So I have an old directinput controller that I use for most games (I use a x360ce to make it work like modern Xinput controllers)

So I decided to try to use it with this one, it wasn't working automatically so I went into the options menu under controls and changed the device from keyboard and mouse to gamepad. How stupid of me apparently, as I soon realized that x360ce simply isn't working with Dragon Age. Apparently this means that I can no longer control the game. At all. The game won't accept anymore keyboard and mouse inputs, nope only a controller. A controller of the xinput variety which I don't have...which means I cannot change it back to keyboard and mouse. So now I have a game that I can't control.

Anyone have a way around this? I tried looking for an ini file that might contain the game settings but found no such thing. I'm currently stuck with a "press start to continue" simulator.

I'm in the same boat except I didn't do anything like that. I just exited the game and came back to it thinking i had a controller plugged in, and even when I do plug in a controller, it doesn't work...

I have the same problem.  I had a X360 controller plugged in, went into options and changed to gamepad from key/mouse and then it won't allow any input at all.  I had to shutdown DAI from Task Manager.  This must be a bug.

I'd like the devs to explain how to restore the config to key/mouse so I can at least play until the issue is resolved.  As it stands whenever I open DAI its stuck, no input is accepted.

Modern game only being able to take input from controller or kb+m but not both at the same time is some impressive clown shoes.

Ok guys, I somewhat found a way to solve this. Go into My Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age Inquisition/Saves.

You'll see a file called "ProfileOptions_profile" cut and paste it to somewhere else then start the game, it'll reset all of your settings, including the controls.

But seriously this shouldn't be a problem. For years PC games have been able to switch ON THE FLY from gamepad to keyboard and mouse, why not this one?

Thanks, pulseONE, your tip about deleting ProfileOptions_profile saved my bacon when my Logitech F710 got stuck in DirectInput mode.

/cheers

You probably will have to delete the game and reinstall it to restore the defaults if it wont respond to your keyboard or mouse. JMO.
