Sorry, but try to re-map keys to a mouse. It doesn't work. You can not remap to a mouse, or in this case a Steelseries mouse.
I'm not going to go in depth with every option I have tried. But Yes, you can remap the keyboard, but the default UI does not allow for mouse button remaping, and I have been trying since 1am this morning. Thanks.
A steelseries mouse? You mean the steelseries mice that run on the steelseries engine that lets you customize the mouse buttons to be keyboard buttons that could then be mapped in-game? Sure the game doesn't recognize "mouse 4" and "mouse 5" but if you just set those to be 2 unused keyboard keys using the steelseries engine you'll be fine.
If you take the time to remap the keys correctly to you're liking the game gets a lot better. I switched to controller pretty quickly as it was clearly designed with that in mind, but even the controller has the problem of "jump" and "do" being mapped to the same button. I actually got my main character stuck behind a knight because of that lol. I wasn't able to jump out. It also causes a problem when you're just hopping around (It's not jsut me that does that right?) and accidentally talk or loot something that you didn't see. Might be switching back to keyboard though. I'm thinking of mapping space to pause, shift to jump, alt to the horse gallop, and one of my mouse thumb buttons to ping. I just wish the tactical camera worked better for mouse+keyboard that's my only real complaint.
It's just an egregious example of how bad the questing is in the game. If you don't agree that's cool. 10 million people played WoW for a decade so obviously people like this stuff. I just don't.
Are you happy knowing that you guys went from being my number 1 game design company, to the absolute worst company ever?
I don't know how they feel, but I find it hilarious. Oh, don't Google "DuPont," "Halliburton," "Rogers," "Blackwater," or "Electronic Arts." If you do, all your orifices shrivel up into a tiny ball of hyperbole.
I admit, they didn't market this game as DAO spiritual successor. And I originally was not going to get DAI. I was here on the Bioware forums for the shitstorm that went down after DA2 went down.
You had Bioware themselves shutting out their fans. Saying rude things to them. People were being banished and silence for negative feedback. You had people who thought DAO was boring think DA2 is amazing.
You think DA2 is amazing, when were stuck in Kirkwall the whole entire time, humans were the only playable race [what was the point of me moving my saved data from awakening and DAO to DA2 again, tell me?], same dungeons over and over again, rehashed dungeosn, and lackluster environment.
What they did market DAI as, is the game that said we listened to the fans.
I will admit I do thin DAI is a decent game. It is not a game that tells me they listened to the fans though. I am having fun. This was the game DA2 should have been and I probably would have been happier with it that way.
But DAI proves to me they learned nothing.
It's your opinion that you don't like it but I do.
It's kind of a cross between dragon age origins and diablo.. Which is fine by me.. I've had 0 issues and also no issues with the kb/mouse controls. If you look at the reviews and majority of the posts, people like it.
This little butt-hurt tantrum was really entertaining to read, I needed a laugh so thanks
This is why I'm wary of PC gamers, most of you guys have a superiority complex. Sorry the game wasn't perfect on your 'superior gaming platform', but it's actually quite fine on console. In my honest opinion, DA:O had the best story but the worst controls of all the Dragon Age games. II and Inquisition were so much better. But then again, PC was made for 'click once - and only once - to beat the game' games, like DA:O's combat system.

I still like it. I just wish it was more than what it is.
Because providing mutton for refugees is so unrealistic....
I can understand; perhaps even empathize with those not wanting to seek torn pants or junk items. When I was playing SWTOR, if I did not care for some of the sidequests, they are optional, so I skipped them. But to put off by being asked to provide meat for others lacks my sympathy. Enjoy your refund, but I still await my game with joyful anticipation.
Uh, it has nothing to do with the story aspect of it. It's about hunting down 10 friendly animals that run away from you just for a collection quest, like in an MMO. It's about none of the side quests having real dialog, choice or plotlines. It's about none of the encounters being designed or interesting, just roaming enemies in the fields. It's just boring to me, that kind of MMO style is not the RPGs I like to play.
I hope you enjoy it though.

I agree with this.
This is why DAI is a decent game.
Play games like FNV for good sidequest, and that kind of spoils you
Even Witcher and Dragon's Dogma
I still don't see how the answer to junk quests isn't just ignoring the junk sidequests and playing the rest of the game. Unless you're worried you'll be underlevelled for the rest of the content?
All the side quests are junk quests, was the original point. The "collect 10 sheep meat" one is just an example. I played 8 hours and all the quests sucked. Every single one.

Don't do the side quests then? I don't like the microsoft sync that's in my car... so I don't use it... I can't stand the at&t bloatware/apps on my phone, so I don't use them...

I don't like the quests in this game, so I'm not paying $60 for it. See, we agree after all!

Agreed! I don't buy games I don't like!

BioWare,The fact that you somehow belched this control scheme into existence, that you made a complete mess of a game world that WAS SO PERFECT WITH DRAGON AGE ORIGINS. You turned a beautiful PC game, into Skyrim, without the controls, without the sense and feel of a tactical rpg, and whats worse was - you marketed it as a spiritual successor to DA1/O.How you guys even call yourselves Bioware anymore, I have no idea. Thanks for ruining it, between this, ME3, and DA2 I've lost all faith in your company.
I don't get it. What's so bad about Skyrim? It's one of the most popular games in history.

Do not get me started? You want to know what's wrong with Skyrim?
'None' of the side quests seems to be rather inaccurate based on the encounters seen in various Streams and vids. And perhaps they remind some a bit too much of elsewhere, or other quests that are not enjoyable. After a decade of NWN1, I tired of rat infestation quests. But as it appears that it is early in the campaign, the idea of the absolute 'none' appears to be in error.
And I played SWTOR solo and enjoyed my time, so this should be even better.
Well I haven't watched videos, I've only played 8 hours of the game. So I guess you'd know best.
Everyone, deescalate please. Some people have issues and want to share them. That's fine. Not everyone is going to agree on the same thing.
I don't really have strong feelings one way or the other if someone wishes to say that they think the controls are fine, but it's important that neither denies the experience that the other is having. It's not particularly productive for anyone to come in and tell people that aren't pleased that they are wrong or whatever. Please disengage.
I'm sorry, all I can think of with the bolded is....

But yes, I agree with the sentiment expressed.
I applied for and received an Origin refund for this game. I got to the town area of the Hinterlands after exploring the southern half for hours and the quests are just all terrible. The game feels and plays like an MMO with console combat. It reminds me very much of that Kingdoms of Amalur game, not Dragon Age. When someone asked me to go kill 10 sheep for sheep meat I immediately quit and got a refund.
I'll probably re-buy it down the road for $20 and see if I like it more then, but I don't want to pay $60 for an MMO style game like this. I find them very boring.
I can sure sympathize on those quests. Not my thing either.
I'll skip most of them likely.
Did you read this review?

As per this review, it looks like you may have quit just as the main story was to kick in.
Main story is more than long enough to make me pay full price.
We'll see how it goes.
Cutscene performance has me really disappointed.
In regards to the side quests, that was something one of the reviewers said sorts itself out eventually. At first they feel as if they have no meat to them, but over time they get better.
I understand the frustration one would have with quests of a Twenty Bear Asses nature, but I think in the context of here it's fine. Refugees tend to ask that kind of stuff, in a nation that's littered with opposition and wanton killing of innocents.

Nothing really. It's a game with it's pros/cons. Wide world, beautiful places, though the story and narrative is a bit shallow given the size.
What concerns me, personally, is trying to turn Dragon Age into something it never was. It happened in Dragon Age 2 (turning it into Mass Effect). I can't comment on DA:I personally, but I can certainly see some of the ramifications.
If you config the keyboard controls to treat it like an action game it plays much better with keyboard and mouse. Specifically I changed 'A' and 'D' to move right and left, rather than strafe, and I changed "interact" to the 'E' key. Some other random stuff too. Once you do this it plays like an other console action game ported to the PC, which is to say it plays okay, not great.
The real core issue is that it's an action RPG now and not a "CRPG," like Origins and even DA2 was.
That sounds...atrocious. Not my type of 'action' RPG. Thanks for the heads up. I'll stick with devs who can design for M&K.
