If you accidentally leave cheat engine running while playing mp in a vac secured server will you trigger a vac ban? Scenario could be as simple as = 'You play DA:I with cheat engine enabled fixes and decide you want to play some TF2 with friends on Steam. So you close out of DA:I but forget to close cheat engine and leave it running while you are playing TF2 on a vac secured server' = what exactly would happen? Would you trigger a vac ban?

don't you need to have a table loaded in order to aggravate anti-cheat programs?

Just close CE when you go MP

Means you can't walk in MP but it's just combat isn't it? I haven't tried it, no interest in it.

The main problem I see/have with this mod is that it will give the devs an excuse to not implement a walk toggle at all and just say "See? The community already fixed it unofficially, so we don't have to officially any more!". :(

I don't want to be forced to used third-party tools and mods to get a base functionality of any RPG game...

I seriously hope they won't be that stupid, as you're not the only one who doesn't like external programs.

Still, I do doubt that patch 3's walking function will compare to this mod. Most games have a hold to walk OR a walk toggle.

This mod has both and 3 movement speeds; walk, jog, run, similar to Skyrim.

Considering the trouble they are having over a simple toggle button, I don't think we'll have anything comparable to the mod.

So last night I completed Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, and comparing it with my initial playthrough when I did not have the walk toggle mod, I can pretty much conclude that the quest is near broken without the ability to walk. Being now able to walk, you actually pick up a lot more evesdropping hot-spots.

However, judging by Bioware's silence and "this is too hard to fix" attitude, I will bet money on neither this, nor any of the other PC issues getting fixed at all.

As I see it, we're on our own.

As a result, I will finish my current playthrough, enjoy it for what it is worth, then uninstall and walk away from Bioware and the Dragon Age franchise.

Right now trying to upload a video onto youtube to prove that the walking mod works. Fraps can only record up to 30 seconds for some reason, and kills my FPS, oh well. Also includes abit of my KE OPness.

I'll probably buy from Bioware in the future, I just sure as hell won't pre-order until modders come to fix it and it's on sale.

According to their webseite, they're "better than Fraps". :D Might wanna give it a try.

Also, make sure that when you record, don't save the video on the same harddrive. If you have another harddrive, save on that. If you save on the same harddrive where the game is running from, slow-down is bound to be massive.

Another thing: Back when I first used Fraps I didn't realize that when I set the framerate of the video to 30, Fraps surely will cut the game down to this fps when recoding. I always thought it would go to 30fps as part of the "record slowdown". It actually took years to realize my stupid mistake. So, try higher fps setting for the recording.

Downloading :)

I'll try to get it up soon, some people still have doubts it works/or they want an official fix (lol) so a video would help. You might want to edit it onto your thread when it's up.

Btw I only have 1 harddrive :(

It's watchable, just abit of lag, hopefully it will be forgiven.

Both Fraps and Bandicam probably save in an uncompressed format. You need to edit it, there's almost no way around it. Or at least compress it by converting it into a compressed format. Unfortunately I know of only one freeware who does it in multiple formats: Super (yes the software is really named "Super" :D).

Why unfortunately? It is a bit complicated to use and works very, very unreliable according to my own experience over several years. You get errors before finishing the conversion, have to try other codes or other bitrates etc. Well...give it a try: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

Well, I've halfed the recording size, now it's around 200 MB or so, unfortunately there's no sound. I've tried different recording devices but none work. Oh well, at least I can record for longer than 30 seconds, enough to showcase the walking mod.

The easiest way to do this is to dual purpose the SPRINT key. As of now it only toggles sprint on the horse. Why would it not be able to do the same for the character model.

Argh, so I made a nice vid of the mod and also making a mockery of Red Templars with my KE  and its 400MB... argh, nevermind trying to compress it now...

...and this is probably how Bioware will do it, eventually. Hopefully. ;)

Thing is: Mod-script works flawlessly and lets us walk, JOG and run. Two buttons, X and SHIFT and only if you like CAPSLOCK, too. I would almost bet that Bioware will be unable to match it. Well...I hope they prove me wrong.

Uploaded the video, check your mod thread :)

Might as well edit onto your OP if you like, I haven't been on the CE forums lately, but if 2flower wants to use this video too -> by all means.

I dont play to win - I play it for the experience - Its an adventure RPG

Playing the game on PC with a wireless XBOX360 Controller.

Running and rapid camera movement speed ruins the immersion of this wonderful world tremendously. Moving slowly around all areas not only make them seem bigger (they are in fact big) but they also wont appear as just a setting for you to get from point A to B, but actually a world that is there to capture you. I dare you to stop running and set your camera movement speed to near zero.

The movement stick allows for 3 speeds of movement. Lets say Walking, jogging and running. The level of adjustment with the movement stick is somewhat complicated to control.

If I just had a "running toggle" which I could use for some movement boost in desired areas, and default to a maximum of walking or jogging otherwise.

You all are aware that hitting the G key toggles running...if you want to just walk, well can't help you there (I'm on a PC so I dunno if you can lightly use a stick like you could in DAO for Xbox 360), but you're in no way forced to hold down the W key the entire time...

Hitting the G-keys lets you auto-run without holding down a button. It's the same as holding the W-key. ;)

About whether we want to walk or not...tricky, I know. Here is a hint, it's the name of this thread:

Request for DA:I to add in a Walk Toggle or Hold to Walk button on PC

I hope they fix this soon there are large parts of the game where running looks horrendously out of place.

I think you missed the point. We're not asking for an Auto-Run toggle. We're asking for another movement speed. Which does exist on the consoles i assume because the joysticks there are pressure sensitive and have variable accelaration in most games as you no doubt know.

Think To Dragon Age Origin, Or Awakenings, or even i believe DA 2. Also to Skyrim and Every other bethesda game. There is almost always a button which allows characters to slow down or speed up (depending on POV) movement in an RPG. And this game should have one. The fact it doesn't is rather aggravating. This key or button or function (choose your word) extends out to other games like espionage and stealth games and other strategy games because there are moments where walking in the game is rewarding whether for feel of experience or actual functional purpose. In the case this game not overshooting your target destination and enjoying the environments which are actually pretty scenic at times. And though i never use it or rather rarely use it predominantly out of combat when i want to feel BA, I'm fairly certain mass effect has a similar button.

The button also exists in almost every MMO RPG with a few non-notable exceptions because those games never did well enough to be noted. And even in some shooters, though again it's primarily a stealth, RPG, and strategy game mechanic/control. It's exclusion or the oversight of inclusion is frankly unnacceptable from the dev of so many "award" "winning" titles. It doesn't ruin the game but it certainly detracts from it from any RP(G)and strategic/tactical standpoint.

I would totally love this.

The entire opening was ruined when you first wake up in Haven... just running past everyone like an idiot.

Just as a reminder because the topic frequently drops onto the second page: Look in my signature.

I've been playing like...dunno...20, maybe 30 hours with the walk script so far and no issues. It's almost a new game with the script, you can run, jog and walk. :) Kudos again to the modder who made the script, 2flower.

Isn't it just mind-boggling how Bioware failed to implement this in the first place? "It's too difficult; it's the holidays...bla bla bla" Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Biojoke - "Hey we forgot to install a gear shift stick in your brand new car....actually, it was a little too complicated to do, and you know....it was the holidays and everything....and anyway, it is in 5th gear by default, so what are you complaining about?" *Grabs my money*

Me - "OK, so you call yourself a car manufacturer but it's too complicated to implement something that is essential and which, by the way, every other manufacturer are able to provide?"

Biojoke - "Yeah well....you're no longer welcome here! Stop harassing us!" *Runs off crying*

Me - "Naturally, I will be taking my business elsewhere, you understa......ugh, nevermind, whatever!"

Agreed on the request. Also, add mouse movement, grab all and attack all. More ability slots on PC.
