ME4 devs said they will take some mechanics from it and now many DAI devs are getting into ME4. This makes me worried since Im a huge Mass Effect fan and feel disappointed in Dragon Age Inquisition. Its just clunky and filled with filler content thats is not interesting at all.

Casey, if you hear me, please dont turn Mass Effect Next into something like that. Where you run across planets doing bland filler stuff, collect ore just to get more playtime. We want quality content. Amazing stories. Fans point out Mass Effect 2 as the best game in series, so take it as a basis and improve upon it. Id much more prefer to see 30 hours epic adventure then 150 hours bore train.

Casey Hudson is no longer the director of Mass Effect, he left BioWare :crying:.

Dragon Age: Inquisition isn't boring at all, I loved every bit of it.

P.S. I want the new Mass Effect to be more like ME1 not ME2 B)

Not out till tomorrow here interesting to see a small number of fans disappointed with it, bound to be better than Shadow of Mordor anyway. Unless it's really repetitive?

It just feels sluggish to me. Expecting fast paced combat like Mass Effect but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Is it an improvement on DA2 combat though?

No idea this is my first Dragon Age game. I'll give it another shot tonight because I don't want to just toss it out because it's different but it just doesn't feel right to me yet. Maybe once the combat becomes a little clearer it will be better.

To me, it felt like a mix between DA:O & DA2 (slightly imitating DA2's) & that = Balance, which is a great.

It's release time, meaning that all the butthurt, entitled idiots surface.

The things I've seen in DA:I forums, lol.

They didn't say they were borrowing the same mechanics. They said they were borrowing some of the Frostbite 3 engine elements and core systems, stuff like the dialogue system, leveling up, etc. had to be built from scratch. The DAI team made the template for RPGs on Frostbite 3, and customized it to suit their needs. Bioware Montreal is a different team that is making a different game, and they will also most likely make their own modifications as they see fit.

It won't be Dragon Age Inquisition in Mass Effect skin if that's what you're worried about.

They may have a point psyche, I have no sound on my game. No combat sounds, no voices, not even a bird whistling in the background. Only the sound of a drumbeat and subtitles, the characters mouths aren't even moving. I was loving the game up until that happened. Everything else is perfect but no sound kind of kills it.

EDIT: Ok I see what you mean about the DA:I forums now, hard to see how legitimate problems are going to be addressed with people complaining about hair colours.

There were people claiming the game destroyed your SSD even before the game released... it's madness. So many people with an obvious agenda.

What I don't want to see in ME:Next is a huge galaxy filled with MMO-style filler content. Better make it small but with truly unique and interesting locations. I also want a dedicated PC version not a console port that comes with weird keybindings.
ME is in a different position, gameplay-wise it only got better with each game, while there were people quite unhappy of DA2 combat. Thus the need to cater to their needs as well. I doubt there is a sizeable group of ME fans that think of ME1 as having the best gameplay of the trilogy.

Well, some people did like the Mako. Even if that is only because they modded the crap out of it but still.

The whole MMO filler content thing.. ugh. Have you ever done anything different in an RPG?

Kill this, kill that, bring me this, bring me that. Hollow complaint.

I think I know what he means when he refers to "MMO Filler". Everything essentially in any game, ever, can be boiled down to "go here, do this, get reward, kill big bad, end". But it's the way it's presented, It's like when Chris Booker explains that there are only actually 7 plots to any story, but it's the way it is crafted that makes the difference.

A lot of ME3 sidequests was literally: talk to guy, go to planet and scan, return to guy.

I too would like to see some more crafted side stories, offering their own implications, ala Shade Lord, Firkraag, Kangaxx, Beholder Cult in Baldur's Gate II, great side quests that were enriching to the story. A lot of MMO side quests are literally, "go kill x amount of y", "go kill this guy because I say he is evil". I get what he means, it's just a matter of practicality I think and time.

The defining factor is the sheer amount of such content. Remember people complaining about side missions in ME3? Lack of substance for those missions was a problem and they were probably even more fleshed-out than radiant quests in, say, Skyrim.

To note, I haven't played DA:I :)

No way. Mass effect 2 was boring as hell, walking two meters, guess what, another set of 4 mercenaries comes from the corner, after fighting 3 mins of those enemies  you walk few meters foward and guess what, yet another group of enemies vol 343424234 comes. And every single map and missions contains the same formula.

Also it had worst writing out of 3 me. Actually it has horrible writing as general. It just doesnt make any sense. " hey that one ship that looks completely different and destroyed our entire fleets alone, maybe we should prepare for a possible invasion?" "naah, it was just another geth ship".

Not only almost every mission is "daddy issue". "miranda: i have daddy issues could you help me?" Jacob:" but i have daddy issues too", Thane:" hey, dont forget my daddy/son issues too" and so on..

Its much worse in my opinion. I actually liked DA2 combat, the challenge that nightmare brought, managing party and abilities. It felt smooth other then weird camera angels sometimes.

In DAI combat is so dull and clunky and tactical camera such a pain in the ass, that I just lowered difficulty to normal to kill stuff fast and get over it. Also this new mechanics where you dont have healing abilities, just spam through free potions. Meh..

I'm enjoying the combat atm other than the loss of tactics slots of course. Then again i'm not bothering to use the pause screen to issue orders, just seems more fluid that way and easier to enjoy.

I see your concerns but for the most part the complaints i'm seeing have a lot to do with the game being open world and the fact you just can't account for everything that can go wrong in a game this big, GTA, AC, Skyrim they all suffered from the same thing. Sad PC players are having such a hard time with it but I don't think there's anything major here to put me off ME:N.

If anything i'm slightly more excited actually the story is on point, the characters are interesting and the dialogue is realistic and unique to the in game attitudes of each character. Graphics are great music is on point and a lot of effort was put into this. There's a lot of positives to come out of this if you're looking forwards to the Mass Effect Next release period. Whenever that actually is.

I'm playing on the ps3 and enjoy DAI. I know the graphics aren't as good as the ps4/xone/pc, but so what? I'm enjoying the game. At this time, I'm not worried about the next ME game till there's more information.

I'd rather have some simple fetch quests than stuff like ME'2 planet scanning. That was terribad. Even Mako driving on empty planets was better.

Basically if you take ME2 with its story filled content as basis, remove the planet scanning minigame and instead add the actual exploration of ME1 you will got a darn good game right there... Can you do it?
