I just woke up after pretty much playing the entire day yesterday, and would like to have a civil conversation about the PC controls, that, quite honestly, is easily the games weakest link. And by weakest link, i mean broken to the point of it needing a ME3 ending overhaul.

It is a shame really, because I have really been enjoying playing the game, but find myself avoiding combat more and more just to avoid dealing with the clunky and counterintuitive PC combat controls.

While many smaller issues could be raised, below I´ve listed 2 of the major issues that, if fixed, would turns this into an incredible and enjoyable game.

1) Melee attacking air, basic attack queue

As a rogue, this is especially frustrating due to the low range on the weapons, and adds a level of unwanted difficulty and frustration. Your basic attacks offer no gapclose(like in DA2), and if the enemy is out of range, not only do you NOT walk up to them to attack like in DAO, you actually stop and attack the air. I am perfectly fine without gapclosing on my basic attack, but please make it so that the attack command moves you over to the enemy first.

In order to queue up a basic attack command against an enemy that is out of range, as a melee, you literally have to enter the tactical cam, order the attack, then exit the tact cam. You cannot right click an enemy without it. It simply doesn´t work.

If your gapclosers are on cooldown, you need to manually WASD your way over there, which wastes a lot of time. This is disastrous on higher difficulties, where you want to make sure that your whole team is performing to the best of its abilities.

2) The tactical camera

The tact cam is unuseable for anything other than scouting, and to fix the above issue. The reason is because mouselook is removed from the tact cam, with no option to revert it. Meanwhile, moving the tact cam has been replaced with WASD.

In practice, what this means is that when you control your hero using WASD, and enter tact cam, suddenly instead of controlling your hero, your cam is the one moving. Very frustrating not to be able to move your hero, other than issuing single commands at a time.

Please revert it to mouselook, and WASD to control your hero.

If these two points were fixed, DA:I would be a much more enjoyable game. Don´t get me wrong, there is a reason that I spent 16 hours on the game. As frustrating as it is, it is also a ton of fun.

But the way I look at it is this: A small design error, is leading to a large negative outcome. The more we appeal to bioware, the more we can raise the issue. And we know that Bioware listens (never seen a company rewrite an ending for a game, after it came out, and wasn´t a monthly subscription)

Enjoy!
