Absolutely frustrated at this. I know this sounds silly, but it's a huge deal for me for immersion. Running around everywhere just looks dumb.
Not only that, but I've caught other control bugs as well.

It can't be intentional. They have the animations, so they wouldn't make a decision to leave them out. That would just be daft.

SIGNED. Also, tac cam should be able to zoom out more. I don't think I'm going to play this game until these two things are addressed. So weird, it seems like they were doing everything right for the PC version until BAM no walk button....

Totally agreed. Tac cam needs to zoom out farther, and you need to be able to look UP when you zoom out. It's so ridiculous right now because the more you zoom out with the tactical cam, the less you can look "Up" with it until you can't look up with it at all. It's absurd. Whoever thought this was acceptable in regards at EA should be fired. It doesn't even come close to the playability that the origin cam offered.
I might wait for a patch as well before I play this more. I'm playing on nightmare and using this gimped camera is just too painful.

You don't need to convince me of that. But if it wasn't intentional (and it's not a bug, Mike Laidlaws tweet erases that possibility) then it was simply missed? That is as inexplicable as doing it intentionally. And perhaps more egregious. If it were intentional, then there would be some kind of reasoning behind it (whatever that reason might be likely wouldn't be of much consolation, but at least it would be there) and therefore deserving of at least some forebearance, especially since they are 'looking into it'. If it were simply missed, though, that would be more indicative of a "we don't care about this method of playing the game" mentality, which would be disappointing.
Console users can do it (presumably both generations).
PC/Controller users can do it (so it is not a technical limitation of the platform).
At the end of the day, this is not a massive, gamebreaking deal, by any stretch of the imagination, but it is certainly a disappointment.

As stated earlier, I am disabled.
Sadly I broke down and requested a refund. It was easy and a good customer service experience.
I will buy this game again IF EA restores the mouse based controls to similar to DA2 and DAO
Vote with your wallet, folks.
P.S.: I've posted this on several other threads. I will stop now as there are so many about this topic it will become spam and my message will be lost.

I mean I understand adapting control schemes for controllers but leaving out entire functions on the pc? Why does BioWare hate the PC? What'd we do to them? Was it complaining about every single thing ever...| Okay well yeah but still come on!

You'd be surprised.
I find it almost gamebreaking, at the very least it's extremely immersion breaking.
I had to resort to using a controller during casual situations because I cannot stand running all over the place outside of combat or exploring.

Well, I did break down and play a couple of hours. ** MILD SPOILER ** When I beat the first boss and woke up in the town I stutter-stepped, limped through the adoring crowd, which kinda worked for me after that fight. (I'd be limping anyway) ** END SPOILER**
Swapping the Q/A and E/D keys did a lot for the controls but it has a long way to go.
It is barely playable but may not last long if walking does not become available soon enough.

Absolutely essential to a roleplaying game. The fact that console has it but PC doesn't just makes it particularly disappointing. Please implement this.

So here is a very solid RPG game that offers you customization of two Iris colours yet fails to give mouse and keyboard users the option to walk. I get that stuff is being developed for consoles these days but this is just...yes, disappointing like DragonKing said. The PC is not dead, quite the contrary, so please don't treat us like second class users ![]()

Walk toggle is needed and more than that, PC controls are the worst I have ever seen for that kind of game ...
And by the way, don't tell me, devs, it will take days or weeks to put that in game, because if it's not coming anytime soon, I will ask for a refund. I've got a PC, a mouse and a keyboard, well, yes I'm PC user. I'm in no way a console user and because your game is suposed to be played on PC fix that asap.

Sorry, I wasn't intentionally dismissing the concerns of people that find it a major. Just a "my point of view" thing. It won't stop me eventually getting the game, but absolutely agree on immersion breaking.
One thing is certain. I will not ever be using a controller on PC. So my only hope for this issue is a fix.

Absolutely agree!
With this mess that is PC Controls and UI, I'm surprised the game received such good reviews.
It does not matter how well written the game is or how pretty it looks.
If we can't control the bloody thing, all of that is little more than a pile of code. You'd think Bioware gets this by now...
Really makes their "This is the game we always wanted to make" look like a joke.

Just like with DAII, it's clear the game's playtesting on PC was extremely limited, as opposed to the PC-first-consoles-way-later-DAO.
Signed.
EDIT: Does anyone else get deja vu regarding the auto-attack problem from Dragon Age II?

Walking toggle maybe a thing but after playing few hours, I must say it would be much appreciated to have 3 speed variant. Walk / Jog / Run (present animation in game for PC user). Most common mapping key would be a Z toggle for walking speed and a jog (default speed) going to run speed while SHIFT pressed.
Walking should be too slow and the actual running speed is a bit too fast. Jog would be a perfect compromise as default speed.

Bioware, please add an option to toggle walk on PC controls. Thanks so much!
It's such a small thing but it adds so much. Being able to slow down and take in a scene or just be part of the crowd for a few moments makes all the things that your artists, sound designers and developers have spent painstaking hours to create that much more alive; textures, music, NPC chatter, models and animations. It's like a little pinch of salt that makes all the ingredients you've slaved over that much better, it adds value to all the assets that make up the game world. I've used the walk toggle button in DA:O, DA2, all of the ME games and SWTOR and it's something I've come to take for granted in Bioware games.
To the community; I really appreciate everyone that's taken the time to ask bw to add this feature. Please help keep this topic hot and bumped (without spamming or breaking the forum rules of course). I've lurked here for years but this is the first time I ever felt the need to post something. no bully pls
