I have a "pretty penny" stored in Bioware points, and was looking forward to spend them on dlc's for this game.

As i went into the forum i stumbled on a post informing me, that I could no longer use Bioware points for buying dlc for the new Dragon Age if I was playing it on a pc. So I'm pretty much screwed - I have all three mass effect games and the two previous Dragon age games, and I have bought all dlc's, except I think one appearance dlc. I dont play other bioware/origin games.

So I stored money in the Bioware "bank" and now the "bank" tells me that the currency they sold me for real money is useless. But they will soon want me to spend some other of my real money on dlc's. SEE, THATS HOW YOU MAKE MONEY   .

At leat the could allow us to spend the bioware points that they have sold us, so we could get value for the money we have paid. They have appearently decided not to. It wasn't an tecical issue but by choise, and thats why I feel they have stolen my money.

Anyone else have been robbed??

When they made that announcement, they promised some solution for people with outstanding point balances.

But we've heard nothing since.

This is why you shouldn't turn your real money into fake money and store it in a fake "bank" in amounts larger than $20--preferably less.

So what you are saying is I shoudn't trust a company like Bioware to sell valid wares, I shoud expect to be robbed. And btw no blame to the robber, "he" is just doing his job, is that it?

I sure can afford without the money, it's more about the principle then the money. I don't like to be cheated, no matter weather it is a small amout or a large amount.

But there is no valid reason to just make the bioware point almost useless. They had a lot of possibilities to make their customers a refund. Just one suggestion: they could credit them in our Origin account, and that way give us a discount on our first purchase or until used. It's not like the don't know what I have paid for them, or that a refund wasn't a possibility. They chose not to.

I'm pretty sure that when the time comes there will be a solution for people like you who have a lot of Bioware points. For now though I don't see why you are complaining about it as there is no dlc released or announced yet for the game...

You are not alone on this KL62. I have some bioware points i was planning to use on future dlc's as well and they should do something to fix this (but i don't think they will sadly)

For one very simple reason. I just found out.

shoud I wait to complaint until when I would like to spend the points? I think not ;) .

And wouldn't Bioware suggest they would find a solution if that was the case?

Yes it probably would be easy. I's all store electronicly. Can't be that hard, if they want.

Sometimes banks fail and you have to roll a hard six.

Yeah I know... It's hard these days to find an answer to our questions/problems when you need to browse hundreds of pages of forums posts/reddit XD haha.

I hope for you that they are really working on a fix though :)

Lets hope it for all of us, if not for anything else, at least for sheer decency and so that we can uphold trust in placing our money in the company and their games.

You could ask support to convert the points into real money and credit it to your EA wallet.

The problem was when they set up BW points. There was no function for refunding them and no legal stuff about it

They should do that automatically for all of us. According to taigebu's link: http://forum.bioware...6#entry17194699 they could surprice me.

Agree. It was completely based on trust. Should actually be more valuable then legal stuff.

Have you SEEN the feedback to Dragon Age II, Mass Effect 3 and The Old Republic? I'm pretty sure you've had ample warning about the fact that they sometimes do things that invalidate previously made promises. No offense intended, but you can't in good conscience say that there was no sign something like this may happen.

May I ask why did you place so much money into BioWare Points in advance if you had all the DLCs for the previous games?

I think BW should refund Bioware points if that's the case.

Thanks for your reply, and yes you may.

I placed the money back when me3 released, and for ease of use i bought plenty, assuming I could use them on Bioware games in the future, like new Dragon Age or Mass Effect games. I never for a minute thought that they would cut off bioware points without converting the points to a different system.

I can easily afford to "loose the money" otherwise I wouldn't have placed them. I just never thought I might loose them by Biowares deliberate choise, and that irritates me.

Of course I know gamewise that they break promises, I guess that all gaming companies do that. And I seldom follow what is going on in the forum, so If there have been different kinds of broken promises, I wasn't aware.

Well, I guess I'm wiser now

In any case, this is a terrible thing to happen, and I offer you my sincerest condolences. Let's hope BioWare comes up with some sort of refund plan for unspent points.

I was in the same boat. Tried to go through support to no avail ("We can't refund BW points because yadda yadda"). I escalated via snail mail to the board of directors of EA's subsidiary in my country. That worked, finally got somebody competent from PR to help me, I'm happy now.
