we have both a walk toggle and hold to walk :)

'Cept I can't seem to get the V2 hold to walk working for some reason, the toggle is running fine as in V1

Good suggestion, but unfortunately it didn't help. I guess I'm doomed to wait for BW's walking implementation, if that's even going to happen.

I hate to say it, but I'm kind of getting used to running around like an idiot all the time. Oh the horror...

So, the modders have fixed it?

In an unfriendly Frostbite engine with no support from the developer?

This is actually genuinely hilarious.

Awesome! I've not had a chance to try version 2 yet, but I am hoping I will now be able to utilize walk, jog and run?

Currently, I have version 1 in which I changed the multiplier in the script from 0.5 to 0.8 so I am effectively toggling between a casual jog and full running speed (I still can't believe Bioware thought it sufficient for KB&M gamers to only have the option to run full speed!).

Does this mean that with version 2 I can still toggle between jog and run and then hold to walk? That would be perfect!

This is part of a bigger issue with the hardware scanning.  The game does not meet the established criteria, the toggle is supposed to default to left shift, but it does not work reliably, if at all.

The hardware scanning module that looks at the hardware status is not performing to spec in many cases.

  1. Find hardware reliably
  2. Fix the keyboard random key dropouts, lags and lockups are unacceptable
  3. Fix the mouse, the cursor disappearing act and lag are not amusing
  4. The controller has a similar issue with control lag, dropout and lockup on all platforms

It really looks like a bandwidth error-YOUR Beta should have seen this.

Please do test this. I would also like a short tutorial on how to implement these changes, please. Joggind AND walking...that would be so awesome!

Hell the controls feels so much more immersive with the hold option, I can now slow down instinctively holding the shift key while using WASD, like every other bloody PC game. Now it finally feels like a PC game not a console port. Now I can actually feel like I'm in control of my character's movement. It has yet to glitch up on me or cause any errors as well.

Hell part of me reckons patch 3's walk function may actually end up being inferior to this mod actually. It may only be a toggle!

Btw Dubya75, awesome signature LOL

EDIT: Also, judging by the script itself, it seems entirely possible now to have walking/jogging/running on PC with mods. Not familiar with CE however, may have to ask 2flower

Oh hell yeah! :D

Just the buttons are a bit on the non-practical side. Mhm...x for jogging, c for running would be ideal and a second press of any of the two for going back to 1.0 movement factor. I hope this is somehow possible for him to do. ^^

Use CTRL-H on CE to setup the hotkeys, like for me I have Z for toggle walk, and shift for hold walk (which is default, and you can change it)

Then you can save the settings.

NOTE: you can also hotkey the settings that change your max speed - like you can set a key to switch to jog/run etc

And 666th post :D

Version 3 is out : http://forum.cheaten...r=asc&start=255
- movement speed is unaltered by default (movementFactor = 1.0)
- SHIFT key forces walking speed (0.5) when held down (on key release: 1.0 again)
- toggle walking (C key) forces walking speed (0.5) on activate (on deactivate: 1.0 again)
- additionally the maximum speed can be set (0.5: walk, 0.8: jog, 1.0: run)

That guy is a hardworker ^_^

After DA:I, i believe now. This is, indeed, a miracle.

Tested it, crashed two times and now it runs perfect. I haven't played a game so much hours in one session a lot of time ago.

Well right now I have Ctrl for walk enabled, Shift and Alt keys also binded to disable it - so instead of a toggle I now have full precise control.

Shift is also default for hold walk, and Alt is my horse sprint key so hence both keys I set to disable the auto walk.

I tried the jogging but I think I'm happy with just walk and run. Still if I really wanted to, I would bind jogging to Z and running to Alt (which is also my horse sprint key)
